I run into my uncles living room jumping in his arms for a hug, I was staying with him for 3 whole days while my parents go away for work. I was so excited, my uncle Ray always took me to fun places when I stayed with him. Today after tea he said he’s gonna take me to get ice cream, I could pick whatever toppings I wanted!
After the big hug I run over to where the dogs lived and start to pet them, my uncle speaks with my parents for a little while, until I hear my name being called.
“Alright munchkin, we’re gonna go now but we’ll see you in three days” my dad smiles walking over, I nod getting up giving him a big hug telling him I’d miss him.
My mum walks over picking me up in a tight squeeze, telling me she loved me before walking away, I turn watching them walk out the door sending me a final wave.
I think about that time often, if I knew that would be the last time I seen them, I would have held them even tighter. My uncle Ray did take me to get ice cream that day, but it was there he got the phone call telling him what happened to my parents. Anyway I guess you guys wanna see what Blake’s up to right, enjoy.
Blake walks back into the waiting room after the little meeting he had with Jacob, they got a few leads from ink that they were following up on but nothing major. Blake sits down on the chair resting his head against the wall, a man sitting beside him is what causes him to look up. The guy wore a black leather jacket, with black jeans, but he looks rather familiar.
“Blake?” The guys asks, which makes Blake just look at the guy weirdly, he catches onto this and smiles “Ray, Freya’s uncle” he says, causing Blake’s eyes go wide, he knew, he knew his face from photos!
“Oh nice to meet you, Freya told me all about you” he smiles, sitting up straight to shake the guys hand, Rays smiles shaking his hand before sitting back in his seat, they don’t speak for a little while, Blake could just feel the awkwardness slowly making an appearance.
“Any news?” Ray asks, finally breaking the long silence, Blake just shakes his head looking down, he hated that whenever anyone asked him that it was always a no, he couldn’t wait for the day it would be yes “damn, this guy is so good, it sucks” Ray grumbles, this time putting his head on the wall.
“They’re trying, trust me I’ve been in loads of the meetings, it’s like these guys don’t sleep or actually go home” Blake explains, sticking up for the officers, but looks down “they wouldn’t have to if it wasn’t for me” he mumbles under his breath, which Ray catches into and questions him.
“It’s my fault, I should have been the one to go to the shop that night or even have gone with her, but no I just wanted to stay at home wasting my life on some game” he finally lets out what he’s feeling, looking up at the ceiling.
“Did you hold a gun to Freya’s head in that shop? Did you tell the guys to kidnap her and that baby?” Ray turns asking him, Blake shakes his head looking down “then how is any of this your fault? Yeah you could have gone with her but where would that have got you? I mean it’s all over the news that this dude killed his wife and child that looks identical to Freya, he would have took her if you were there or not” Ray explains, but Blake still didn’t see it that way.
“I could have stopped him” he says, holding back the tears that wanted to fall, he’s kept all these feelings in the whole time not wanting people to make it about him.
“Yeah you could have tried, but that would have probably killed you, how could that help Freya in anyway, right now she knows you’re here helping the police find her, if you were gone who would have done that?” He asks, which causes Blake to shrug his shoulders “no one, I know what you’re going through and trust me blaming yourself into gonna help” he explains, Blake turns to look at him as he spoke again.
“Back when Freya’s parents died, all I did was blame myself, even through I knew I had nothing to do with the crash, I couldn’t help myself. I was meant to go with them on that trip but I didn’t, I chose my own personal feelings over theirs” he goes onto explain, tears building up in his eyes “I kept telling myself that I was a way better driver, I had driven through worse snows storms like that and made it home, I could have gone with them and they’d still be alive now and Freya would be happy with her parents” he sighs, looking down at his feet before continuing.
“Than I looked to see how bad the storms really were, no one could have drove through there without crashing, not even the most experienced of drivers. If I did go I would have ended up dead too, than who would have looked after Freya? Without me she would have had no one else, so I told myself, I was meant to stay home and how they weren’t mad and me for not going, they were happy I stayed and was now raising their daughter because they couldn’t. And you know what I put my heart and soul into raising that beautiful girl, even when it was hard I’d put a smile on my face for her” he exclaims, pointing at himself, Blake smiles as he pats Blake’s back “you can’t blame yourself for this, Freya knows it isn’t your fault and knows that you’re doing everything in your power to get her back. When you do rescue her she’s gonna be so thankful for everything you did do, so I don’t wanna hear you blame yourself again, cause son everything happens for a reason” he finishes his speech, patting Blake who wipes the tears from his eyes thanking Ray.
“Don’t worry about it, now what kind of drinks they got here, it looks like we’re gonna be here a while” Ray smiles, getting out his seat walking over to the vending machine, not knowing how much that actually helped Blake.
You guys just met my uncle Ray, amazing guy isn’t he? He really did help Blake that day and pushed him not to give up, he was also right, I didn’t and don’t blame Blake for what happened at all. I was just so happy when I got to hug Blake and thank him over and over again, I actually thank him daily, even now.
Let’s carry on with the story shall we.
