Then his phone rang. “Adir, what did you guys find?”
“Alpha, we found the females. They have them in this underground bunker. It was kind of tricky to find them and they tried to mask their scents. The rogues are playing tricky. We managed to track down the area that they are using as a base. It looks like they have over four hundred in their numbers. We haven’t been able to pin down their leader though.”
“That is going to be the key to this war. We have to take out their leader and then the rogues will fall apart; they won’t function well without this leader. Rogues in general don’t like leaders. I am surprised that they are following this person. What can we do to get the females back?”
“They have guards around the clock. I am not even sure how many wolves they have down under. I would say that we are going to need a team of at least thirty wolves to break in and pull them out. A diversion will need to be set to keep the other wolves from the base from responding.”
“Adir, what do you see as the chances of making this happen?”
“I would say it is about a eighty percent chance of success. Depending on the diversion.”
“Alright I have one in mind. Bring back the trackers and we will plan out the rescue battle. I want to minimize the lives lost.”
“Yes, Alpha, we will return by dusk.”
“See you then.” Victor hangs up the phone. “What do you think babe?”
“I think we need to get those females back. The diversion can be something as simple as a talk. Call the rogues out and demand that they meet with you in talks to get the females back. Then send in the troops while the others are at the meeting spot. This will get the minimum amount of wolves in danger. Plus the rogues wont find out until later that the females are gone. Since they aren’t a pack they don’t have the mind link. They would have to talk by phone or in person.”
“Smart. That could work. As long as their base is far enough away from the underground bunker. We need to talk to the trackers when they return to the locations of everything. We will map it out and then find a location that is far enough away from either place to let them think that we still have no idea of what they are doing.”
“Make sure that you stipulate that you want to speak to the leader so that he or she wont come without the rest. They are going to want the most protection. Plus the rogues know that they won’t win anything without this leader. They will pull all of their guards to the meeting. They might leave a few behind, but hopefully not enough to do any real damage. Plus use the cover of night. That way the wolves will be able to enter unseen if possible. We don’t know how many guards they have in the bunker and we would hate to be out manned because we were unable to send enough down. If they are able to take out the outer guards then they will only need to leave one or two wolves outside to look out and the rest can go in and release the females.”
“Good idea. I will get together with Peter and Shawn on what wolves we should send.”
“Alpha, if you don’t mind I would like to lead the rescue mission.” Aaron requested Victor. “I really want to feel like I am doing something here. You know that I am best at night time tactics. I can lead this no problem.”
“My problem would be losing my Beta. I don’t want to lose my best friend.”
“Victor, we all have to make sacrifices. You know as well as I do that with me leading we will all come back alive. Would you rather send someone that you don’t know? They could fuck it up. We need those females back. Even if it is just to boost morale.”
“I know that Aaron can do it. Victor, trust him.” I look at him and try to give my best puppy dog eyes hoping that this will convince Victor. I know Aaron can handle this. If anyone can, it is him. He really is the best at night time tactics.
“If you don’t come back alive, I am going to kill you.” Victor smirks at him. “Do you have any wolves that you want to go with you?”
“A few, but Shawn and Peter can contribute some too. We want this to be an effort from all the packs. That way it shows unity in making the rogues back down.”
“With their numbers being at least four hundred we are going to have our work cut out for us. I mean we have more numbers but if we don’t learn how to work together then we are going to struggle.” I look to Victor to see his input.
“True. That is really why we need to make sure that the wolves are as mixed as possible in these training groups. We want them to work together as a team. I can see that we are going to need as many wolves as possible at the meet too. That way in case things break off we have enough of a force to shut them down.”
“Take a squadron from all of the packs and all of you Alphas should be there.” I look away from Victor. I don’t want him to think that I want to get rid of him.
“I would have to have Benjamin watch you. You will be at the college with the others that still will need protection. My father will be there too.”
“I think if your father is with me you should have Benjamin with you guys. You need to show a strong force. Plus find someone to stand in as Aaron so that way the rogues don’t think that there is anything funny going on. If they think all the strong wolves are there at the meet they won’t think about others going to the bunker to rescue the females.”
“Maybe we should have someone stand in for Benson that way it looks like we are the same as usual. We don’t need them thinking that there is a chance we are getting ourselves ready to fight back. We don’t need them to jump the gun before we are trained enough.” Victor contemplates this. “We really aren’t ready for the war to start now. We need some time. We just need to get the females back.”
“I agree things are not going to work out unless we get them back, they mean so much to all of the packs. We will probably need to set up some sort of infirmary for the she-wolves, I doubt the wolves are taking very good care of them if they left them underground.” I start to make a list of the things that we will need to make that happen.
“That’s why you are my Luna. You think about what is best for everyone. I love that about you.” He leans in and kisses my neck. “I will need to get up though Darlin’, I have to stretch these legs.”
I grin at him. “You are the one who put me on your lap. I didn’t do it.” I wiggle my ass a little to play with him.
“Don’t do that. You don’t know the consequences of such actions.” He is growling into my neck.
I stand up then lean over to him and whisper in his ear. “Or maybe I do.”
He lets out a deep guttural growl. “Alright vixen. I am going to go get us some snacks. Stay here with Aaron. Don’t go walking without me, alright?”
“Aye, aye, Sir.” I give him a little salute.
“Funny. Just don’t over do it. I need you tomorrow. We start training.” He winks at me as if to imply the other things that he needs me for.
I roll my eyes at him. “I won’t over do it.”
He kisses my cheek and then heads out, then he pokes his head back in. “Aaron, make sure she takes it easy. She never listens.”
“Yeah, right, since when has Olivia ever listened to me. I’ll just tell you if she misbehaves. You can deal with her.” Aaron tries to sound grumpy but I can tell that he is just playing.
“Don’t worry Aaron, I will just sit here and tell you all my juicy secrets that I never tell Victor.”
“I know you are joking.” Victor says as he leaves the doorway.
“You two have always been so good together. I feel like it’s old times.” Aaron starts picking up the training lists. “I really hope it doesn’t end. I missed this.”
“I did too. We had fun. If I have any say about it, I won’t be going anywhere. The ball is in Victor’s court now.”
“Then we are safe. You don’t know how torn up he was about having to push you away. He cursed his father all the time. He would tell me how he missed you. I was beginning to be sick of hearing him talk about you. I think even at one point I told him never to bring you up again. I knew it was painful for him, but I was left behind too.” Aaron looked sad for the friendship that was sacrificed for no good reason.
“How about this? If Victor and I for some reason break up. I will still be your friend. I won’t leave you behind again.” I put my hand on his shoulder to reassure him of what I was saying.
“I don’t know, Victor might kill me then. I don’t think he would want me anywhere near you if he couldn’t have you.”
“Well, if that’s the case I will protect you.” We laugh like it is old times. “Hey, remember that time we ditched the pack picnic and hid in the woods in our fur for hours playing. My parents were going to kill me for disobeying the pack.”
“Yeah, my dad and Alpha Craig just about skinned us alive. I think that actually might have been when Alpha Craig started calling you a troublemaker.”
“Me, Never.” I put a hand on my heart like I was offended. Then we both start cracking up.
Victor comes back to see us laughing our asses off. He looks confused for a moment and then he relaxes seeing that we are just being friendly. “What was so funny?”
“We were remembering the time when we hid out in the woods from the pack picnic. I guess that is when your father started to hate me.”
“I am glad that he is beyond that now and sees at least some of what I see.”
“What do you mean by what you see?”
“There is no way that he sees as much as I do, or he would want to mate you.” Victor starts laughing. I’m not really sure what is so funny. I guess he can tell by my puzzled look. “Sorry I was just picturing my dad trying to hit on you. I would say I don’t think that is going to happen.”
Aaron busted up laughing now. I still don’t really see what’s funny. I brush it off though. I’m not saying that I like older men, but Alpha Craig is not without his charming looks. I mean where did Victor think he got them? I don’t really want Victor to know that I think his father is attractive though. Not that I would ever go there though.
Victor turns to Aaron. “Hey, can you leave us alone for a moment?”
Aaron wasted no time. He shot me a quick “goodbye” and then was gone.
I look at Victor puzzled. “What’s up?”
He sets the snacks on the table for me. Then he pulls me to him. “Peter is on his way. He just called, complaining that he hasn’t been able to spend any time with you because he has been so busy. So he made me agree that I would give you guys some private time. I don’t want to leave you, but it is probably best if I get my troops ready for tomorrow. I will be here tomorrow morning to take you home with me.” He doesn’t even wait for my answer, before he slams his lips into mine.
We are instantly tangled in each other. Arms all around each other. Lips locked. Moans escape us both. I feel my legs being pulled up around his waist. I don’t mind. Then he pushes my back against a wall. I can feel him getting hard. I want more, but go figure just then there is a knock on the door and Peter pokes his head in.
