He shook his head and smiled, took out a paper towel, and wiped the vinegar juice on my mouth.
“What Gia said just now is true. Flora is my first love. Before, she became a vegetable because of an accident. This is really a miracle in medicine.”
I nodded. “Congratulations, I think you should all be very happy.”
After eating two Sandwiches and emptying the plate, I put down my chopsticks and looked at him and said, “I am very happy that you can open your heart to me about this. This proves that you regard me as a friend, right? Just now, Gia said that you didn’t separate because you didn’t love, but because of an accident. I want to come… Flora’s recovery should be something you have been looking forward to for you.”
He looked at me, hesitating as if to say something.
I exhaled, “I know that every first love is a sincere feeling that a person has experienced in the past. I respect your feelings and your choice. If you need me to sign the divorce agreement, I will cooperate.”
To be clear in the situation, I must prepare myself. But I don’t know, even if I choose the right path my decision made my heart feel heavy.
Cheney’s face sank. “Is that what you want to tell me?”
I nodded and sensed his displeasure. “I remember what you said when you promised to marry me. Because you don’t love me, it is the same to marry anyone. A long time ago, you asked me if I would like to walk my life with you. I also said that if there is no one you think is suitable on this road, I will walk with you, but if this person appears, I will never stop you.”
I added. “After all, to be able to stay with the people you love and share a bed with the people you don’t love for a lifetime is a completely different life. Although I don’t believe in love, I can’t deny that there is still love in this world. You helped me on the road of seeking justice for my father, and I am very grateful to you. Now, I have regarded you as very important to me… My friend, now I know that you have found your true love, and I am very happy for you. I really mean it. ”
Cheney stood up with a black-faced and looked down at me. I also stood up at this time and looked at him. Why is he angry? I took the initiative to set him free, but did I still do something wrong?
He took out his wallet, put two hundred pieces on the table, and turned and walked out. After I turned back and greeted the proprietress, I followed him out of the dumpling restaurant.
Back in the car, it rained harder. He didn’t drive, just sat in the driver’s seat with deep eyes.
I looked at him and said, “Do you want me to drive?”
He said coldly, “You want a divorce yourself.”
I paused, puzzled.
He looked at me. “The Brennan group is down, Brent is in jail, Zaniyah is dead, and your father’s revenge has been avenged. So now you want to kick down the ladder. You want to leave me and embrace freedom, don’t you?”
I frowned. “You think too much. I didn’t think about it at all. I just think that your beloved is awake. Maybe, you need to give her a birthright, so…”
“You are thinking too much,” he snorted unhappily, “I said, I will never go back on my word, I said I want to live with you till we get old, maybe you think that I am teasing you before?”
I was surprised by his words. What does he mean, when the woman he loves is back, does he still want to live with me all his life?
I asked. “And Flora?”
“This is not something you should think about. The only thing you need to do now is to do your part as Mrs. Fischer as always. The other things don’t need your attention. Besides, a word divorce, don’t let me hear it again.”
Hearing what he said, my heart was inexplicably warm. I side headed, looking at the window, quietly biting my lips, “Then you cannot say that I occupy your wife’s position and refused to let go, I said to let go, but it is your own disagreement.”
He snorted, started the car, and left.
Mr. Quincy said that if it rains again in the afternoon, everyone will go to the conference room for a meeting together. So, when I got back to the company, I didn’t follow him upstairs but went to the conference room.
Cheney’s POV
When I got back to the office, Gia was still there. I skew Gia and walk into the office.
She got up and followed me into the office. “Mr. Cheney, why does it have to be her?”
Of course, I know that she would ask. I sat down, and my eyes were full of distress but calm, “Because she is smart enough.”
“Am I clever? Am I inferior to her in your eyes?”
“There is no doubt about your ability to work, but emotionally, you are really not smart enough compared with her,” I leaned back in the chair. “At least she knows that she shouldn’t insist on what she can’t get, and she won’t covet what doesn’t belong to her. Instead of doing useless work, it is better to be herself. She won’t give me any pressure when I am with her. Can you do this?”
“Of course, I can do it.”
I sneered, “You? You are less than one ten-thousandth of her.”
“You just don’t like me, so you won’t give me half a point of affirmation.”
“If you two change positions today, and she is you, then when she said something about Flora to you just here, you will never be as calm as her. When I am with you, you will only ask me to give you love. Even if I give more, you will not be satisfied, but she is different.”
She looked wronged. “That’s because she doesn’t love you.”
I stayed calm and hooked my lips, “I know, it is not that she doesn’t love me. It’s because I don’t love. She is by my side so that she cannot get hurt.”
She bit her lip and looked dissatisfied.
I crossed my legs. “Have you decided? Go abroad or go downstairs.”
She shook her fist. “I don’t want to go anywhere.”
“Then you can only submit your resignation report.”
“I’ll go downstairs.”
