Adaline
It’s funny how in just a matter of a month so many relationships and friendships were made. Of course, they didn’t have such a strong bond but time will surely fix that.
As for me, remember that time when I said I needed time and love to fix my poor, little broken heart? It seems that I found the missing piece that could help me love again. And that missing piece is just holding my hand, making me feel high, like I’m on cloud nine. Making me feel loved, content and happy.
I placed my free hand on his arm and leaned my head on his shoulder while walking with him through the nicely illuminated Fair in the night.
We were a little bit behind Jemima and Finn who were also holding each other, their arms draped around the other one’s shoulder.
It was a lovely night worth to remember. A night in which love is in the air.
I could feel the happiness consuming me, eating me alive. I felt somewhat guilty for being in such a good mood. But, I don’t want this positive energy to leave me. I want it to remain there forever.
I felt my hand being softly squeezed. Looking down, I smiled, my heartbeat increasing. I raised my head up, and smiled at Ayato who was staring down at me.
He kissed the top of my head, whispering something that I almost didn’t catch. “I’m so happy.”
I grinned at him, and stopped. The happiness I was feeling was too much for me to handle on my own, so I hugged him tight.
I wanted to scream and shout, but I couldn’t. A lump has been put in my throat not letting me share my happiness with everybody.
He hugged me back, hiding his face in the crook of my neck. Pressing his lips on the sensitive skin of my neck, he remained like that. For a few seconds, more to my disapproval, before he retracted and leaned back to look into my eyes.
He was gazing into my eyes, his eyes showing the exact same emotions I was feeling.
Leaning forward, he kissed me. I closed my eyes and returned the sweet kiss he was planting on my lips.
He started to move his lips against mine, making me take his lead. I wasn’t experienced, but considering by the little smirk he let out, I was getting good at it.
Ayato cupped my chin in his hand and raised my head a little it up. Biting my bottom lip, he asked for entrance.
That’s when I got nervous, but opened my mouth nonetheless.
I was so embarrassed by the way his tongue was massaging mine that my face felt like the sun and had the color of a cherry.
Heh, cherry…
“Eww! PDA alert!” A girly voice screamed, making us snap back to reality and end our make out. I frowned, a little bit annoyed.
Turning my head from where the voice was heard, I saw Paula and Juliet standing right beside each other, smirking at us. With small steps they approached us.
“Polly, you owe me 20 bucks,” Juliet told her, making Paula snap her head towards her friend with a frown on her face.
“What? Pft, no. Of course not.”
Ayato and I were watching them, puzzled. Looking at each other for a short second, we returned to watching the now arguing girls.
“I think the answer is yes. We made a bet. Remember?”
“Umm, what bet?”
“Stop the acting. You know what I’m talking about.”
“No, I don’t.”
“We made a bet, Paula!”
“What bet?!”
“We made a bet! I said that Ayato and Adaline are going to get together in this week and you said that they were going to get together next month! I obviously won! Now pay me the money!” Juliet held out her palm, shaking it slightly for Paula to put the money in it. Paula huffed and searched in her purse. Taking the money out, she put them in Juliet’s palm who took them happily.
“What a stepsister you are. Taking my money because of some stupidass bet. You should give my money back!”
“Just if I’m your wannabe in school, that doesn’t mean I have to be one also when I’m outside the school.”
“Well then, excuse me because you chose to be this way!”
“You know that I’m very shy, and only have the guts to speak when I’m with you! And that’s occasionally!”
“Are you seriously saying this in public?! God, Jules, keep your mouth shut sometimes. Some people might hear you!”
“Not my fault that I’m an honest person. Unlike you who is a master at lying and acting.”
“Excuse me?! You, lady, lie all day home! ‘Yes, mom, my grades are the best’ , ‘No, dad, I don’t have a boyfriend’ , ‘No, I didn’t hit Paula! She’s accusing me for nothing! I didn’t do anything!’ and of course that our parents believe you because you’re the angel of the family. She never does anything wrong!”
Juliet sheepishly smiles at Paula who was glaring at her.
“Umm,” Ayato and I finally decided to acknowledge both of the girls about out presence, and it seemingly worked. They snapped our head at us.
I was incapable of speaking due to so many information that was trying to process in my mind. Paula and Juliet were actually stepsisters?!
I peeked at Ayato who seemed to be in the same confused state as I was in. Looking back at the girls, Paula groaned.
“Geez, Juliet. Now they know.”
“What to know?” A new voice came in, making us aware of Jem’s presence.
“That I’m Paula’s stepsister,” Juliet rapidly said, Paula face-palming.
“I give up. Now the whole high school will know. See if I give a shit.”
Jem’s eyes were widened with shock and curiosity.
“You two are sisters?!”
Juliet nodded her head excited and said “Yes!” while Paula glared at Juliet and said “Sadly”.
Juliet snapped her head to Paula and returned the glare.
“Wait, wait, wait,” Another voice spoke, this time Finn who, seems like, wanted some answers. “Why did you keep it a secret?”
They looked at Finn, Paula being the first one to speak.
“It slipped our mind.”
“But, how? Why haven’t you told me this?” Jem asked, looking at Paula while furrowing her eyebrows.
“It slipped my mind,” Paula said yet again. Jem pouted.
After a few minutes in which we tried to clear up everything, we left.
What a day…

“Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday, dear Ayato! Happy birthday to you!” We all sang while circling the table on which was the cake. Clapping as we ended singing, someone hollered.
“Yo, bro! Make a wish!” It was Tyron that spoke.
Ayato rolled his eyes, stopped for a few seconds to make his wish, then blew the lighted candles.
We cheered and clapped him, then went to give him our gifts while Ayato’s parents were cutting the cake for us to eat.
I was watching Ayato closely when Tyler went to him to give his gift. He accepted it without a word, then drew Tyler closer to him, and whispered something in his ear.
Tyler’s face remained stoic, and he sharply gave a nod when Ayato stopped talking to him.
I went up to Ayato when Tyler left, and handed him my gift. He purposefully touched my hands with his when he took the gift from me. He gave me a mischievous smile that only screamed trouble. I narrowed my eyes at him. What does he have on his mind?
After all of us gave him our gifts, he began to open them. He was keeping mine for the end, I noticed.
What the monkey’s ass does he want have in mind? I’m actually pretty scared…
Finally coming down to my gift, he began to open it slowly on purpose. I could see the excitement in his eyes, but his lips gave out the act he was trying to put.
A devilish little smile busted him. At least to me.
The other just shrugged that off thinking that it was a smile of, as his eyes read, excitement. I knew netter than to believe that.
Taking the snapback in his hands and examining it, he moved his eyes to watch me.
Coming to me, he smirked. I blinked at him, what he wanted to do still unknown to me. I knew it wasn’t something good, but what was it?!
“I don’t like the gift,” He suddenly said, making me stop breathing. His words were registering in my head.
Is he serious?
The mischievous glint in his eyes told me something, but his words told me otherwise.
“I think there’s a better gift you could’ve given me.”
That’s when it dawned on me.
“Like?” I flirted back, not resisting.
Fuck. All of our friends are here! His parents are here!
“Hmm,” He hummed, wrapping a hand around my waist and drawing me closer to him. “Let me think.”
I gave him a knowing little smile, his smirk growing. He leaned in down towards me, his lips only centimeters apart from mine.
“Something like a kiss?”
I let out a shaky breath, feeling already dizzy from the sudden proximity. I closed my eyes and snaked my arms around his neck.
“But your parents are watching.”
“So?”
I opened my eyes. Staring into his eyes, being fascinated by his deep brown irises, I knew that in this moment I wouldn’t care about who will see us , I’d just care about him and nobody else.
“Shut up and kiss me.”
And he did. He kissed me.
We heard squeals and whistles around us, making me smile against his lips.
We stopped, and slowly began leaning back from each other to look around.
All of our friends were watching us smiles or smirks on their face. Most of the smirks directed towards me by the girls.
“Hello?”
Diana’s voice made us turn our attention to her. She was speaking on the phone.
“Yeah, hi, Gemma! How are you? How is it going?”
Gemma? …
Is she talking with…
My mother.
Oh God…
“Why I called you at this hour? I just wanted to say… Adaline, your daughter is with my son Ayato. As in a relationship.”
She stopped talking for a moment , my mother probably speaking on the other line.
Oh, the embarrassment…
I didn’t think my parents will find out about out relationship like this.
“Yeah, I’m going to move Ayato to another room.”
Pause.
Wait… She’s going to what?!
I looked towards Ayato. His eyebrows were furrowed, a little pout on his lips.
His expression was exactly matching mine.
“Okay, thank you. Yeah, I’m going to talk to you tomorrow. Yep. Okay. Good night,” Diana hung up, turning towards Ayato and I. My breath hitched in my throat.
I was waiting for the worst.
“Okay, kids, you can go and pack,” She told the others, then her eyes narrowed on us. I gulped. “I want you in separate rooms.”
And she left.

“No, mom. We didn’t do anything like that. We got together just yesterday. Yesterday! I’m not lying! Mom! When did I ever lie?!” I was talking with my mother on the phone right now, while being in the car that was taking us to home. Diana was driving.
Ayato was in another car.
Talking about worst car ride ever.
“Do you remember when you were five years old? You stole Jemima’s teddy bear and lied that you didn’t!”
“Mom, I was five! Five!”
“So?! It doesn’t matter!”
“It does!”
“Adaline Maria Morgan, don’t use that tone with me, young lady! I’m your mother! I was the one who brought you to this world! Show some respect!”
I closed my eyes and resisted the urge to throw my phone outside of this car.
Instead, I answered calmly. As calmly as I could.
“Yes, mother.”
“Now, that’s better.”
“Yes, mother.”
“I want you to be a virgin when you come back here.”
“Yes, mo- MOM!” I suddenly screamed, making Diana watch me from the corner of her eyes I was sitting in the passenger seat.
“So you were lying when you were saying that you didn’t do anything with him.”
“I wasn’t. Mom. The question came too unexpected for me, that’s all. Can we please change the subject?”
“Mhm. Okay.”
I knew the subject will still continue home, but at least for now it’s over.
“I have to leave for work.”
“Okay, mom. By-”
“Not so soon. Samantha said to drop by her house when you come back. And take Ayato with you. She said something about apologizing.”
I smiled, happy that she thought about us.
“Okay. Now go mom. Don’t be late! See you when I’m home. I love you! Bye!”
“I love you too,” She told me and hung up. I sighed and leaned my head back to rest a little.
This conversation really got me tired.
“My son really likes you,” A voice suddenly said, making my eyes snap open. I looked at Diana who was paying attention at the road.
“He hasn’t liked someone that much since-” She stopped. I knew who was she referring to.
“Emily,” I whispered, looking down to my hands that were placed on my lap.
“I guess he told you.”
I nodded my head.
“Look, Adaline. I know that my son can be a flirt and a jokester, but he has a good heart,” She extended her arm, and placed her free hand on my hands. I looked up to her to see her smiling.
“Take care of him.”
I smiled and nodded my head.
I will.
