Krista’s POV
The next day, Krista woke up, and Jacob was in the ward. He was whispering to Cheney, “This is the chicken soup that the old lady specially made. She got up early this morning and cooked it for you. After a while, the old lady woke up and was ready to drink. The old lady said that you are also having a hard time accompanying you, so you should make up for it.”
Cheney nodded. “Ok, I got it, Uncle Jacob. Have you eaten?”
Jacob smiled at him. “Not yet. I’ll go back to serve the old man and the old lady before I eat. There’s no hurry.”
“These days, the weather is always cold, so pay more attention to your body.”
“So are you, young master.”
I’m wondering because I’ve never seen Cheney so gentle with anyone. This Jacob must have a magical existence.
After Jacob left, I pretended to have just opened my eyes, and Cheney looked at me. “You woke up in time.” I sat up and smiled at him. “I woke up not long ago. It was terrible to disturb you and Uncle Jacob, so I pretended to sleep.”
He calmly said, “Get up and eat. My grandmother hasn’t cooked for many years.”
I sat up. “Then I’m really honored. I want to have more soup.” After a few mouthfuls of soup, I asked curiously, “Uncle Jacob must be related to the Fischer family besides taking care of his grandparents for many years.”
“What do you mean?”
“I think when you talk to Uncle Jacob, you don’t talk to others in the same tone. It feels like you respect him so much.”
He gave me an oblique look. “You mean, when I talk to others, I don’t respect them?”
“That’s not true. I just think that you are different when you talk to Uncle Jacob. You really have nothing else to do with it?”
His expression changed. “You are curious about too many things. Eat your food.”
“Isn’t this small talk?”
“You don’t understand the truth that children understand, don’t you understand?”
I stopped talking and concentrated on soup, but my heart became more curious.
After eating, he arranged for two aunts and senior nursing staff to accompany me to bed and went to the company first.
After Cheney left, I said I wanted to go out for a walk. So the aunt pushed my wheelchair.
After I went to the nurse station to ask if they knew where Quincy’s room was located, I came to visit Quincy.
Quincy’s room is in a warm ward with more than a dozen flowers in it. It seems that many people have come to visit him since yesterday.
He had to lie in a hospital bed because of his wrist injury.
Seeing me coming, he turned his face up and closed his eyes. “I’m a little tired. I don’t like to entertain guests, so go back to your ward and rest.”
I noticed his attitude towards me, and my heart ached a little. However, I put up with it.
After all, he saved me. I turned to the aunt and said, “Go out first, I want to be alone with Mr. Quincy.”
Sitting in a wheelchair, I was silent for a while before saying, “You don’t have to be too nervous. I came here just to see if you are all right.”
“I’m fine.” Quincy said he didn’t open his eyes.
“Uncle Quincy,” I looked at him. “Thank you for saving me.”
“You saved me first, and now we are even.”
I smiled. “You don’t have to be in such a hurry to distance yourself from me. You can rest assured. And I won’t ask you to tell me the secret of the past.”
He opened his eyes and looked at me.
I bit my lips and spoke. “Uncle Quincy, my dad told me that he admired you very much. I believe my dad’s eyes, and I believe my own eyes more. These days, you are really a general on the construction site. Seeing you reminds me of my father’s strategizing on the construction site. I always feel that my father is the most handsome, wearing that uniform and commanding everyone on the construction site. In you, I saw my father. ”
His eyebrows frowned slightly, and he didn’t make a sound. I looked out of the window and continued, “Uncle Quincy, when my father committed suicide, he told me to believe him. He is innocent, I believe him, and I believe it. I actually want to ask you a special question, do you believe my father?”
I look at him again.
He was silent for a moment. “I believe every designer will not want to see such a result.”
“I mean, do you believe in my father?” I asked him again.
Quincy frowned. “Krista, your father was dead. What’s the point of immersing yourself in the right and wrong of the past? Can your father come back to life? Why don’t you let go of the past and live your life well? You are still young. Do you want to lose your future because of a collapsed bridge? Your mother has started over. Why are you so persistent? I hope you let go. It’s for your own good. ”
I looked at him and heard him say this, and I knew he knew something.
I sighed, stood up, turned my wheelchair, and wheeled myself towards the door. After a few seconds, I looked back at him. “Uncle Quincy, how can a daughter who knows her father has done nothing wrong and listens to people all over the world accuse him of being indifferent?”
I looked down and shook the handle of my wheelchair. “I… saw my father jump off the bridge with my own eyes. I couldn’t catch him. I couldn’t do anything. I blamed myself. I kept asking myself why I wasn’t a strong daughter, strong enough to protect my father. When my father was alive, I couldn’t be his pride. When my father tried to die, I couldn’t be a lifeline in his life. Now that my father is gone, if I can’t do anything for him, what’s the difference between living and dying? ”
I looked up at him, but he looked away and said nothing.
Seeing him, I looked down and smiled. “Uncle Quincy, I came here and didn’t mean to mention my father to you. I am very happy to see that you are alright. The Dragon Bridge project is still waiting for you. I hope you can recover soon. I will go back first.” After I said my last words, I stretched out my hand, opened the ward’s door, and went out.
