Emiliano walked inside the room hesitantly, it was bright and filled with hospital stuff, he made his way in and closed the door lightly and there his wife was fighting for her life all because of his carelessness. He was responsible for the condition she was in.
“Hey”he whispered as he got closer but like the doctor said she was unconscious going through so much pain. Emiliano sighed and half sat on the narrow bed and ran his hand in her soft hair repeatedly, recalling just how much fun he had with her. They started off as enemies but with time he got used to her loud mouth and sarcastic way and the way she picked a fight with him even on little things was what he got used to. Never in his life did he tolerate any woman the way he did with Sia, she completely won over his heart with her simple nature and innocent mind, sometimes he wondered if meeting her was an accident or if fate did its thing. If he took a few steps back he would wish he had met her earlier in his life when he was a caring and loving person,, but now he was just not what was good for her. She deserved more, not a jerk like him who ruined her life without knowing.
“Sir, it’s time for her medicine”a nurse’s voice brought Emiliano back to his senses as he looked up with lazy eyes then back at sia and nodded for the nurse to proceed with whatever she wanted to do, and the nurse walked to Sia with a small tray with a sealed syringe and a bottle of medicine in liquid form. Emiliano held Sia’s hand as he watched the nurse inject her, and she flinched a little but didn’t regain consciousness.
“It’s fine now, sir, please inform me if any changes occur… the doctor will check on her in a few hours”the nurse informed Emiliano, and he nodded and turned nurse left, and he shifted his attention back to Sia who looked relaxed. Emiliano narrowed his eyes as he thought, recalling what has happened earlier, and couldn’t make sense of anything. He had a feeling of being watching at the park but didn’t think much about it and putting together what he heard Mario tell Angelo he realized.
“Someone did this”he mumbled and darkened his expression because anyone who dared to harm Sia would pay with their life and if ever he found who it was then their life would be miserable for years to come.
Emiliano sat beside Sia the entire night looking after her, he couldn’t afford to sleep because just as the doctor had told him his wife was still in danger and needed proper care, and hence he had to stay awake. At some point in the middle of the night Sia was feeling uncomfortable in her unconscious state and had a high fever, and therefore it was up to him to make sure her fever had gone down even when the doctors asked him to let them do their work he refused because he only trusted himself with Sia’s safety and when he had used a wet sponge to make sure she had no fever he made preparations for her favorite food since morning was approaching.
“Wow sir, she’s really lucky to have a husband like you… you stayed up all night without getting rest just to take care of her”a nurse who came to administer another dosage of medicine said to Emiliano who was busy fixing sia’s hair, it was already morning and the doctors assured him she would regain conscious in a matter of hours. The nurse was done and her work and left a few minutes later the room door opened and to his surprise Carmen Cristal together with granny walked in holding huge bouquets of flowers and hugs fruit baskets.
“Oh my boy has grown up, I’m so proud of you”his granny walked to him and gave him a hug patting him on his back.
“I know mom, Emiliano did a good job taking care of our Sia… right cristal?” Carmen said with a smile as she walked to sia’s bed and inspected her, and she had to say she was saddened when she found her daughter-in-law of in such a terrible state.
“My son-in-law is the best”Cristal commented as she took went to Sia and granny also, Emiliano looked at the three women worrying about his wife and knew she was in safe hands, and hence her slipped out and left because he had some serious matter to take care of so help him if he doesn’t commit murder.
“Make sure the room is well ventilated, and cut as many fruits for her as possible”granny said as she held Sia’s hand while Carmen checked to see if the window was open. Sia was currently in her own private room in the hospital, and hence she got special care from the doctors, especially when Emiliano was at their necks to make everything alright.
“Mom, when will she wake up”Carmen asked looking at Sia and just as granny was about to reply and scold her daughter-in-law for being impatient, Sia moved her hand as her heavy eyes flickered open as she struggled to see anything due to the bright light blinding her eyes but with great difficult, she narrowed her eyes to look around only to find herself in the hospital, her head was hurting so was the rest of her body.
“Oh my goodness she’s awake”Carmen exclaimed with happiness followed by Cristal then granny who held Sia’s hand even more than her eyes shone with delight.
“Calm down Sia, let us call the doctor”Cristal said as she made her daughter lie back down but sia was utterly confused as she looked around as if searching for someone and yes, she was searching for someone she wanted to see so badly and the three women saw through her and noticed that while they were lost checking up on Sia, Emiliano must have left.
“G… granny where is he? I… I want him here”Sia said in a low tone as her eyes nearly watered with desperation, her breathing was becoming unstable as she waited for them to tell her where Emiliano was because she wanted to see him but he wasn’t there.
