“So, you are telling me this new lady friend you just met is coming over for the get-together?” her friend asked her over the phone.
It was her last day in LA and she was excited to get back home to see her family and friends and even though Dimitri didn’t bother calling her, she still misses him and cant wait to see him.
After the conference that day, Daniella walked up to her and asked questions about business, tech, and many other things. Then she offered to treat her to dinner
“Well not just met, we have been talking and hanging out for a while now and she is cool” she shrugged then sat on her bed and grabbed her laptop to start going through the report of the event.
Nodding her head in satisfaction she closed her laptop and lay down.
“I was getting bored here and she was a great company so… why not and also I want you guys to meet her,” she said.
“Hmm, what’s her name?”
“Daniella Copello, she is Italian or Spanish… I guess, she told me but I really didn’t put it to mind” she said. “I need to pack up so I can take an early flight home.”
“Did you say Daniella Copello?” Sofia asked.
“Yeah, I did” then Sofia was quiet for some time. “Hello… Sof are you still there?” she asked when she didn’t say anything.
“Uh… yeah”
“Okay. Sof, I need to pack so I will hang up now and video call you in some seconds.”
She stood up and walked inside the little walk-in closet then brought out her traveling box to the bed.
It wouldn’t be that hard for her to pack up since she didn’t unpack all her clothes in the box.
“Yay, I love video chats with my bae for life” she excitedly said making Audriana laugh.
Then a male voice in the background said something to Sofia and she was answering him.
She knew it was Max talking to her and not wanting to third wheel like they’ve been letting her these days.
“I will call you later,” she said to the phone but Sofia stopped her.
“Video call me in thirty seconds as you promised.”
“Bossy much”
“You wouldn’t have it any other way”
“Okay, bossy friend” she disconnected it and opened her laptop to place a video call to her.
“Yo baby girl,” Sofia said when she answered the call.
She was sitting on a bed and was wearing an oversized shirt with a bowl of cereal in her hand and a bag of chips beside her.
Max could be spotted sitting beside her with his laptop in front of him as he drinks from a cup.
He looked at Sofia then at the screen and a smile graced his features upon seeing Audriana.
“Hey Audriana, how are you doing?” he asked coming closer to Sofia.
“I am good, thanks. How about you?”
“Happy,” he said looking at Sofia then kissing her forehead.
Sofia made a face and pushed him a bit.
“Go back to your work,” she said.
“You are my work,” he said and she laughed.
She looked at him and kissed his jaw then looked into his eyes.
“I need to speak to my friend without you interrupting,”
“Okay” he nods his head still looking at her.
“This is the time you left the room because what we talk shouldn’t be heard by a third party” she nods towards the door “Off you go buddy, I don’t want a third wheel here”
“I feel like the third wheel here,” Audriana said going through her phone.
“Yeah whatever” he rolled his eyes and kissed her forehead then turned to Audriana who was still scrolling through her phone, waiting for them to be done.
“Audri, sorry, and see you later,” he said with a wave and she looked at the screen and waved back at him and watched him take his leave.
After the sound of the door was heard from Sofia’s side, she put down her phone and smiled widely at her friend.
“Are you sure this thing between you guys is really on contract terms? Because it seems so real” she asked.
“Well, I am carrying his baby so he has to be nice to me”
“I don’t think that is the case here. Look” she showed Sofia her finger that had her wedding band on “I am carrying that douche’s ring and surname and he doesn’t treat me half of how Max does to you,” she said.
She stopped eating her cereal for a while and placed it on the bed then looked away in thought.
“Girl, I don’t know if you actually noticed but Dimitri has actually changed like he isn’t as he was before.” Sofia pointed and Audriana frowned a bit.
“Changed? I think that guy is bipolar. One minute he is so nice and friendly and wants us to be friendly and civil with each other and the next he is so moody ignores me and sometimes says things that earns him a calp on his cheeks”
“So tell me how that is been changed” she crossed her hands.
“I am so sorry it upset you but… I can’t just tell you about it, he has to be the one to tell you”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Just forget about it. don’t you notice the way he looks at you these days? It’s different and all the women that flocks themselves around him don’t get that special look from him” she said and muttered “Not even her”
“Who?” Audriana asked catching her last words with raised eyebrows.
“Who?” she asked back trying to mask her features with a confused look.
“You said something like ‘not even her’ who is she?”
Sofia let out a peal of nervous laughter and cleared her throat.
“Oh, don’t mind me. This pregnancy is making me say weird kinds of stuff” she laughed again and continued her eating.
Audriana didn’t believe her but just had to let it go. She might be right, the pregnancy could be the one doing all these things to her, who knows.
“Okay, let me get back to packing up I will call you later. It seems like you both want to spend more time together,” she said.
“No…” she pouted then saw Audriana’s brow raised up “Okay, maybe a little but you know my leave would expire by next week and no one knows I am pregnant yet” she rubbed her stomach.
“Oh yeah, what was your excuse again?” she said with a laugh and a big smile graced Sofia’s face.
“The statue I was going to tell my students about got sick and needed my utmost attention” she giggled at it.
“And that it could be feeling under the weather, like seriously how on earth did he think that was real?” they both giggled, remembering when Sofia told her about her excuse to get a week’s leave from work.
“I know right, he was looking at me like I was crazy but sometimes I think he sees me as weird,” she said in thought.
“A good kind of weird talented woman”
“Duh”
“Do you plan on telling anyone about the pregnancy? Even I am sure Liliana knows about it. Right?” she asked and saw the gloomy look that overshadowed her friend’s mood.
“You haven’t told your mum yet?”
She shook her head no.
“Why? I thought the last treatment was successful and she was healing well, she fine right?” she asked looking worried.
She looked at her friend.
“Yes, she is doing fine. She can walk now, although it is a step after another she is doing good.” Sofia smiled widely with tears gathering in her eyes.
“I am so happy, when I get back I will come to pay her a visit. The last time I saw her she was getting better but could still move her body” Audriana smiled and Sofia nodded cleaning her face.
“Why are you crying?” she asked.
