Chapter 161

Book:Billionaire's Exclusive Wife Published:2024-5-1

Aurora’s POV
Flora is very persistent. She was dragged away from the door of the Plum Court countless times, but she always ran back by herself, just kneeling.
The old man sat on the sofa in the living room and told me urgently, “Old woman, you should go out and have a look.”
I snorted, “Why don’t you go?”
“I won’t…” he snorted. “Don’t you know why I’m not going?”
I waved my hand. “Why?”
“Jacob was the one who made a mistake. We can’t let innocent children bear the responsibility of their parents. She is in poor health. If something happens inside the Fischer’s mansion, we will regret it.”
I gave him a white look. “Okay, okay. I’ll go.”
I got up and went out with some worries.
Flora, who has been kneeling for most of the day and looks pale, has a harmless smile on her face. “Grandma.”
I stepped forward, “Flora, get up.”
She didn’t move and she just gave me a look. “Grandma, I am kneeling here not to give you embarrassment, I am just trying to get a peace of mind, I want to see you, I want to beg you, can I take the responsibility instead of my father?”
I frowned. “Flora, why do you think that way?”
“I know that’s not a good thing, but I have to bear this responsibility. Grandma, let me be honest. Since I was left by Cheney, I have always felt that living my life is meaningless. My father became like this because he was restless to see how I live my life. He is distressed because of me.”
I nodded, “I know, you are a filial good girl.”
“If you really know, please have pity on my filial piety. I can’t watch my dad go to jail.”
I shook my head. “One yard is one yard. Even if I promise, your father will not.”
“Grandma,” she stepped forward and held my leg tightly.
I crouched down and looked at her. “Flora, people have their own hurdles. Your father failed to control his demons and did something wrong. How can he not pay the price?”
“Without me, my father’s demons would not exist. You know how loyal he is to the Fischer family, grandma.”
“I am not a confused person. I have seen all the things Jacob did in my life, but what he did in the end was to harm or even kill people… The victim is Cheney’s son. What can I do? My position with Cheney is very difficult now, and it is Jacob that caused all this.”
Flora broke down and burst into tears.
At this time, a surprised voice came not far away. “Grandma, what are you… talking about?”
I looked at Rashad coming not far away with a shocked face.
At this time, what is this boy doing here?
I said calmly, “What are you doing here?”
“I heard that something was happening at home, so I came back to see. Grandma, what do you mean by what you just said?”
“Since you have already heard about it, why do you ask again?” I said coldly, “But you came just in time. Flora has been kneeling here for almost a day. You can send her home.”
With that, I turned to go back to the Plum Court.
Flora climbed up to me on her knees and cried, “Grandma, don’t go, please listen to me for a few more words.”
I nodded. “Okay, Flora, say what you want. I will listen.”
“Grandma, since you really couldn’t forgive my father, it’s not too much for me to make a request for the Fischer family to pay back my father’s life-saving kindness to Cheney.”
“These are two different things.” I thought to myself, it was a good thing Cheney had told me to get a head start, otherwise, I really can’t answer her right now.
“How can these be two different things? If it weren’t for my father, Cheney would have died long ago. He wouldn’t have the chance to have a child with Krista. My dad saved his life, and he gave my dad a safe life for the rest of his life. What’s wrong? Grandma, Romeo is fine now, anyway. Give my Dad a break. I promise, I will go far away with my dad once you approve of it and will never go back to the Fischer’s mansion to give Cheney and Miss Krista peace, is that fine?”
I didn’t say anything.
She kowtowed desperately. “Grandma, please, please.”
On her forehead, after only a few knocks, she was stained with congestion.
I shook my head. “If you say so, Jacob saved Cheney as if he was repaying my old man for his kindness to your father. That incident cannot be enough reason for us to forgive Jacob. The victims are Krista and Romeo, and we are not qualified to forgive anyone aside from Cheney’s wife and son. Now, do you understand?” I looked back at Rashad. “Send Flora back.”
Rashad nodded.
Rashad’s POV
I stepped forward to help Flora get up.
But Flora grabbed my hand. “Rashad, help me.”
I squatted down and watched her. “Get up first then let me take you back, and you should tell me what happened when I was away for more than a month, so that I can help you find a way.”
Flora got up and limped away with my help.
At noon the next day, I went directly to the hospital to find Krista. My uncle ordered no one to enter the ward, so I had to talk to her.
She walked with me to the window at the end of the corridor.
I got straight to the point, “I heard about Uncle Jacob. What are you going to do with him?”
She said with a cold face, “It’s not my business what they are going to do with Uncle Jacob, it’s the judge’s.”
“After all, Uncle Jacob has served the Fischer family almost all his life, and he also saved my uncle, so you can’t…”
“I can’t,” she shook her head. “Rashad, it’s not your business.”
She said then gave me a cold look and stepped away.
I looked back at her, not reluctantly.
After all, it was her son who suffered.
