MEGAN
MY POSSESSIVENESS had me immensely stunned. I’d never done this before, but this bitch made my blood boil with jealousy. Jealousy? Well, that was definitely new.
What shocked me the most was Forrest. When I thought he would groan in disapproval or push me back, I got a different response. Instead, he kissed me back, wrapped his arms around my waist, and kissed me possessively, hungrily, and fiercely not caring what would his co-workers or these customers think about him. It was a kiss that made my toes curl. It was a kiss of possession, telling everyone he was taken, and I was pleased with that.
Whistles and applause broke us apart. Still catching my breath, I met his dark gaze. It was filled with lust that burned through me and twinkled with amusement as we stared in silence.
“Sorry about that,” I said guiltily.
His eyes narrowed. “You’re sorry about that?”
“I mean, this is not your style.”
“I like how you made your point.”
“Really?” I asked, surprised.
“Yeah.” He let go of me, and I sat back to my stool, my skin was tingling in heat and my core was burning with needs. Feeling victorious, I glanced at that bitch, and she was not facing Forrest anymore.
I was not a jealous type, or maybe I’d never been jealous of someone, and the only thing that came to my mind was to kiss Forrest, other than to approach the bitch that this man was belong to me because I didn’t know if he even belonged to me.
We slept together and I thought we were exclusive, but that was it. I was still navigating in uncharted waters. I claimed him mine, but that was only in my dream until he’d proven his point tonight.
“Your shift is almost over.” I looked down at my phone to check the time. “Can I wait for you outside?”
He nodded subtly and gave me his car key. “Lock the door and call me if someone will knock on the window.”
My eyes widened, stunned by his unexpected protective gesture. I thought that was the sweetest thing a man ever did for me.
Men weren’t exactly trustful when it came to their property, especially their cars. Knowing Forrest never invited anyone in his passenger’s seat, let alone giving me his key, my heart swelled that somehow he trusted it to me.
“I’ll be fine,” I assured him. “Don’t flirt with her or I would be poking someone’s eyes out.”
His intense dark eyes sparkled and shook his head before he moved toward the other customer.

The bad thing about having too many security alarms was when things happened like this, and we were wasting our time.
We barely reached inside his apartment before he pressed me against the thick wooden door, rolling his hips, grinding his massive hard erection into me.
“Ah!” The unbearable tension was coiling inside me that I had to gasp for air as he continued kissing me savagely. I was drowning with lust. I was dripping wet, burning with desire, floating in the air, and aching for more.
I lifted my right leg to wrap around his waist, searching for more friction. His talented hand was on my ass, the other was kneading my heavy and sensitive breast while his tongue was dominating me.
I wanted more of him, to feel his stiff dick inside me. I was frantic with so much pleasure. I was in a second of throwing myself into the delicious edge of orgasm, so close until I thought I had a heart attack.
Clearing of the throat had us froze. My heart literally stopped, then pound harder in my chest. My cheek was flaming with so much embarrassment that lasted a lifetime and beyond.
Forrest went completely rigid and cursed silently in hissed before he placed me down on my feet.
“Mama,” he uttered. His voice was still deep and husky as he turned around to face the woman in his living room.
Unable to lift my gaze, I fixed my dress and my hair, still feeling the ache, the flood of wetness between my thighs, and the numbness of my lips. I was sure I looked like shit and flushing.
I slept with men and had plenty of walks of shame, but this one was totally a different story. His mother was in his living room, watching us almost had sex against his door. And I never knew Forrest still had a family.
God, this is humiliating!
“Forrest, dear. Don’t be ridiculous. There’s nothing to be ashamed of. You’re a hot-blooded and lush lad.” Her accent—that was the first thing I noticed. She was wearing a white pants suit. She had curly dark shoulder-length layered hair, and she didn’t look like Forrest’s mother.
“I thought I am visiting you next month.” Forrest walked toward his mother, leaving me alone, still leaning against the thick wood. I couldn’t even stand straight. My knees were still weak and wobbling with the after-effect of how he was about to blow my mind.
“I had to come over here. I know everything, Forrest. I am so disappointed with you, and I’m not letting you do whatever this rubbish you’re planning.”
“Mama, please. Don’t do this to me.” He kissed his mother on the cheeks, her forehead, and pulled her into a hug. “Please, don’t stop me.”
“You are the only one I have left. If I have to knock you down and chain you somewhere, I would do that other than allowing you to face the man who left you. I thought we were over this.” His mother sighed. “I was entirely wrong. And you’ve been doing this for years behind my back? What would you get in all of these? I will drag you back to England with me if I have no other options.”
Back to England?
Forrest placed his hands on his hips, clearly wasn’t pleased with his mother’s outburst. I could feel the anger and disapproval seeping through his veins. His breathing turned deep, chest expanding widely, jaw clenched so tight as he paced back and forth.
“Clearly, your mother can’t change your mind, can she now? And I can’t watch you kill yourself either.” A sophisticated woman walked in. She was taller than me, wearing pants and a cream blouse. Her straight long dark hair was tied above her head. She was a definition of posh with eyes so sharp and big.
I shifted my gaze to Forrest, again he froze in his place. He then blinked as if he couldn’t believe the woman was in front of him.
“Meadow.” He almost choked out that name. His face was ashen.
Something shifted in the air to the way she looked at Forrest and the way he reacted after seeing her. The woman pulled him into a hug that made him stiffen. Then the huge rock on her finger flashed that almost blinded me. And I was almost knocked down to the floor when she cupped his face and kissed him even in front of his mother.
Oh, my god!
I was beyond shocked. My chest was beginning to hurt from extreme tightness. The chilling fear made me numb that I didn’t realize I was already pulling the door open, ready to flee.
Forrest forgot me in an instant. He didn’t even stop her. Was that his ring? Of course, it was his. They were kissing, weren’t they?
The hurt intensified when I looked at them one more time, and I just melted into the background. I didn’t exist in his life anymore.

“Come inside.” Mom wrapped her arm around my shoulder as she led me inside her house. “Thanks for calling, Meggie.”
“I’d nowhere to go other than my apartment. My friends were surely asleep at this time.” I let my tired and painful eyes scan around the living room. Since I left our old home three years ago, Mom bought a new house, and I never visited this place even once. If she didn’t talk to the taxi earlier, I wouldn’t find this address.
I ran my fingers against the white grand piano, beside the staircase. She loved to play, unlike me, I didn’t know a thing about instruments other than their names.
“Can I get you something, honey?”
I lifted my gaze to Mom. She was a therapist, and she didn’t have to say anything to know something was troubling me, but she never pushed or turned herself into a doctor even my dad was still alive.
Right now, she smiled at me—a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. She knew me too well, that I was hurting inside.
“Thanks, Mom. I wanna take a rest if you don’t mind.”
“Of course.” She walked closer to me and pulled me into a motherly hug. “I am here for you, always.”
“I know.” My voice finally broke. “I know, Mom.”
She led me upstairs, right to the hallway. “That room is always ready. I thought you might think of visiting me someday.”
“Thank you. I wish the circumstances are different.”
“I love you, Meggie.”
I couldn’t take it anymore. My tears were just pouring down my cheeks. With intense relief, I hugged her tightly and sobbed in her arms.
When I thought of shutting off the past and running away from my mother would make me forget the pain of losing someone and made me a better person, I was wrong. It never did. I should have listened to her. I should have faced my fears.
“It’s alright. It’s just a dark cloud. Tomorrow will be a new day.”
“I hope you’re right, Mom.” I knew she was always right, but I didn’t know this time because this was different.
I wiped my tears when Mom opened the room. It was exactly what I liked. The design, the bed, the walk-in closet, and even the colors—they were white and gold.
“My room is at the end of the hallway. The kitchen is just down, but there’s a clean kitchenette at the end corner—”
“Mom, I’m good.” I squeezed her hands and smiled tightly at her.
“I think it’s time for us to talk.”
“We’ll talk in the morning, I promise.” I kissed her cheek. “Good night, Mom.”
I took a deep breath when the door closed behind her. My eyes started to sting again.
I was so stupid.
Regrets came at the end. This was what I didn’t like. This was what I’d been avoiding. I should have stopped the madness before everything got too intense between me and Forrest. That was why I built walls for years because I couldn’t afford another heartbreak.
“Heartbreak?” I snorted.
I kicked my shoes off, collapsed myself to the bed, and let my tears fall to the corner of my eye.
I ignore the continued ringing of my phone until it stopped. I picked it from my purse to mute the tone when a message popped up, only to freeze in disbelief when I read the name on the screen.
WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU?
