Luna didn’t know what to answer. She felt embarrassed because Maximus caught her glancing at him. She thinks that maybe staring at someone was a crime even if it wasn’t because of their blessed looks. Luna thought that Maximus might have a bad impression of her because of what she did. She already troubled him at the parking lot a while ago, then in the restaurant because of a waiter, and now… inside the car.
“Uh, no. I mean… umm. I-it is because of… of… your face, I mean… umm, never mind” Luna gazed at the car window not to be noticed by Maximus. Why is she stuttering too much? She cannot stop blushing and smiling. Maximus noticed her then smiled.
He remembered that other girls used to look at him like Luna whenever she walked out of his car or whenever girls saw his face. He used to feel disgusted or cringe whenever he saw women drooling over him. Now, he finally understands them. He’s handsome which girls cannot help themselves or even resist taking.
Luna was not like this. Her eyes and attention were only for Shawn, but after meeting Maximus, she cannot stop herself from adoring the handsome face. She couldn’t keep her eyes away from him. His looks were a real blessing from heaven.
“You have good taste, then,” Maximus said teasingly. When the traffic lights turned red, he slowly stopped the car, touched Luna’s hand, and put his eyes on her face.
Luna lowered her head when their gaze met. He felt like his eyes were pulling her into him. They kept staring at each other until the horn of cars behind them rang.
They both looked away when they realized that they were staring at each other. Maximus started driving the car and Luna kept quiet. She would never do it again. It was really embarrassing to glance at Maximus and get caught.
Luna heard her phone rang. She looked at her phone immediately and found out that Liza sent her a message with a picture of them.
What did she want this time? Luna thought. Is Liza not done with her?
Guess what, we are getting married so maybe I will send you our wedding invitation soon 😉
Luna suddenly tightened her grip while holding her phone. How dare Liza send her a message with their picture together about them getting married? Did she really want to kill Luna? It is already enough that Liza accomplished her plans to ruin Luna and Shawn’s relationship, but it seems that Liza was still not satisfied with what is happening to Luna. She wants Luna to suffer a lot.
Maximus noticed her little action. She looked so worried and tensed. Somehow, he got worried for her and held her hand. He felt like the woman beside her was too fragile. He wondered why Shawn’s standard towards women became pathetically low. He even made her a real woman cry.
“Are you okay?” He asked while still holding Luna’s hand.
Luna nodded right away but, in a few seconds, tears started to flow down her cheeks. She started to break down. Everything that happened today is too much for her to keep inside her.
Why are they getting married so suddenly? She would never imagine Shawn marrying another woman, especially her ex-best friend. Luna thought.
This is really a heart-breaking revelation.
“I thought you’re fine?” Maximus asked. He immediately stopped the car and faced Luna.
“I thought so, too” she replied in a low voice then got his hands off of her.
Luna thought a while ago it was fine breaking up with Shawn, not until she received the text from Liza. After all, seeing the person you loved walking away with someone else cannot just make you cry, but can also break your heart apart.
“You don’t have to pretend everything’s fine”. Maximus said.
“If a person says he or she’s okay, it doesn’t mean it is true. It is just a way to avoid others getting worried” Luna explained while crying. She does not want to argue with him right now.
She cannot believe that Maximus did not get a hint.
“Why? Because you’re afraid I might get worried about you?”
“Not really. It just that … if you are worried about someone, it means you cared about them”
But the truth is nobody cared about Luna before Shawn came into her life. But everything’s different now, and what she got right now is herself and only herself.
“Then, let me get worried about you!” Maximus said in a serious tone. He even gave her his white handkerchief.
Luna froze when she heard Maximus.
He wanted to be worried about me. That means he cares, right? Is he serious or just drunk? She thought.
Luna suddenly laughed between her cries. She didn’t expect to hear such words especially from a serious man like Maximus.
Maximus got confused about Luna’s reaction. He saw how Luna wiped her tears using the handkerchief he gave.
Why is she laughing while crying? Is she crazy? Definitely a crazy woman. Maximus thought.
“Thank you, but you don’t have to. Worry about yourself and Sarah, as well as your family” Luna responded with a smile and relief.
Somehow Maximus eased her pain. She stopped crying in front of Maximus. After all, Maximus was not her close friend.
“No, I will do what I want,” Maximus said seriously. Luna stopped laughing and started to look at him with a confused face.
“Seriously, I mean it. You don’t have to”
He looked straight at the front while driving and to avoid Luna protesting about him started worrying about her. She doesn’t want Maximus to oblige her.
When they arrived at her home, she immediately went out of the car and did not wait for Maximus to open the door for him. She really wanted to get out of the car.
“Maximus, Thank you so much for today. Goodnight”, then she quickly ran away and went inside. She didn’t wait for Maximus to respond.
When she heard the car drove away, she sighed but froze when she realized something. Why did she not notice it earlier?
“How come did he know my address? I didn’t and never said my address”
