Adaline
As I eat my cereal, Jemima was doing her make-up with my mom helping her. It seems like they made up and my father was reading the newspaper. The only sound was the sound of the birds outside. I listened to them , feeling peaceful and content.
I looked at my mother and Jemima. She was trying to help Jemima but they only knew how to overuse the make-up. As I took a spoon of cereal in my mouth, I commented.
“Why don’t you try to do your make-up more discreet? That way you’ll be more beautiful and cute,” I pointed with my spoon at them. They turned their head to me with an ‘are-you-serious?!’ look. I shrugged. “What?”
My mom shook her head. “Yeah. As if you know how to do the make-up or how to dress. Yesterday you were looking like a person who was high at the dinner. I wanted to tell you that but I couldn’t , because Diana and Roderic were there. You are still looking like that!” She pointed to my outfit. With my mouth full, I looked down at my outfit. I was wearing some red low-top converses, some skinny black jeans and a white T-shirt with the words wrote in black: ‘Two Words, One Finger’ . Oh , and my zip up black hoodie.
I looked at my mom with an eyebrow raised. I swallowed what was in my mouth before speaking. “I don’t care how I look. If I’m comfortable, then it’s cool for me,” I raised from my seat and took my water bottle. I took a few gulps of water and put it in my backpack. I took a mint gum and popped it in my mouth.
“Au revoir, ma belle famille!” (Goodbye, my beautiful family!) I said that in a fake French accent and bowed , before going out of the house. I don’t know French, is just that I know a few words.
I need to leave more early than my sister , because I walk to school. Mom and dad bought us a car but I let my sister drive it. She needs it , because she is popular and can’t be seen without a car. I don’t mind it. I got my driver license but I don’t drive.
I took my earphones out of my backpack and plug them in my phone. I put one earphone in my ear and put some music.
Immediately, ‘Don’t Tell ‘Em’ by Jeremih came and I began to sing along.
” Rhythm is a dancer, I need a companion
Girl, I guess that must be you
Body like the summer, touching like no other
Don’t you tell ’em what we do
Don’t tell ’em
Don’t tell ’em
You ain’t even
Don’t tell ’em-”
As I was singing , a hot air fanned my ear, making me scream and jump away from the stranger that crept up behing me. I turned around quickly, already prepared to meet my rapist , but you know who I saw…
“Ayato…” I grumbled. The earphone has already fallen from my ear when I jumped away from him. He chuckled and good God, that sounded beautiful as hell. No! Don’t think like this!
“Cherry! I must say, you do have a good voice!” He scoot closer to me , making me take a few steps back.
I rolled my eyes. “Yeah, yeah… whatever,” I muttered, turned on my heels and began to walk away from him and more closer to the school. Damn, school sounds better than him right now.
“Wait! Cherry!” He screamed and began to run towards me. I quickened my pace. Go away!
“Cherry!” He came beside me. “Cherry!” He gave me a nudge with his shoulder. I think that smoke was already going out of my ears. “Adaline!” He screamed in my ear , making me jump. I put my hand on my heart to calm it. After I calmed myself down, I began to hit Ayato.
“You fucking little son of a bitch! You scared me to death!” I shouted at him. I growled out of frustation and began to walk away, putting more pressure on my feet as I walked making them to make some kind of sound when they met with the ground.
“You didn’t want to talk with me,” He shrugged , ran a hand through his soft looking hair and then put his hands in his pockets. The earphone was hanging at my side so I took it , stopped the music, plug them out of my phone and put the earphones back in the backpack.
I turned to Ayato. “You don’t get the signals, don’t you? Well, let this get into that thick head of yours,” I tapped my head with my finger. “I. Don’t. Like. You!” I put emphasis on each word. He smirked and shrugged.
“I’ll make you love me , that’s for sure. But until then, I’ll keep annoying you twenty four seven,” He winked and went inside the school’s garden. We were already at school?
“Oh and Cherry!” I turned my head to him. “Don’t you tell ’em what we do!” He screamed to the top of his lungs and pointed to all the students in the school’s garden. They all looked at me, ones with some nasty glares and others with some smirks, smiles or bored expression on their face. I blushed and looked down.
That little asshole…

Don’t you tell ’em what we do…
I repeated his words in my mind. I scoffed as I walked down the halls , earning a few confused and weird glances. I ignored them.
Don’t you tell ’em what I’ll do to you when I catch you , Anders. And I don’t mean it in the romantic way.
The bell that rang interrupted my thoughts. I looked around me and saw that the halls were clean , not a student here. I tapped my chin withmy index finger, thinking.
What hour do I have now? I think I have Biology. Is not a problem , I’m very good at this subject.
I decided to ditch the school , because I was an expert at Biology. Yeah, no. I just knew more than the students in our class do.
I wandered around the halls where surrounded the deadly silence. Boy, this halls gives me the creeps.
I shivered out of fear. After 10 minutes I arrived at the janitor’s closet on the last floor of this school. I went in and flicked the light on , because it was pitch black. I moved some brooms and detergents and a ladder began to be seen. I flicked off the switch, smiled and began to climb up the leader. The ladder went in a room and there was a door. I opened the door and went outside. This door leads to the school’s building. I used to come here when I was upset, sad, when I did want to be alone or when I didn’t want to be at hours.
The air is a bit cold here, but nothing I couldn’t handle. Here , you have a view for the sunset or dawn and it’s very beautiful , I could tell. Now, the sun is a little down to halfway from being up on the sky. The birds were flying and chirping around. The chilly wind was caressing my hot cheeks , making me shiver. Nothing could disturb this atmosphere and view.
“What are you doing here?” Only he could. I rolled my eyes and looked at him. If I would give him a light push , then…
“Hey! What are you thinking there?” He asked , fully turning towards me. He was sitting on the edge of this building and my palm was tickling because of the want to push him. Of course that I’m joking. Not.
“Don’t you think that you ask to many questions? By the way, you should leave from there,” I pointed to where he was standing. He looked down and then back at me with furrowed eyebrows.
“Why?”
“Because I could push you. The human race will thank me for killing you,” I put my hands on my hips. Ayato smirked and got up. He had that mischievous glint in his eyes that made me wonder what thought does he have in his head. He turned around and that’s when my heartbeat speed up. No. He will not.
He stretched out his arms. Every thing seemed to slow down in that second. The wind blew his hair lightly and the sun was shining on him , making me think that we were in some kind of movie. But this was reality and I knew that if he would jump , he would die. He straightened up and then he jumped.
I widened my eyes and rushed to the place of where he jumped. “Ayato!” I screamed , tears blurring my eyes. “I was just joking!”
“Aww, Cherry. You care for me!” I heard a voice and I began to search with my eyes frantically for him. I turned around and there he stood, not even a foot away from me. I took a step back, surprised. I lost my blance and began to fall backwards. “Woah!” Ayato caught me in his arms at the right time. His arms were around my waist and I was standing over the edge and , if he would let me go, I would die. I looked at him, scared. He smirked at me.
“Ayato, please get me back on the roof.” I pleaded him. He made some duck lips , making his lips look bigger, and shook his head. He got his head closer to me and narrowed his eyes playfully.
“If you’ll kiss me,” He whispered and I widened my eyes, my heart starting to beat more rapidly and my brain to not think straight.
I shook my head. “I can’t… No- Ayato! Please!”
He made a move forward , making me panic. “Okay! Okay! I’ll kiss you!”
In a swift move , he got me on the roof again. I put my hand over my heart and tried to calm myself down.
,”C’mon,” I snapped my eyes at Ayato. I furrowed my eyebrows, confused.
“What?”
“Give me the kiss,” He requested and for a moment there was silence. I began to laugh nervously, straightening up.
“Umm… about that… uhh, I c-can’t,” I began to stutter. Damn it!
“Why?” He tilted his head and crossed his arms over his chest, his muscles moving under his shirt. I began to play with the ends of my shirt.
“Because that would be my first kiss,” I said quietly. There, I said it.
“Mhm…” I heard Ayato say and I looked at him in the eyes. Damn , those eyes. “I understand. But I’ll get that kiss sooner or later.” He pointed out. He began to walk away but I felt bad for some reason.
“Wait!” I shouted after him. He turned around and he widened his eyes , because we were too close. I stood on my tiptoes and kissed his cheek. My heart was beating like crazy but I didn’t care. I retracted and smiled shyly at him. “I promised you.”
I raised my head to look at him when I didn’t hear him. My breath hitched. He was smiling a little and good God, that was something very beautiful. I wonder how a full, happy smile would look on him.
He nodded and left without a word, touching his cheek. I smiled and looked at the sky. As I remembered something, my smile faded
I can’t like him. He’s a player.
