Amelia’s POV

I placed a plate before Sebastian and Xavier before grabbing my own, moving to sit beside Xavier. We had just returned from the store 30 minutes ago, which was really crowded but Sebastian knew someone there so it was a quick trip.

Sebastian had also mentioned that they were going through a rough couple of months since Brent lost his job and they’ve been struggling financially. Xavier almost bought the entire store, even though he barely knew the woman it was clear that after everything he couldn’t help but care.
“What are you thinking about?” He asked me softly breaking my thoughts.

“Nothing.” I mumbled glancing over to him for a split second. He chuckled beside me clearly not believing me but didn’t question it further.

“Good morning.” Samantha said walking in, we all greeted her as she moved into the kitchen.

“We went grocery shopping.” Sebastian announced pointing to the counter full of cereal.

“How much do I owe you?” She asked Xavier and I, sadness hiding in the debts of her eyes.

“It’s fine, take it as a thank you for letting us stay here.” I said sending her a knowing look and she sent me a grateful smile.

“Thank you both.”

“Where exactly was Brent employed?” Xavier asked sipping his orange juice.

“Whitney’s Hospital.” She replied frowning, the name sounding familiar.

“Whitney’s.” Xavier mumbled biting the inside of his cheek.

“I’m the reason he got fired, I bought Whitney’s, we had to fire a couple people off the staff while renovations were made, but I will have him re-employed by next month.” Xavier said casually, kissing my forehead as he took mine and his empty plate to the sink. She looked at him confused probably by his emotionless approach to the situation.
“He is like that.” I mumbled and she turned to face me.

“But until then if you need anything you can call me.” I added.

“Thank you.” She whispered and I sent her a smile.

“I made you a plate it’s in the microwave.” I replied and she smiled going for it.

We were now back home due to the problems at the restaurant. The company was getting a lot of backlash so we decided to leave early. After seven hours around my desk I was finally in bed, we had managed to calm down the media after two press conference and many other methods of damage control. I had to be up in the next four hours and my body wasn’t prepared.

I heard a knock on the door, I groaned getting up knowing it was probably Lesley. I walked towards the entrance pulling the door open surprised to see Xavier standing there.

“Hey.” He greeted flashing me a tired smile, I stepped aside allowing him to come in, his hair was messy and he was still in his suit.

“Aren’t you suppose to be in bed, Xavier?” I asked amused knowing he went home after dropping me off, I closed the door turning to him.

“I couldn’t sleep.” He said looking tired as he pulled of his jacket, I sighed moving over to him.

“Go take a shower.” I told him knowing by his attire he didn’t spend much time at his house since it was the same suit he wore during the seven hours we spent at the office. He kissed my forehead walking off as I moved into the kitchen, pouring a glass of water before making my way to the room.

I could still hear the shower running so I knew Xavier was still taking his shower. I placed the juice on the nightstand before going for Xavier’s jacket knowing his phone was most likely in the pocket.

I moved back into the room placing his jacket in the chair where the rest of his clothes were. I walked over to my closet getting a pair of shorts that I took from his suitcase on the journey back home.
I opened the door with a towel in my hand, I heard the water stop and soon the the glass door was being slid to the side, revealing Xavier. His hair was matted to his face as water ran down his body, he leaned forward grabbing the towel from me, sending me a cocky smile as he pushed back his hair. My eyes roamed over him shameless, taking in every inch of his perfectly sculpted body.

“Where did you get those?” He asked raising an wet eyebrow looking at the shorts in my hands.

“I took them.” I replied watching as he dried off.

“When?” He asked amused taking them for my hands as he kissed my forehead.
“When you fell asleep, you left your bag open and I liked them so I took them. I told him truthfully remembering the scene. He chuckled pulling up the shorts to cover his naked body.

“Are these the only ones?”

“No.” I scoffed walking out he chuckled following me. I felt hands around my waist and soon my back was pressed against his chest. He kissed my cheek softly, his wet hair touching my skin.

“I need to get my number changed.” He mumbled behind me as I leaned into him enjoying his warmth.

“Why?”

“My number got leaked during this mess.” He replied and I pulled away hesitantly, knowing I should probably get in bed before it got any later.

“Drink that.” I told him motioning to the glass on the nightstand, he chuckled moving over to it as I got in bed.

“You love ordering me around don’t you?” He asked amused.

“Don’t you?”

“Questions can’t answer questions Amelia.” He replied drinking as I smiled going under the covers.

“Did I wake you?” He asked frowning.

“No.” I replied smiling and he returned his gaze to the nightstand placing the glass on it before crawling in beside me.

“Do you want to talk about it?” I asked moving to lay my head on his chest he sighed as his hand moved to my waist holding me against him.

“There is just a lot going on.” He answered softly kissing my forehead.

“You can’t control everything Xavier, everything happens for reason.” I told him softly my eyes closed.

“What did you want to become?” He asked randomly after a moment of silence.

“I wanted to become a model, I kno-”

“I could see that.”

“You’re only saying that because we’re together.” I replied sleepily.

“I’m not, I’ve actually gotten offers to have you in magazines.”
“Really?” I asked surprised, my eyes pulling open why would s

“Why do you sound so surprised the first time I saw you, I thought you modeled for the company.”

“The first time you saw me I was exhausted, nervous with my hair in a ponytail, I looked a mess.” I said rolling my eyes, before closing them once more.

“That isn’t the first time I saw you, my first time seeing you was at photos hoot, I was there observing still hesitant on whether or not to merge with Mr. Brown and you were both talking your hair was down your back. Imagine my surprise when he told me you were his assistant and not a model, you should take modeling serious.”
“I don’t know.” I mumbled and his eyes began searching mine as if trying to find answers.

“We can start with an interview and photo shoot for our own magazine.”

“Our?”

“Yeah you helped me get into publishing, so I believe you should have some ownership.”

“Xav-”

“Think of it as a gift.”

“A gift is a nice sweater.”

“Well you can use the money to buy a nice sweater.”

“That m-”

“I’m planning to place Susan incharge of everything.” He interrupted silently telling me it wasn’t up for debate.

“You irritate me.” I mumbled and he chuckled.

“So do you, you’re very stubborn Amelia.”

“That’s because you ask for too much Xavier.” I replied and he chuckled kissing my forehead.

“Maybe I do, but that’s because I see you, you’re capable of so much more.” He mumbled making my heart melt.
