Adaline
An arm wrapped around my waist, and pulled me to the side, making Anthony lean in to much and fall.
I was looking at Anthony , wide eyed, not knowing if I should laugh, help him to get up or scream at him for trying to kiss me.
“Didn’t your mom tell you that is not nice to touch something that isn’t yours?” A chest rumbled behind me, as the person who had his arm around my waist hugged me tighter from behind.
I gasped at the feeling.
Anthony got up, and glared at something behind me. He spit out some sand, and scurried off after saying “Fuck you.”
I turned around and instantly was greeted by Zach’s cold glare towards Anthony. He looked down at me, the cold glare vanishing, and being replaced by a warm smile.
“Are you okay?”
“I am now. Thank you, Zach,” I grinned at him. He unwrapped his arm from waist, and took a step back.
“Sorry. I needed to hold you and say that you’re mine for that guy to let you alone,” Zach scratched the back of his neck, a light blush forming on his cheeks.
I laughed. “Don’t worry, Zach. I know.”
He gave me a grin of his own, and took my hand in his.
“Let’s go into the water,” He said, and went towards the sea, pulling me along with him.
My eyes seemed to be fixed on our intertwined hands. It made me feel giddy and warm inside. His hand was way bigger than mine, and was holding my hand tighter. It was like he didn’t want me to let go.
I won’t, I said in my head, smiling.
Snapping my eyes from our hands, I saw that he was taking me to our friends.
There were also Ayato and Tyler.
I stopped dead in my tracks right when my feet almost touched the wet sand.
Zach stopped along with me, turning around. He gave me a confused and worried look.
“What’s wrong? Are you afraid of water?” He asked, coming closer to me. He hugged me, my face pressed to his bare chest. Oh God…
“Don’t worry. I’ll be there holding you if you’re scared,” He spoke softly, like I was a kid. It made me feel happy knowing that he was worried about me.
I felt a pair of lips on the top of my head. He kissed me.
My eyebrows shot up in surprise, my heart beating faster and faster.
The lips lingered a little more there, before he rose up his head to place his chin on the top of my head. He began to rub my back, making me sigh.
I closed my eyes, and hugged him back.
Out of nowhere, Zach’s hands came around my legs and my back, and raised me up for him to hold me bridal style.
I shrieked out of surprise, and wrapped my arms around his neck.
He began to run into the water, laughing.
“Zach! You’re so sneaky! Idiot, let me down!” I screamed at him while laughing. To be honest , I didn’t want him to put me down. It was fun.
When the water was at the level of his hips, he put me down.
He placed his hands on my waist, both of us laughing.
I slapped his chest. “You’re such a sneaky idiot.”
He raised his hands up in surprise. “Hey! I won’t deny that!” He smirked, making me chuckle.
After a few seconds I stopped chuckling, just gazing in his eyes. They were sparkling a lively, light green.
I broke our gaze, and looked down.
“What’s wrong?” He cupped my chin in his hand, making me raise up my head. He was furrowing his eyebrows.
I sighed. “I still don’t have the response for you. I still need to think over that date. I’m sorry.”
He seemed confused at the beginning, but then his face broke into a grin. He kissed my cheek, making me froze.
“Don’t worry. As I said, you’re worth the wait. I’ll be there with our friends. Join us when you want,” He told me, pointing to our friends. I nodded my head. He left.
* * *
I was wandering around the streets of the little city close to the sea.
I was trying to clear my minds. Walking on the beach for that purpose wasn’t a good thing, seeing that there were too many people. Too noisy.
The streets weren’t that crowded. After all, it is very warm and sunny outside, so almost all the people were on the beach now.
I looked at the clear blue sky, rubbing my cold hands over my arms.
Even though outside was warm, my hands were extremely cold. Maybe it was because I was scared.
I didn’t know what answer to give Zach.
Yes or no?
What if he’s like Tyler?
What if he plays me?
I’m scared.
I want to say yes, but I don’t really know what to do.
It’s so frustrating.
I might just as well say yes, and see how it works.
I passed by an alleyway, getting the goosebumps from how creepy it looked.
A hand gripped my biceps, and dragged me into the alley.
I was about to scream, but a palm pressing on my mouth stopped me.
I blinked a few times, and found myself staring at some familiar dark brown eyes.
I let out a sigh of relief.
He took his hand from my mouth and the one on my arm, taking a step back.
“Ayato,” I glared. “What do you want?”
“I saw you and Zach.”
Way to be so straightforward.
“And?” I crossed my arms over my chest.
“And? I don’t like him. You shouldn’t stay with him. He’s dangerous.”
I huffed. “Says who?”
“Says me,” Ayato’s eyes bored into mine, his lips set into a thin line.
“Cut your crap, Anders. I won’t buy your bullshit. You are just jealous that he just likes me,” I rolled my eyes at him.
In just a blink of eyes, he was right in front of my face, out noses touching.
I widened my eyes. The organ we name heart trying to kill me from how fast it beats.
“And so what if I am?” He spoke in a low and husky voice, making me weak in the knees. He put his hands on my waist, making me shiver. I closed my eyes.
He began to lean in, and when I thought he will kiss me, his lips went right beside my ear.
“I’ll let you have a little fun, but remember that I won’t let you go,” He gave a low chuckle right beside my ear, making me gasp. He moved his lips to my neck, giving me butterfly kisses.
Goosebumps appeared all over my body when I felt his hands drawing circles on my waist.
His hands stopped, and he retracted from giving me those addicting kisses on my neck. I blew out a shaky breath that I didn’t know I was holding.
I opened my eyes when I didn’t hear him say anything. I saw him looking at my waist, his hands now on my hips.
He had a concerned look on his face, yet his eyes were dark. He was angry.
I looked at my waist, and that’s when I saw it.
Four scars, two on each side of my waist, from when Tyler assaulted me.
My heart stopped for a second, before beginning to beat faster and faster.
Ayato touched the scars with the tips of his fingers, his eyes visibly darkening.
He let out a breath, clearly trying to contains his anger.
“Who did this?”
I gulped at the hearing of his voice. It was low and not playful. His teeth were gritted.
“Answer me, Adaline! Who the fuck did this?!” He shouted, punching the wall behind me. I didn’t even know that there was a wall behind me , in the first place.
I heard a crack, and I thought that Ayato broke his hand.
He didn’t broke his hand. He broke the wall.
I widened my eyes in fear, and whimpered.
His eyes softened a little when she saw me whimpering and flinching away from him.
“Adaline. I’ll ask one more time. Who did this?!”
Without knowing I began to cry.
All those imagines of Tyler assaulting me kept on replaying in my head, making me more and more scared.
I shook my head at Ayato.
“I c-can’t t-tell you.”
“Why?” I felt some arms come around me. They were warm and comforting. I sobbed in his chest, and wrapped my arms around him. I don’t care right now. I just want to feel safe and protected right now.
“He w-will know. H-he w-will f-found me, and j-just do again w-what he d-did.”
“What he did?” Ayato asked me, careful with his tone.
“He- a-ss-sault-t-ed me.”
“When?”
I swallowed, a lump forming in my throat.
“At the party.”
“Was that guy Tyler told me about or someone else?”
He didn’t ask me straight about Tyler which I was glad that he didn’t. I don’t know how I would’ve reacted, to be honest.
“S-someone e-else.”
“Shit,” Ayato whispered. He knew.
I began to sob harder.
“P-please don’t t-tell h-him that I-I told you about w-wh-” It was getting very hard to talk, and Ayato, observing this, stopped me.
“Shh, don’t worry. I won’t.”
I let out a shaky breath of relief, and continued to cry in his chest for what seemed as hours. He wasn’t complaining. He just kept on rubbing my back soothingly.
Please, God, don’t let him do something stupid to Tyler.
