BENJAMIN’S P. O. V.
After we delivered Victor to the hospital to be operated on, I decided to head back to the clearing to check on Olivia. As I suspected she hadn’t left that spot. I had managed to scrape together some shorts at the hospital so at least I wasn’t naked now. In the dead of night I could still see her. She was huddled in the spot where Victor had laid. Alpha Craig hasn’t left her; he is just a little further off giving her some space. She still hasn’t shifted back. I came and sat next to her. I started sliding my hand along her back.
“I know you love him. We got him there in time I’m sure. I know you are upset but it would be best if you shifted back. That way you can be at the hospital with him. He is going to want to see your face as soon as he wakes up. Peter and I want to see your face too. You were amazing, you know. You managed to take down the lead Rogue without even getting a scratch. You did so great. Please Olivia change back and talk to me.”
She let out a large sigh. I thought she was getting lost further. But she stood and changed. Alpha Craig came over, pulling his shirt off and handing it to her. “Here honey, put this on. We can go to the hospital and then I will bring you some pants.”
She slips on his shirt. I tried not to look, I really did. I failed, but then reminded myself that this was not the time. Tears were streaming down her face. I put my arm around her. “He’s going to be fine. You know how stubborn he is. He wouldn’t die without seeing his pup first.”
“I don’t even know if we have a pup or not.”
“Oh, come on. You know that cocky asshole got you pregnant. How else would he be able to rub it in our faces?”
She chuckles a little bit. “Yeah, he does love to gloat. I really don’t want something to happen to him. I can’t lose him Benjamin, I just can’t.”
I pull her closer, “I know Babe, I know.”
We sit there for a moment and then Alpha Craig comes over. “How about we get to the hospital and see what we can find out huh? We won’t be able to find out anything from here.”
I didn’t mention that I could just link Peter and find out the same information. I know that she needs to get out of these woods. There are still a few dead rogues laying around, including the lead rogue. She needs to be somewhere else, if she stays here she is going to lose all hope.
The walk to the hospital is a long one. None of us brought a car out here. I was too in a hurry to check on her when I came back that I ran in my fur. I carried the shorts in my mouth in order to change back when I got here.
Alpha Craig is on Olivia’s other side. I am a little disturbed that he is still hanging around her. He isn’t one of her mates, why is he here? As if sensing my question, he stares ahead and states, “Victor told me to watch out for you. I will do everything in my power to make sure that you are safe. Now I want you to make sure you are doing your best too. I know he asked you not to get lost. He wanted you to stay strong and get through this no matter what. Even if he didn’t make it. I know my son Olivia, he is still breathing, he will come back to you. Even if he has to fight the Devil himself he will come back to you.”
Olivia tries to give him a small smile. “I know Victor is a stubborn ass who will do whatever it takes to get through. I am just worried that this time it might be too much.”
He looks thoughtful for a moment. “You know when I told Victor that he wasn’t allowed to hang out with you anymore, he actually punched me. I remember thinking how much you must have put him under your spell. I didn’t realize how much he loved you. After that day he barely acknowledged that I existed. When he did acknowledge me it was only to tell me how much I ruined his life. I didn’t think I would ever get my son back.”
She just listens to him talk. I know she was pissed at this guy but at some point over the last two days he has wormed his way into her heart.
“You know he still loved you right?”
“I know but he loved you more.” He laughed. “I thought that after he found his mate that things would change. Boy was I wrong. This girl was a power hungry bitch. She tried to kill me, you know that?” Olivia nodded. “Yeah, that just made Victor more mad at me. He knew if you were his mate that that would have never happened. He was right. I know you wouldn’t have tried to kill me. I had to put his mate to death. Not a happy day, but it almost seemed to make Victor gloat. He almost had this aura around him that screamed, you should have just let me have Olivia. When the rumors started about you I thought he would forget about you. But it made him even more obsessed with you. He would attack anyone who said anything about you. I knew that if something didn’t change soon that you would be lost to him forever, and he would be lost to me forever.”
He was quiet for a moment. “I just got my son back. I am not ready to lose him. When you ran out there to attack that rogue, I thought I was going to lose you and then my son. He would die without you. I am starting to think that you are willing to do the same for him. I am here to tell you that you need to think about everyone around you before you give up. If I lose my son, I don’t want to lose my daughter too. Please hang in there. I need you. Even if you somehow think that your other mates can live without you, you can’t give up on me. Please Olivia, stay strong. Fulfill Victor’s last wish and stay strong.”
“I will try.” That was all that she said then it became quiet again. I couldn’t really tell what Olivia was thinking.
Then I got a link from Peter, “How far away are you?”
“We are about two blocks away.”
“Good, the doctor want’s Olivia here. He stopped the bleeding but he wants Olivia here to help with the healing. He is getting blood, but he is going to need the mate bond to pull through.”
“Alright I will hurry. We will be there.” I turn to Olivia. “Hey, babe, we need to pick up the pace. Victor needs you right now. The doctor got the bleeding to stop but he needs you to pull through. Can you do that? Can you pull Victor back?”
I could see the strength returning to her. “Let’s go.” We started running the remaining two blocks. Peter met us at the door.
“Come on Babe, the doctor is waiting for you.” Peter takes her hand and pulls her from my arm. He drags her down the hall towards the ICU part of the hospital.
I turn to Alpha Craig. “So, maybe you should get those pants for her.”
“I don’t think I have anything else to do at the moment. It would help me to stay busy. I will be back soon. I am also going to check on the prisoners brought back to the compound. I suggest that you and Peter do the same soon.”
“I agree we need to see if there is going to be another attack or if we are able to stand down. Plus we need to check on the she-wolves that were brought back.”
“Agreed I will return shortly. I pray that Victor wakes soon.”
“Me too.”
“Really?”
“He has become a friend.”
“I just figured with the whole mate thing…”
“I know but it doesn’t feel like that. I feel as if it would be a bad thing if we lost him. I know I get jealous when he is around, but I don’t want him gone. I can’t really explain it myself. I feel like it would be bad to lose him.”
“Good to know you are on our side.” He cups my shoulder. “I will be back soon.”
I watch him leave and turn to find Peter approaching. “We still have a bit of a wait before he wakes up. But the doctor says that there is a ninety-five percent chance that he will wake up now. With Olivia here, he feels that there is almost no way that he won’t pull through. I think we should check on things.”
“I told Alpha Craig that I would stay here until he came back. He is checking on the rogues brought back to his pack. Also getting Olivia some pants.”
“Yeah she may need those. I will head over to the college and check on the she-wolves first. From what I understand quite a few of them were rogues. Some were even taken from packs further away. I need to see what is going on there.”
“I will catch up with you when Alpha Craig comes back.”
“Alright, catch you later.”
