FORREST
IT TOOK an effort to calm myself before I hit the dial button.
He picked up right away. “He will be at the Duncan Hotel this weekend. You happen not to be associated with this visit, have you?”
“I’d been waiting for this moment since I found out he’d been asking someone to dig into our past, Alan. Don’t stop me now, and it’s not that I will allow you to stop me if you will ever try.”
“He’s a twisted bastard, Forrest. You know it,” he said firmly. He must be fuming right now.
My temper boiled over. “Is there something you are not telling me? I don’t like surprises, Alan. You better tell me now before I face him.”
“I watched you grow up, son. I know this revenge plot you’ve been planning for years would not do any good for you. You have money, and damn it, Forrest, I don’t get it why you have to work in the nightclub when you’re developing a multi-million dollar tech.”
“Isn’t it the idea of keeping the low profile yours?” I reminded him. “About that, it’s not nearly done. I’m not even sure if we meet the deadline or get the deal. So don’t be a little too excited about it. We might fail for the second time.”
“You will get it if you just focus on that project.”
“You know I can’t do that. I have other priorities and matters that need more attention.” I already spent millions on this project, and I hired qualified people for the job so that I had time to fix my shits.
“You can, but you won’t, and you choose to spend your time risking your life just to satisfy your doubt of the truth.”
Before my mind could travel back to Megan, I focused on what really mattered at hand
“It’s only a matter of time before he finds me, Alan. I can’t risk my friends, and you know what happened to the man you and Mama asked to do the job.”
“Dealing with risk is a part of his job, Forrest. Get that conscience out of your system because we’ve been taking care of his family for years.”
“It won’t bring him back to life.”
“Is this why you are willing to risk yours with your revenge plot?” I could sense his frustration, but my decision was final. No one could change it, even him.
“This is not a revenge plot.”
“Then what do you call it? And what would your mother think of me if she will know that I was helping you to find this bastard all along?”
“She won’t find out unless you open your mouth. I just need answers.”
“Your mother is capable of giving you the answers you’ve been looking for.”
I sighed deeply. I got it why he was worried. I was here because of him, and if something happened to me, he would take responsibility for my actions. “I need to do this.”
“The reason why I was helping you was to find out who he was, his whereabouts, and not for you to pursue another plan.” He huffed from the other line. “You’re a loose cannon, Forrest.”
“I’ll be fine, Alan. Thanks for the info.”
“I hope I won’t regret this.” Before he hung up, he asked sarcastically, “Do you need anything else? A gun, a woman maybe before you walk into the war zone. How about a body bag?”
I looked up at the sky, realizing I was on the spot where a man was brutally murdered by one of his men—if the Intel was correct.
I grabbed the pack of cigarettes and took a stick. My hand froze in the air, and my stomach twisted with guilt. I had to close my eyes when I threw the stick away. I shook my head in disbelief, realizing how strong Megan’s impact on me, and one had ever affected me this way. I fished my phone and dialed her number instead.
“Thought you wouldn’t call.”
A voice at my back and the simultaneous ringing of the phone had me stilled.
I already had this strange sensation before I turned around. My heart was racing and the adrenaline was rushing through me the moment I met Megan’s gaze. It seemed surreal, but I knew for a fact that she was almost within arm’s reach. She was smiling at me with eyes sparkled against the yellow light from the post.
With excitement dizzying me, I was already quickening my pace before I blurted out. “What are you doing here?”
She answered me with her hands linked at the back of my neck, pulled me closer, and slammed her mouth into mine. I couldn’t do anything other than pressed my body against hers as my blood left my brain and rushed right into my cock. She tasted fruity, and I loved it.
“You’re a good boy tonight. You deserve a reward,” she said against our mouths.
“And you were naughty a while ago. I should punish you for that.”
She ended the kiss with a loud smack. “Does my punishment involves tying me or shackling my ankles? I would love to be naughty all the time.”
I groaned in anticipation. “I’d love to consider that. Why are you here?” I traced my thumb on her cheek, down to her red and well-kissed bottom lip. My cock throbbed when she darted her tongue out to lick my finger.
“Cam saw you going out of my apartment building this morning. She stayed with me for a while until we went out. Then I told her to send me here, and she was happy to oblige, thinking I would see you after your work.”
“Hmm. I don’t know that they make this and us a big deal. It seemed that everyone knew about us already.” I checked my watch. My break was almost over.
“Does it bother you?” she asked hesitantly, gaze flitting away.
“No. Can you stay at the bar until I finish my shift?”
Her gaze lifted, finally meeting mine. “Will you come back with me?”
“That’s the plan.” Her excitement had a huge effect on my heart. I kissed her forehead, pulled her into a hug, and inhaled her sweet and seductive smell into my lungs. “You always smell good.”
“So do you.” She dove her fingers into my hair. “Freshly showered, sweaty, and slicked. It doesn’t matter. I still like you.”
I closed my eyes. Heat enveloped my body. My cock stirred, growing thick in my pants before I let her go. I used the remaining ounce of my willpower to step back because I knew Megan wouldn’t hesitate if I initiated to take her on this rooftop.
I was back to work and I was lucky that I had a chance to check her a few times despite the bulk of customers coming in. I served her the usual drink she ordered, and she behaved exactly the way I liked. The dark anticipation—hot, sweaty, and wild night had my heart hammered throughout the night.
A woman in a decent red dress occupied the stool beside Megan. She was perhaps a white-collar worker. Her red lips spread into a flirty smile then gestured her well-manicured finger at me. She may be the type of woman that someone should be bringing home to meet a family. She didn’t affect me the way Megan was, who was already in deep frowned.
“What can I get you, miss?” I leaned my hands against the counter.
“How about you offer me the best you’ve got?”
“Right away.” I tapped my fingers over the counter.
I was about to turn back when someone grabbed my arm. I froze in the middle. I didn’t have to give a second look, I knew right away it was Megan. I could feel the blood rushing through my veins and surged right down south. Her hand slid down to my hand so erotic that I had to hold a groan when my cock started to thicken inside my pants.
Forgetting all my restraints, I turned to face her, without warning, her hands chained around my neck and her lips crashed into mine.
