Chapter 41 Back Home

“So how did your honeymoon go?” Philip relaxed comfortably on the chair in front of her as she went through the source code her Dad emailed to her weeks before her wedding.
She had been so busy she forgot about it, even when her Dad put up a reminder every end of the week so she doesn’t forget she somehow forgets. Probably she was so overwhelmed by the whole wedding preparations.
Now she was back at work and got lots and lots of congratulations from both her fellow workers and students. They were happy for her and some teased her about marrying one of the most eligible bachelors in New York City.
She just told him what she told everyone else.
“They have been childhood friends and once dated before she broke up with him due to some misunderstanding they had, so that left him miserable and begging for her to take him back. Now they are grown and realize how much they love each other and decided to reunite by getting married”
She had already gotten tired of telling everyone that but they had an agreement and she had to stick with it.
“Hello, is she there?” Philip snapped his finger in front of her face and she shook her head and faced him with a frown.
“What?” she asked going back to what she was doing before zoning out.
“I asked how your honeymoon went and you are yet to reply me. Are you okay?” Philip sat up straight looking at her closely.
She glanced at him and looked away immediately then cleared her throat.
“I am fine, it was good though” she said.
“You keep zoning out before your marriage and even after your marriage, are you okay?” he took her hands in his and leaned in a bit. “Is he treating you well?”
She looked into his green eyes and smiled.
“Yes, he is. Why would you think like that Philip?” she asked, breaking eye contact with him.
“Okay, I am sorry if that question made you uncomfortable. I was just concerned” he said, leaning back on the chair.
“No, don’t apologize, you are a caring friend and I appreciate that” she said.
“Okay, just dont use the friend thing on me yet, i still haven’t gotten over you yet. Sorry but I will as time goes on” he said and she noticed his eyebrow had a little furrow and his lips were pursed.
“Oh, I am so sorry, Philip. I never meant to break your heart, please forgive me” she said feeling bad for the poor guy.
He was genuine but she was wrong to have led him on and think there was going to be something when she was just trying to run away from reality and enjoy that moment at that time.
“Nah, it’s fine Audri, I just want you to be happy and if that guy makes you happy then so be it,” he said. “I am sorry I couldn’t come for your wedding… i was…” he said and she shakes her head.
“I understand Philip, you don’t have to explain to me” she said. “You are a very sweet guy and any girl will be lucky to have you as their significant other” she said.
He just nodded and sighed.
“Thank you Audriana” he said then cleared his throat. He sat up properly on the chair and smiled.
“So tell me how did your honeymoon go?”
She looked at him and sighed. He didn’t know and it should remain that way. Only Sofia, Caleb, Aiden, her parents, and Dimitri’s parents know about what happened. She didn’t want to go through telling anyone what happened there.
Dimitri was sweet enough to understand her situation and not push further to ask about what happened to her in the elevator, he even worked hard to shut the mouth of the staff in the hotel so that they would never breathe to anyone what happened there.
She knew he knew the press would try to get on how they spent their honeymoon and it would be distressing for her or rather for them both so he did his best to shut them up and thankfully it worked.
“It was fine” was her reply.
“Just, fine? Come on tell me, did you go to the beach, went to a park, a tourist center, anything. I want to know.” he urges her.
“That is what you should know, it was fine and okay” she nodded and continued looking through the source code in her system.
“Okay, i get, you don’t need to tell me the couple things you guys did,” he said and she snapped her head to his direction with her eyes wide open and her cheeks warm with blush.
“Okay, you have said enough Dimi- Philip, you may leave” she said, feeling her face flush more. It didn’t help that she didn’t wear any makeup and the blush on her face was super visible.
“Wow, even mistaking my name for his, he got you good eh?” he chuckled and stood up to leave when she picked up an eraser to throw at him.
“Get, out” she threw it at him and he ducked laughing in the process.
“I wish you the best in your marriage,” he said and left her office.
What was with him and teasing her all of a sudden? He doesn’t like Dimitri one bit, no one needs to analyze it to know. You definitely wouldn’t like the person that ends up with the one you fall for.
Her cheeks heated up more and she placed her slightly cold fingers on her cheeks to try to calm them down.
What couple things is he referring to? They didn’t do anything and didn’t really spend the whole time together aside the day they left the hotel. Nothing happened, they didn’t even hold hands when they got to their destination.
There wouldn’t be anything going on between them, to begin with. Just their wedding kiss and the teasing moment that almost got out of hand if her bestie and friends hadn’t interrupted.
Then her dream about them in an intimate situation. She groaned and put her head on the table trying to forget it. It was just a dream and nothing else. But still it felt so real, like something did happen. Dimitri coming out in just a towel didn’t help matters at all.
She had never seen him shirtless aside that morning and nothing since then. Not like she was expecting to see him shirtless or wearing a fitted t-shirt. She wasn’t even expecting to bump into him wearing nothing but a towel wrapped around that waist of his.
She looked up and shook her head so that the thoughts going through her head could stop. She let out a huff of breath and looked at her laptop to continue what she was doing and her mind was blank.
Really? Did he penetrate her mind also? How can she not concentrate on work? Something that had never ever happened.
“Audriana, what is wrong with you?” she put her palm on both sides of her head and groaned for the nth time.
“I need coffee,” she exclaimed.
With that being said, she closed her laptop and stood up taking her purse and phone with her then walked up to the door and locked it when she was outside.
‘At least I can clear my head a bit’

“Hey man” Aiden, Caleb and Dimitri did the bro shake and hugged each other one by one.
“How are you doing man?” Aiden asked Caleb who rubbed his face with his palm and sighed.
“I am good, kicking as always,” he replied.
“And Emily?” Dimitri asked and Caleb turned to him smiling.
“Better than ever, she was just in shock and… she is doing fine, thanks” he replied, shaking his head.
“Are you sure everything is fine?” Aiden asked, looking worried.
“Yeah, everything is fine. I want to thank you guys for your support these past few days, I really needed it. Emily needed it a lot, thank you” Caleb said and they waved it off.
“Seriously dude, we are family and we have to make sure we are all doing well and okay. I was glad Dad was there to find her on time” Dimitri said and poured himself some water.
“Yeah, I am glad,” Caleb said.
“Dimitri, I still apologized about your honeymoon destination” Aiden placed his palm on his chest “I didn’t know they had shitty services there”
“No, it’s fine, I just wondered who gave them the review of being the best in that town” Dimitri frowned a bit when he remembered how scared it made Audriana. “He was more concerned about the hotel’s name than his customer’s experience” Dimitri muttered with annoyance.
“That is very bad, what if something worse happened? Not just only Audriana but you” Caleb said, shaking his head.
“I am so sorry, I just thought it was the best place for you both, since you both fancy simple things. Accept my apologies and extend my apologies to Audriana too” Aiden said feeling bad for what happened.
“Come on man, it’s all in the past. We are okay anyways, that’s the important thing.” Dimitri said.
“Okay, so how is Audriana coping?” Aiden asked playfully.
“Coping with what?” Dimitri asked.
“You of course,” he said matter of factly.
Dimitri threw him a glare and rolled some tissue paper in a ball shape and threw it at Aiden.
“Sissy,” he muttered.
He picked up his pen ready to throw it at him when Caleb spoke up and told them to stop being childish.
