Luna looked at Maximus when he said that he is Shawn’s friend. Why did he not bring up to her that? She thought that Maximus and Shawn are strangers.
“You are friends with Shawn?”
“Yes” he sighed “and I am sorry for not telling you about Shawn. I do not have any intention to meddle, but I cannot stand looking at you, crying for the man who cannot even look at you. Believe me, if I said that I am interested in you. I do not want to lie nor keep secrets from you. Please do not close your heart… for me”, he then looked at his front.
Luna felt warm in her heart. She was moved because of Maximus. They were strangers, yet the man already cared about her. His family even welcomed her at his house and celebrated her success in passing the board exam. They treated her like one of them. She felt like she had a family.
Luna needs to clear things for Maximus to understand. She does not want to get hurt again. She does not want to hurt him as well. They need to take things slowly but surely, so they will not end up hurting each other.
“Thank you, Maximus, but if you will marry a woman like me, make sure you love me a hundred percent. You should not marry someone because you pity them. You are not responsible for my feelings, for me. you do not need to do that” Luna said while looking at him sincerely. She knows that her decision was right. She is ready. She has to move on first before going into a new relationship.
Maximus droves again. No talk happened, even a glance. A serious and quiet environment was just felt by them.
When the car stopped in front of her house, Luna immediately got out of the car and went inside her house without even saying goodbye to him. Maximus did not follow nor call her. He just let Luna go outside the car. He just followed her by looking at her back until Luna disappeared at his sight.
Somehow, he realized that maybe Luna was right. He should not force both of them into the relationship if they do not have any feelings for each other. He does not understand her yet because he never had a lover before. He thought that he was mature enough to fully understand a woman’s feelings. He did not understand himself either.
They will hurt each other. He will only hurt her.
Maximus smiled when he thought of something. He needs to be a man to understand the feelings of a woman… to understand Luna.
That night, Luna received a message from Maximus. Her heart moved when she read his message.
Ok, I will not force you anymore but if the time comes, that we are both ready, I will pursue you.
One year has passed…
“Doctor Lu! Doctor Reyes wants to talk to you inside his office”
Luna was called by her colleague at lunch. She is now a certified doctor at Lucas hospital, the famous and largest hospital in the country.
This is her dream, to work at Lucas hospital owned by the Lucas family. Finally, it became true after all the hard work she did at the beginning of her journey ’till today.
“Ok, thank you,” she said, then cleaned her table and threw her trash. She then went to the washroom area to clean her hands and face, then wiped with a clean tissue.
Before she went outside the restroom, the door suddenly opened, and she saw the familiar woman smiling at her. She rolled her and eyes looked back at the woman with disgust.
“It’s been a while, Luna. You are finally a doctor” She looked at Luna from head to toe and sneered.
And you are still not one. Luna said in the back of her mind while looking at the woman she hated so much. Luna raised her left brow and looked at Luna from toe to face.
“Look who’s here? Well, that is because I am lucky. How about you Liza? It’s been a while and umm, I recently heard that you failed the board exam. Pardon my ears, and of course, I do not believe in gossip, unless….” she smiled back at her and crossed her arms. “You are really an idiot like what I have heard from our batchmates” Luna chuckled, trying to worsen Liza’s day.
The night after she got home from Frost’s residence, she immediately scrolled her phone to look at Liza’s name on the list, but she did not see any single name of her. She also heard from her batchmate that Liza did not pass the exam because she was caught cheating during the exam. Luna did not know about this until one of Liza’s haters spread it on social media.
Liza did not make it. She did not pass the board exam.
This made Luna very happy and proud. Liza will never be a certified doctor if she did not have a license. She smiled when she confirmed Liza’s name was not on the list. Liza tried to take the second exam after several months, but she failed again. Until now, Liza is still pursuing it. She is trying so hard.
How is she going to pass if she only knew how to cheat and not to study hard. What a loser. Karma is a bitch. You deserve it, snake. Luna thought.
“Do not worry Luna. After this year I will slap my certificate at your filthy face, and I will be the doctor head here” Liza got pissed when Luna mocked her.
“Really? I hope so. After hearing your impossible threat, I got terrified but … let’s see if you can pass, after all … you are stupid and only know how to cheat.” Luna smirks and walked past her, but Liza stopped her by grabbing her arm and pulled Luna to face her.
“You know what? You are shameless. You even work at Lucas hospital. Are you still after him? How many times do I have to tell you that Shawn will never crawl back to you? We are about to get married after he finishes his study abroad. I hope to see you at our engagement party” She smiled at Luna and flipped her hair and she walked away.
Liza’s words do not hurt her anymore.
