Noel’s POV
So, Friday evenings my time to rest, reflect on the tiresome school week, sleep and marathon on different games. But sadly this wasn’t happening, all my usual plans wasn’t happening instead here I was this lovely evening sitting on my bed, leg and hands crossed, frowning and shooting dagger glares at the two morons in my room.
“This one?”
“No too shabby.”
“This, its sexy.”
“Gah, her boobs will be all be out.”
“Ok just band T-shirt then?” Jesse asked clearly tired of going through my closet.
“Cute shirt,” Aaron says dangling a below the waist grey shirt that had a star decorations at a corner. One of my favorite shirts.
“Hmm nice,” Jesse said smiling, “we could pair it with this .” he lifted a black leggings that was just right.
“Yep perfect, with this heels.” He brought out black pumps, he carried the outfits and placed them on my bed neatly arranged. “Aren’t we missing something?”
“Undies?” Jesse asked raising his hands up.
“Nah I think she can handle that. But just in case,” he walked to my closet and brought out my Mickey mouse panties, shielding it from Jesse’s eyes he wiggled it at me.
My face turned bright red as I jumped out of the bed, “Ok ok that’s enough, get out you all.” I say opening my window for them to jump out just the way they got in.
Jesse groaned getting up the ground, walking to me and patting my cheek, “get pretty.” Then he hopped out of my window with ease. Aaron was about to follow his lead before I stopped.
“I’ll take that,” I say snatching my panty out of his hand. He pouted then hopped out but not before winking at me. I shut my window then my curtains, can afford any peeking in.
God, those boys were something else, they wouldn’t just leave me alone. First they infiltrated my little group of friends and practically forced us into going to a party. Well they didn’t exactly force Liv, she was all willing to go. She seemed to be the only one who was okay with Aaron and Jess. Raymond was silently fuming and going red, Nadine was just observing everything, she wasn’t for or against the new company. Peyton– Peyton was just there, she was too affected by their presence to even think or talk. Luke, Luke was just Luke– quite. And me, well we all know how I’m taking all this.
I quickly shower then put on my chosen outfit, the rebel in me wanted to change and wear an outfit I choose for myself, but I honestly have nothing against the outfit I actually like it and something is telling me that if I don’t put it, Aaron would send me back to change– yes he’s annoying like that. Although I’m totally against letting guys pick my clothes for me, but I’m letting this one slide.
“Can we come in?” I heard Peyton voice say from behind my room door. A smiled appeared on my face, they’ve come like they said they would.
“Ofcourse we can, we’re her friends now and we’re girls, we aren’t going to see anything that we haven’t seen before behind this door,” Nadine said as she opened the door and walked in a huge smile on her face, “hi Noel.”
“Welcome, I thought you guys bailed out.” I say pulling out my curling iron.
“I almost did but Nadine won’t let me,” Peyton said looking around my room. “Your room’s pretty.”
“Thanks Pey,” I said then I looked at them, Nadine wore a baby blue knee length dress while Peyton wore jeans with flats and a nice chiffon top. “You guys look hot.”
“Thanks it was a real hassle with Peyton over here, its like she’s anti hot or something,” Nadine said taking hold of my curling iron as Peyton flipped her off. I chuckled deciding to stay still before I lose an ear.
“So, Jesse is just next door. Like right behind this window?” Peyton asked drawing my curtains open.
“Yep, really close.”
“Great,” she exclaimed before opening her purse and bringing out mini binoculars.
“What, ” i laughed, “you won’t need that, he’s really close.”
She turned to look at me, “you can never be too close Noel.” She opened the window, then gasped shutting it immediately, she turned to us gaping and eye wide. “A… Aaron-lee is there… Shirtless.” I rolled my eyes.
“Really?” Nadine said putting down my curling iron and moving to the window. Peyton collapsed on top my bed, her eye wide at the ceiling as she fanned herself.
“Oh come on,” I said not understanding their reaction but also secretly understanding, if you know what I mean. “Peyton did you faint?”
“No, hottest overload.” She said dreamingly.
“Oh my frappe, his putting on his shirt now, his buttoning up, Jesse just showed and I can see his boxer brief!” She said, I hurriedly got up and shut the window, closing the curtain and giving her an eye that said ‘really?’. “How are you still alive with those two next door?.”
“Will you come finish up with me,” I say returning to my dressing table.
“This house should cost a whole lot more than it does.” Nadine mumbled coming to finish my makeup.
I put on mascara, a little blush and nude pink lips. My hair was curled and parted in the center, falling down my shoulders in voluminous curls finished up with a black furry beanie slanting behind. I looked beautiful.
“Noel, the guys are here.” My mum shouted from downstairs, yes she was at home and in less than twenty four hours she have managed to warm up to both Jesse said Aaron. How is that even possible?.
We exited my room, checking ourselves out in the mirror for the last time. I saw Aaron downstairs sitting on the sofa and watching my mum’s soap opera, while Jesse was having a conversation with her laughing at whatever it was they were talking about.
I cleared my throat, “we’re ready.” Jesse and mum were the first to turn to us, before Aaron got off the sofa and froze his eyes on me. I felt a flutter in my chest as our eyes met and I looked away my cheeks warming up.
Oh blush please conceal my blush.
“You guys look lovely,” my mum gushed, walking to me and clasping my hand in hers, “You would have looked perfect in a dress.”
I rolled my eye with a smile, trust my mum to find fault. “Not happening mum.”
Jesse relaxed on the wall checking us out with his mouth twisted up, “I guess its possible for you three to shine, see what you hide behind glasses and a book Davis.”
I could feel Peyton shuffling behind me, I’m sure her face was bright red already. I looked at Aaron who was now standing in front of us, “you look beautiful Noel,” I didn’t need to see my mum to know that she was holding down a squeal.
“Thank you,” I mumbled my voice coming out childish.
“Erm… You all look beautiful,” he said running his hand through his hair, “ok let’s go.”
We were riding Aaron’s car, Nadine and Peyton took the back seat and somehow I ended up taking shotgun. Aaron starts the car and I can feel his gaze on me. I consciously touch my face wondering if there’s anything on it. “What?” I ask wondering if some silent evil wind has come and messed with my makeup or hair. Is that even possible? Yes, anything is possible.
“Nothing,” he says looking at me and grinning widely.
I nod but he still doesn’t stop looking at me, “So…” I hear Nadine struggling to keep down her laughter. “Are we leaving anytime soon?”
That brings him back to his senses he looks away running his hand through his face, “yea sure.” He turns around to adjust his rearview mirror, he can’t help but grin at his reflection. “Well don’t I look handsome.”
I laugh, “you don’t expect me to compliment you right?”
He scoffs turning red, “No, why would I want that. I mean its not as if I wore my favorite shirt or anything.”
I smile and I’m about to give him a compliment that won’t sound like a compliment but Peyton beats me to it.
“You look great AL,” She says quietly but loud enough for everyone to hear.
Aaron turns and smiles his million dollar smile at her, “Thank you Peyton.” He turns and childishly scowls at me before starting up the car. I turn away from him, facing my window and crossing my hands. I feel something in the pit of my stomach, something I can’t place a finger on. Does Peyton still have a crush on Aaron? Why did he have to smile so big at her? He doesn’t need anyone to tell him how good he looks coz he looks in anything, even in boxers.
Aaron engages in small talk with Nadine and barely Peyton, he seems to get along with them and that kinda makes me happy. They are my new friends and I’ll like to believe Aaron and I have some Frenemy stuff going on. It good for friends and Frenemies to get along. I don’t talk much, I just look outside observing the road and signs and everything. I’m still new to New York I don’t know a lot of places. I also find out from Nadine that we’re going to Party Patrick’s party. He’s a jock and throws the wildest and most awesome parties after Jesse.
The truth is I’m a bit nervous about going to this party, I’ve not been to a party in a while, the last party I was at didn’t even well at all. It was in California and I’d gone there to escape the gloominess and boredom at home, my dad was gone and everything was just surreal, I’d gotten really drunk and wild and I work up cuffed to one boy on a bed. Thankfully with my clothes on. The only bad thing is that I was stuck to the boy for 2 hours and all the while he kept throwing up and he had a girlfriend, yep you can imagine how that ended. She thought I was screwing her boyfriend that I’ve never met before in my life, a huge fight ensured and I ended up in prison with a huge chunk of human hair in my fist. Not pretty.
Since then I’ve refrained from the public for the good of my mum’s heart and for my own peace of mind. Party contains drama, drama is something I do not need. Well now since I was coerced by Aaron and co to come here, I guess I was ready to loosen up, live a little. Have fun.
“Well took you guys long enough,” Jesse said relaxing on his motorcycle in the parked parking lot, “I thought you girls chickened out.”
Aaron found a spot real easy it was like the spot was kept for him. We got out and met up with Jesse, “No, Aaron was waiting for a compliment.” I said smirking at him.
“I was not,” he denied vehemently.
Jesse smiled walking over to Aaron and slinging an arm over his shoulder. They start some kind of monkey struggle and I roll my eyes deciding to leave them to it. “We’ll meet you guys inside,” I yell but I’m not sure they heard me. We girls leave them to it and start walking into the full house, Nadine sees someone she knows and runs off to meet the person, leaving only Peyton and me. I can’t continue to ignore the curiosity that’s chewing off at the back of my head. “Peyton?” She looks up at me and I continue. “Do you hate Aaron?”
“What? No why would you think that?” She ask eye wide.
I shrug, “Nadine told me about the letter ordeal last year,” her face falls and she looks down at her shoes, “oh don’t be mad, she was just trying to warn me.”
She looks up and offers me a small smile, “I’m not mad.”
“Ok,” I answer relived, we go into a long pause and I can’t help but continue, “So do you hate him because of everything?”
She shakes her head vigorously, “No, No I don’t hate him. I can’t.” She looks up at me, “I can’t bring myself to hate him.”
I raise a brow at her, urging her to expand. She sighs and continue. “You don’t know the reason I liked him in the first place. He saved me. Throughout my life I’ve known Aaron-lee, we went to kindergarten. I was a victim to severe bullying and he saved me in middle school. Kids ganged up on my beating me up and throwing things at me, everybody ignored like they were blind. But AL didn’t, he walked up to them and fought them off, then he called me his property and said if anyone laid hands on me again they’ll have to deal with him. I don’t think he even remembers it but since then I’ve liked him. And the bullying stopped a great deal. The letter stuff, I don’t know what happened or what caused it. But I’m sure there’s a good explanation. So… I don’t hate him.”
“And you’re still crushing on him,” I said more to myself than her.
“Shh that’s my little secret.” Peyton said laughing. I laughed with her too but I wasn’t exactly happy, the unknown feeling was bad and right now… Right now I wished Peyton wasn’t crushing on Aaron.
“Come on we’re at a party let’s go dance,” Peyton said dragging me into and through the sweaty bodies of hormonal teenagers. I decided to forget everything and dance with my new friend. We found a free space in the middle and started dancing our hearts out.
Laughing, giggling, jumping and gyrating, Peyton and I danced together. We danced until we got tired and decided to visit the powder room. As soon as we entered we saw three girls there, Quinn amongst them.
“Well well well if it isn’t my favourite new girl,” Quinn said referring to me, then she turned to Peyton. “Get out mute.”
Peyton held my hand shaking and refusing to move from her spot. I nodded at her to go and she reluctantly left. I turned to Quinn.
“What do you want?”
