Chapter 54

Book:Werewolf Burke Sisters Published:2024-5-1

“Oh, so now you’re saying I’m being unreasonable; huh? … I never knew that loving somebody so much that you’d be willing to do anything for them … even if that meant having to leave one’s own pack … was considered as being unreasonable. I had no idea … my apologies.”
“Please, Helena; that’s not what I meant.”
“Then, what did you mean; Walter? Please; enlighten me?”
Walter’s speechless, and appears rather flustered now; as he nervously rubs his fingers through his hair. … I snap my fingers, a mere inch or two in front of face, to draw his attention…
“Well … I’m waiting.”
“Look, Helena; just because you’d be willing to desert the pack so you don’t have to marry Alan, doesn’t mean that I’m willing to do the same … or; willfully allow myself to be thrown out the pack, just to avoid being married off to Raina or Rhiana.
Besides … when I think about it … if my uncle’s going to have me marry anyone else other than you; they aren’t such a bad choice to have.”
I can virtually feel my heart tearing apart; while, I momentarily bite my tongue, as I scornfully glare at him. I can’t believe that the wolf that I once loved so dearly … the one that I believed was my true mate … is the same wolf that’s standing in front of me right now.
I fervidly wipe away the tears off my face; and, take in a deep breath as I try to regain my composure. Then I disgustedly tell him…
“You know what … forget the fact that you aren’t willing to refuse to get married because you don’t won’t to be thrown out of the pack … the thing that really disgusts me the most about this whole ordeal…
You’re selfishly only thinking about yourself; and, willing to put my sisters into such a hurtful situation, where they’re being forced to choose among themselves who’s going to have to marry you … knowing damn well how much it must be torturing them; feeling as if they’re somehow betraying me by going through with this arranged marriage, concocted by your uncle.
You’re not even wolf enough to stand up to your uncle, and ask if you could marry anyone else; besides my sisters. … In my eyes; that makes you despicable.”
I turn around; and, start to walk away. Walter quickly throws his arms around me, and snugly wraps them around my waist; while, drawing me in closely into his body, and resting his chin on my shoulder.
I respond by immediately stomping down on his foot; while, at the same time, forcefully pulling apart his hands to break his hold. Then … I sharply spin about, and deliver an abrupt knee-blow to his groin; causing him to instantly drop to the ground, on his knees. … Thank you for all those prior instructional lessons, Bellona; you were right, when you told us that they may come in handy someday.
Once again, I start to walk away; but, then I stop and turn around…
“I’ll tell you what, Walter; seeing how you’re not wolf enough to stand up to your uncle, and ask him not to have you marry my sisters … I think I’ll pay Alpha Gordon a visit, myself…”
Then; I resolutely tell him…
“Yeah … and, I’ll give him a proposal of my own. Or, rather; more like a choice for him to make. …
I’ll tell him that he either expels you to the Metis Pack, or I’ll refuse to marry Alan; and, he could kick me out of the pack. … How’s that sound to you; asshole?”
A couple of hours later … at the Gamma’s residence…
**Helena’s POV**
After my emotionally-draining confrontation with Walter, I shape-shifted into my wolf-form; and, took a very long run through the woods … giving Aphrodite a chance to run free and stretch her legs; while I took the time to try to calm down and clear my head.
Before heading back home, I stopped off at the pack’s recreational facility to grab a shower; making sure to wash away the smell of my oozed out vaginal juices from my crotch … and, threw my soiled panties into a half-full trash can of discarded, used tampons; which, I’m hoping will mask the odor of my tossed underwear. … I want no more lingering smell … or, future smell … of sexual odor left behind on my body, caused by that wolf.
I’m heading up the walkway towards our house; when she steps out the front door, onto the porch. Great … figures the first one I’d run into when I get back would have to be Bellona. And, by the serious expression on her face; it looks like she’s been waiting to discuss something not-so-pleasant with me.
I’m still in a lousy mood; and, the last thing I want to do now is get into another heated argument … and; the last person I want to be in a heated argument with now is Bellona. But, I suppose that doesn’t really matter much anyway; because, this is Bellona we’re talking about here, after all … and, of course; she’s going to dive right into it…
“I heard you met up with Walter today; and, got into an argument with him over him marrying one of the twins.” A devilishly mischievous grin emerges across her mouth. “I also heard it ended on a not-so-friendly note; with him doubled-over on the ground, after you kneed him in the nuts. … I know I showed you how; but, I honestly didn’t think you’d have it in you to actually do it. I’m impressed.”
Hmm … I was expecting my foul mood to immediately sky-rocket as soon as Bellona initiated her conversation; but, surprisingly enough, after hearing her say that, my mood seems to have been slightly elevated … I can even feel a small smile starting to form; as I jocosely quip…
“Yes, well; you always seem to be impressed by anything involving violence … but; thanks for the compliment anyway, I suppose.”
Bellona lets out a short chuckle. “Sure; no problem.”
“You heard about it already, huh? Did you hear about it from one of the guys on the DSD … or, did Walter whine about it himself to you?”
