The Wind Obeyed

Book:The Wingless Fairy (The Alpha's Luna) Published:2024-6-3

“So, you mean I can control water,” Ariella asked doubtfully. It wasn’t like she didn’t see herself controlling water, but she felt she was only hallucinating. So it turned out that she was the one who possessed the four elements.
Daisy smiled at Ariella’s doubtfulness, she would also do the same if she was in her shoes. Ariella lost her wings but gained something extraordinary, and she was genuinely happy for her.
“But I can’t even fly anymore. I’m just like a mere human. I’m not a fairy,” Ariella’s face dropped in sadness, to her discovering these powers presently were somehow useless. If she had discovered it earlier, she would have defeated Beatrice and saved her family plus her wings, but now that she already lost them, she felt there was no point gaining such powers. She was left alone with only Daisy by her side.
Ariella thought Beatrice had long killed Tracy because she knew Beatrice wasn’t the type to spare a life.
“Come on, don’t be like that. Wings or not, you are still the most beautiful and kindest fairy I have ever met. Why do you think our creator entrusted the power to manipulate the four elements of magic to you? It was because the creator saw how pure and angelic you are. I mean, many fairies, but they choose you because they know you won’t fail them, they know you won’t use those powers for your personal or selfish interest,” Daisy encouraged Ariella.
“They entrusted it to you, so please don’t fail them. These powers were given to you so you could liberate your kingdom from the hellish reign of Beatrice, now you have all it takes and more to defeat Beatrice, but you need to groom those powers laying adamant in you. You have to wake them up by practicing, don’t you want to make your parents proud by defeating the person who killed them?”
“I do,” Ariella said softly. Daisy’s words really encouraged her, and she now saw things from a different perspective. She was her people’s savior, she knew many people would die if she decided not to put her gift to practice and their blood would be on her.
Ariella was now determined in her heart to defeat Beatrice at all means. She felt glad to have Daisy by her side, Daisy has always been with her since she was a kid and from the time she knew her until this very moment, she never aged.
Something has been on Ariella’s mind since she began conscious. She noticed how shocked Daisy and Beatrice were when they saw each other the day her family were killed.
“Daisy, can I ask something?”
“Sure, go on honey,” Daisy approved.
“Why were you shocked when you saw Beatrice the other day? It seemed like you both knew each other. What do you know about her? Do you know why my mother blocked her from entering the kingdom?” Ariella asked.
Daisy heaved, she wasn’t expecting Ariella to ask her that question, but she was glad she did.
“Beatrice is my twin sister,” Daisy dropped the bombshell, and Ariella’s mouth fell open.
“Your sister! That’s unbelievable! You don’t even look alike!” Ariella exclaimed.
“And your personalities are different too.”
“Yes we don’t. We are not an identical twins and we are different individuals, so our characters mustn’t be the same” Daisy laughed at her amusement.
“I thought she was long dead, thus the surprise when I saw her.”
“And for why your mother blocked her out, I’ll tell you. It’s a very long story, but I’ll shorten it.”
***Years ago before Ariella was born***
“Bow to me!” Daisy heard her sister command one of the maids.
What’s with her? Ever since Sabastine got married to Mitchell and made her his queen, Beatrice has been acting weird.
Beatrice became so bitter and segregated herself from everyone, she wouldn’t speak to Mitchell, her best friend or even her, her twin sister.
Beatrice began to act bossy. She commanded their workers to bow to her, which they did.
Mitchell reached out to Beatrice and asked her what her offense was, rather than settling things amicably, Beatrice rained all manner of insult on Mitchell, calling her a husband snatcher.
Mitchell got to understand that Beatrice was jealous of her union with Sabastine, Mitchell tried to make peace by apologizing severally to Beatrice, but Beatrice remained adamant, saying the only thing that will make her forgive Mitchell was, If she left her marriage for her.
Mitchell refused to her request, she couldn’t leave her marriage because Beatrice was Jealous and, moreover, Sabastine never had anything to do with her, so there was nothing Beatrice could use against her.
Slowly, without anyone noticing, Beatrice began to practice black magic. She was always going out every night, and Daisy never suspected anything wrong and only thought she was nursing her broken heart.
One day, Beatrice was taking a stroll when, mistakenly, a girl from a low background bumped into her. The girl pleaded for mercy, but Beatrice had none of it.
Blinded by anger, Beatrice forgot it was broad daylight and people were watching her, she stretched her hand at the girl and the girl began to choke, the girl held her neck in pain for some minutes and thereafter, she dropped dead.
People gasped in fright and began to run away when they saw what Beatrice did. Meanwhile, queen Mitchell happened to be one of those who witnessed it. She ordered the soldiers who came out with her to capture Beatrice. Beatrice killed half of them without breaking a sweat.
Mitchell, being the queen, had a special power gifted to her by the creator the day she was crowned.
Mitchell stretched her hands towards Beatrice, and a mist appeared and covered Beatrice. Beatrice couldn’t see where she was anymore. The soldiers took advantage of the situation and arrested her.
No matter how much Mitchell loved Beatrice, she didn’t want a murderer as a friend. Beatrice was going to pose a threat to her people, and that’ll affect her. She hated seeing people die or suffer. And as a faithful upholder of the law, she must punish Beatrice for breaking the law
Instead of being killed as the law stated, Mitchell, being merciful, pleaded with her husband, and he only banished Beatrice with his wife using her blood as a protective seal to prevent Beatrice from ever stepping a foot into the kingdom again.
*****Back to present*****
Ariella listened carefully as Daisy told her the story of what transpired between her parents and Beatrice. It was already night and Daisy had gathered some wood to make a fire.
Daisy tried to make fire, but then the wind blew strongly and kept blowing off her fire.
Ariella, who was watching Daisy struggle, became pissed.
“Let me light the fire up,” Ariella suggested, and Daisy allowed her. Daisy taught Ariella many things, which included lighting dry wood up with a stone, making a kite, e. t. c, so Ariella knew how to light a fire.
Ariella struggled even more than Daisy, each time she lit the fire up, the wind quenched it. Ariella became frustrated and yelled,
“Wind! Stop blowing off our fire, I’m cold.”
And just as though the wind heard her, everywhere suddenly became calm. Ariella and Daisy also noticed what happened and looked at each with their eyes widely open.
“Ariella, you can speak to the wind!” Daisy spoke and jumped excitedly.
Ariella just stood, shocked!
“Wind start raging again!” Ariella commanded again but everywhere remained calm, then she looked at Daisy with doubtful eyes.
Daisy laughed at her action, she knew how hard it was for Ariella to process everything at once.
“Give it time, Ariel, you’ll learn how to control your powers.”
