Chapter 135

Back at the Jade Court, Cheney and I were having dinner when I got a call from Flora. She wanted to see me.
After dinner, I got up and walked to Flora’s residence. When I passed the door, I just saw Jacob coming out of the house.
I came up and said, “Uncle Jacob, good evening.”
He gave me a look, nodded coldly, and then walked away from me.
I wonder, Jacob, what’s going on?
Seeing him out of the yard, I pushed the door and went in. Flora was the only one in the room.
She looked at me. “Miss Krista, I just heard my dad talk about you. You must be very sad because of me today.”
I sat down on the wooden stool beside the bed. “It’s nothing, and everyone doesn’t know, so they will misunderstand.”
“I just feel sorry in my heart. If I hadn’t fainted, I could help you clarify at that time. Where would you suffer so many grievances? I originally asked you, but the result made you suffer such criticism. It’s really… I’m so sorry.”
“Nothing, really nothing, don’t think too much, take good care of yourself.”
“Well… Miss Krista, tonight, I actually have something to ask you.”
I nodded, “What’s the matter? I still need to ask for the word? Go ahead.”
“Just now, several aunts in the back kitchen came to me together. They told me that you and Cheney caught the bag on the spot when they talked about you in the back kitchen. They also said that Cheney fired them.”
I frowned. “Well, they came to intercede with you?”
“It stands to reason that it is wrong for them to chew people’s tongues behind their backs. Moreover, the Fischer family does have such traditions and rules. Employees are not allowed to discuss the Fischer family in the garden, let alone gossip. They broke the rules of the Fischer’s mansion, and they should be fired, but, I know those aunts very well, and they have taken care of me all these years, and I really appreciate them. Most of these aunts’ children are still studying. Aunties are the source of income, which is really important. If they are fired, it will be difficult to find such a good job again. So, can you not fire them?”
I’m a little embarrassed. “Cheney gave the order to fire them, and it doesn’t count if I say it.”
“Well, can you help me? I think Cheney will listen to you.”
It’s even harder for me.
Cheney fired those people for my sake. I can’t let Cheney be a renegade.
I thought about it and said, “I’m afraid he won’t listen to me.”
“How? Or Miss Krista, are you angry with the aunts, too?”
“I am very angry. They just chat and gossip casually, but they don’t know how much harm they will bring to others. This kind of behavior is actually very annoying.”
“But, Miss Krista, they are well aware that they are wrong. It’s all due to me. I don’t want them to lose their jobs as a result of what I’ve done. Could you please help me? Please Cheney, okay?”
Those aunts, but also people who hurt me by chewing her tongue behind their backs.
Now I’m supposed to take action to protect them?
I’m not interested in doing so.
Flora, on the other hand, looked at me pitifully, her eyes full of tenderness and kindness.
It’s tough for me to say no when I see these kinds of eyes.
But why doesn’t she go to Cheney instead?
Isn’t it simpler for her to find Cheney to solve this problem because of her relationship with him?
After a moment of silence, I said, “Miss Flora, I’m really sorry. I’m not very fond of doing things against my will. Cheney dismissed them for me. I have no reason to dismantle him at this time. Furthermore, in the Fischer’s mansion, aunts are all people in the workplace. In the workplace, every employee should abide by the company’s rules and regulations. Since they violate the regulations, they should be punished without exception. Otherwise, what’s the use of rules and regulations? In the future, how should people in the Fischer’s mansion be managed?.”
“I don’t understand the rules in the workplace. I just think that people should have good thoughts. It is not terrible to do wrong things. Mistakes can be changed, and everything is in time.”
I shook my head and smiled at her. “Miss Flora, the rules in the workplace are far more rigorous than you think. Aunties are adults, not three-year-old children. This punishment is their responsibility, so, I hope you will understand my decision.”
She hung her eyes. “The workplace is terrible. How can it be so inhuman?”
I got up and smiled at her. “This is not unreasonable, it is defending the rules. In fact, you should know Cheney’s temper. Even if I ask him now, it is useless. He is a person who pays more attention to the rules than me.”
After being polite, I went straight back to the Jade Court.
On Sunday at noon, I was already napping off on the couch when Echo called with some bad news. “Krista, according to the news, you married Cheney six years ago with the help of a third party. It also claimed that Cheney divorced you soon after you married, and that you came back to rob people with Cheney’s first love this time. This is basically ruining your reputation.”
I began to sink. “When did you hear about it?”
“Just now, when I was brushing the TV, the latest news forced into the headlines.”
“The person who broke the news must have a connection to the Fischer family,” I groaned.
“What makes you sure of that.”
“Although these things broke by the other party are somewhat different from reality, Cheney and I divorced six years ago, which is only the news that some people living in the Fischer family will know.”
“Right.”
“I’ll call Cheney and ask how to solve this matter.”
“Right, right, with Cheney, will there be problems that can’t be solved? Then you are busy.”
Hang up the phone, and I dialed Cheney’s phone directly.
On the other end of the phone, Cheney ridiculed, “It’s rare, you will finally take the initiative to call me.”
“You saw the news.”
“I guess that’s why you’re calling. I’ve asked Milo to send someone to block the news source. By the way, find out who is behind the moth. When I have the result, I will call you. You don’t have to worry.”
I nodded. “I’m not worried. I just think that the person who spread the news is probably in the Fischer family. Not many people know about our divorce six years ago.”
He asked me to have lunch conveniently. At noon, he drove me to a western restaurant for dinner
.
Until I finished eating, Cheney said, “Just now, I received a message that the person who broke the news with the reporter was the kitchen aunt who was fired from me yesterday.”
“Aunt Kitchen?”
“Surprised? Didn’t you all think of it? It must be people living in the Fischer family who can spread these words.”
I nodded and nodded. “It seems that we have been privately retaliated.”
“Sort of.”
