CRAIG’S P. O. V.
I don’t really know what to do with myself. I have hope that my son will pull through, but at the same time I would be devastated if he didn’t. I just got my son back. I don’t think I could really handle losing him again. And this time it would be permanent.
I pull into the compound and look around. The pack is doing a good job of guarding. I see plenty of wolves around that are making sure that the compound is secure. I head inside and greet the head of security.
“Hello, Frank. How’s it going here?”
“Interrogation has started. What we are finding most is that the Rogue leader held someone captive and forced them to fight. It didn’t matter who it was but there were some that just fought because they wanted to. Those will be imprisoned. The others we will need to investigate further.”
“Alright, is there anything you need from me at the moment?”
“Not that I can think of. How is Alpha Victor?” Frank shows concern.
“He is doing well, the doctor thinks he will pull through.”
“Thank the goddess, the pack would be devastated to lose him.”
“So would a good deal other people. Victor is a well loved wolf.”
“You should be proud to call him son.”
“More than you will ever know.”
Frank pauses for a moment then says. “Well, Alpha we have things under control here if you want to head back to the hospital and check on your son. We will let you know if there is any progress.”
“I’ll call or link in a bit to see if there is anything you need. Make sure all of the prisoners are fed properly, we are not barbarians. Also check and see why these people were rogues to begin with. If it was something minor and they were coerced into fighting for the lead rogue then we will give them an option to join the pack, but not before we use the truth potion on them first. I want to make sure they are not lying.”
“I am not sure we have enough truth potion.”
“What do you mean? There can’t be that many innocent wolves that were rogues.”
“Apparently what I could gather many were taken. There were also quite a few from Benson’s pack, so they left to look for a better pack. They didn’t think that any other pack would take them.”
“Fucking Benson, we should have killed him a long time ago. He is the main reason why the rogue was able to get away with so much shit for so long. If he wasn’t already dead, I would kill him.”
“Yeah he really fucked us all. I will see what I can do about the truth potion.”
“Hold off on the ones that are from Benson’s, I will check with Hugo and check their story. If they left the pack willingly we will give them a chance. I won’t let Benson fuck these people over any longer.”
“As you wish Alpha.”
“How many times do I need to tell you Frank, don’t call me that any more. You are one of my oldest friends? Besides Victor is Alpha now. I got my daughter to call me Craig, why wont you?”
“Because I have known you as Alpha way too long to call you anything else. Maybe after I retire then we can talk about it. I plan on retiring at the end of the year. I talked to your boy about it already. He said he was on the lookout for another to take my place. I am not sure if he found someone already.”
“Honestly, who could replace you?”
“Hopefully someone. I would hate to work here till I die. I want to have a life before I am dead. You got to retire. Why can’t I?”
“I had a great replacement. I think he is doing better than me. If for some reason he isn’t able to find someone, check with Olivia, she is good at her job. I am sure she will find someone adequate. She is a good wolf. I am glad I saw that before it was too late.”
“Yeah, I’m not sure how much longer your boy would have lived without her.”
“You knew too?”
“Of course, I used to see them together. I thought they were mates at first, but then that other girl.”
“Don’t remind me that was a nightmare and a half.”
“I am glad in the end they found each other. I swear the goddess made them for one another.”
“I just don’t understand their situation. I know the goddess had to have their reason, but pairing three male wolves to one she wolf is just crazy.”
“Sometimes the goddess makes things a little crazy so that we appreciate it when it is good. She wants to make sure that we know what we have in life and cherish it. She makes things right in the end. You will see, she will fix it.”
“I wish I had your confidence.”
“I bet you twenty bucks that she will fix it within the next month. She will make it all make sense.”
“You’re on.” I shake his hand. We both let out a hearty laugh, it felt good. I actually felt like things were going to end up alright.
