VICTOR’S P. O. V.
I head into the hospital with a little skip in my step. I really haven’t had time to spend with Olivia in a while. Last night when I was here she slept most of the time. I am ready to see her smiling face. I am ready to have her tell me anything and everything that is going on with her. I know it won’t be much since she is confined to a bed, but I don’t care. I just want to hear her voice.
However, when I walk to her room I am greeted by a strange sight. Benjamin is there arguing with my father.
“I am under orders that no one is allowed to be with her alone, unless it is me, Peter or Victor. I am not leaving the room.” Benjamin is pissed. After all, the last thing that he heard was that my father hated Olivia.
“I am not going to hurt her. I simply want to have a word with her.” My father seems exasperated, how long has he been here.
“What is going on here?” I step between the two to try to defuse the situation.
“Your father is demanding a private conversation with Olivia.” Benjamin was seething. “I told him that it isn’t possible.”
“I merely want to have a word with the girl. You told me last night that she was here and I thought it would be nice to have a talk with her. I think the bloodhound here is under the impression that I don’t like her.” He cocked his eyebrow at Benjamin, I can tell he is assessing him.
“Father, you can’t just show up here like this. I could have made arrangements.” I start rubbing my temples trying to figure out what the hell my father was up to.
“I am retired. I didn’t think it would be this big of a deal. You were busy so I stopped in, not as big a deal as everyone is making it.” He started to growl.
“OK, Benjamin, rather than us sitting around deciding what is best for Olivia. I know that she would much rather make the decision for herself.” We all turn to look at her. She gives me a wink.
“Yes, I would like to make my own decisions. Regardless of the fact that Alpha Craig scares me I know that he has no intention of hurting me.”
“There you go, now can I talk to the girl.” I pointed his hand at Olivia as if to make his point.
I nod to Benjamin to let my father be alone with her. Grudgingly he leaves me with my father and Olivia. “Sorry father, but she was just attacked and her safety is of the utmost importance. She is his mate too.”
“I understand. Can I have a word with her now? I give you my word that she is not in any danger with me.”
“What do you need from her father?”
“A word.”
I rolled my eyes at him, in no way possible did he answer my question. “Alright. I will leave you to it.”
OLIVIA’S P. O. V.
Victor stepped out of the room, leaving me alone with the imposing figure of his father. I wasn’t lying when I said I was scared of him, and I know that no matter how scary he is, he isn’t going to hurt me. Reluctantly, I looked at him with a quizzical look.
“What can I do for you, Alpha Craig?”
“First off, I don’t want you to be scared. I know I was a jerk about you before. I really didn’t take the chance to get to know you. I should have. I have been corrected for the errors in my ways. I have talked to some of the wolves around the pack and have seen your progress through the years. I am proud to call you a wolf of the Blue River Pack. I also would be proud if I could call you Luna of Blue River Pack. I know Victor said that things are kind of up in the air about that right now. I just want you to know where my vote lies. I would hate for you to think that I still resent you.”
“I appreciate the nice words. I am not sure that I will be taking the job as Luna. I know it is more than that. I just can’t be all that they want me to be. I can’t just choose one either, it doesn’t feel right.”
“Who do you love more? Mate bond aside.” He seemed easier to talk to all of the sudden. I am not sure where this is coming from but I like it. It’s like I have my dad back, almost.
“I guess who I feel the most for is Victor, but that is only because I have been in love with him my whole life. Even when he pushed me away I still wished something would bring us together again. I am glad that we can at least be friends again.” I am a little embarrassed to be telling Alpha Craig this.
“You know that will never be enough right. I know that you love my son. I saw it all those years ago. That was the very reason that I was pushing him to push you away. I saw the way that he looked at you. I was scared that you were not strong enough to take over as Luna. I was wrong. Don’t continue to make the same mistake I did.”
“But I can’t be everything that they want me to be.” I throw my hands up as is to illustrate how frustrated I am.
“Then don’t, just be what you can. I know you are a strong wolf. I am sorry I didn’t see it before. Even if you don’t like it. You are now considered my daughter. I don’t want to hear you call me Alpha Craig anymore. It is either Craig, or dad to you.”
“That seems a little bit much.” I look at him sideways trying to figure out if he has lost his mind or if he is being serious.
“Olivia.” There was warning in his voice but also a bit of humor as if he was holding back a laugh.
“Alright, Craig.”
“Not the one I was hoping for, but I will take it. Please be good to my son. I know that he loves you. Any one would be crazy not to. But I know that he loves you the most.”
“Thank you Craig. I will take your words to heart.” I show him that I am sincere by looking him in the eyes.
“Now that that is out of the way, when are you getting out of this room so I can take you out to lunch?” He claps his hands together and rubs them, like he has plans.
“Oh, not soon enough in my opinion. I miss walking around. They said that maybe this afternoon they will let me walk around. I can’t wait. I mean it hurts a little but I think they are making a bigger deal out of it than it really is.”
“That’s because you’re strong and don’t feel the pain. Let them eat their words, let’s get you out of that bed. I will tell them you are getting up. If you feel well enough I don’t see why not.” He turns to the door only to stop when he hears my words.
“You would do that for me?”
“Anything for my daughter.” I couldn’t help but laugh. At that Victor poked his head in the room.
“Is everything ok in here?” Concern was etched on his face.
“Of course it is. I am just going to go talk to these nurses about getting my daughter out of her bed.” The look of shock on his face was priceless. I had to laugh even harder.
“Your Daughter. Did I miss something?”
“Nothing detrimental. Go about your business.” His father waved him off and then turned back to me. “Olivia I will be back shortly when I deal with these fools. Then this afternoon I will bring you in some ice cream. What flavor would you like?”
“Chocolate all the way.” What woman doesn’t.
“You got it girl. I’ll be right back.” With that he was gone, leaving Victor with the most shocked look I had ever seen him wear.
“I feel like I just walked into another dimension. Did he just call you his daughter?”
I smiled at him. “I think he really wants me to be Luna.”
“Well, I would love to see that too. But isn’t he jumping the gun a little?”
“I think he felt bad about before. He knew we loved each other and he pushed us apart.”
“You said loved, as is past tense.” A little bit of panic has entered his voice.
“You know what I mean. I mean I have always loved you and still do, even when it was a struggle.” He sighs like I should have known this already.
Within seconds he was beside me with his lips on mine. I swear I have never seen him move that fast. It was passion and purpose. When he broke to give us air, he looked deep in my eyes. “Say it again.”
“Say what?”
“That you love me.”
“I love you Victor.” I smile at him.
Then his lips crashed into mine again. This is what I have wanted my whole life. To have this man on my lips. I felt guilty but I also felt the passion that we have been denying for years. I pulled him closer. At this point he was practically on the bed with me. Not as close as Peter was earlier but close. I still felt the need to pull him closer. His arms had snaked around my back and he was pulling me to him. I felt no pain, I only felt the need on our lips. The need for more.
Then the door cracked open, a voice cleared. “I think it may be a bit too public for that yet, son.”
We broke apart. Victor turned to his dad with a huge smile on his face. “I couldn’t help it. She said she loves me.”
“Well, I could have told you that son.” This time Alpha Craig rolls his eyes at Victor.
“It is not the same as hearing it from her mouth.” Victor looked sheepish.
“Alright well, I convinced these ass-wipes to let her try to get out of bed. They will be in here shortly.”
“Thank God.” I started doing a little happy dance in the bed. I can’t believe I get to get out of this bed. I haven’t been here as long as some other people but I have been here too long for me. I need to be able to run. I have felt trapped. Feeling trapped is not something I am comfortable with. Especially after I was attacked while strapped to a bed. I can’t wait to get out of here.
