She wasn’t at the forest too so I thought of driving back to her house and wait for her to return.
I stopped my car near her house and saw Blaire walking inside the house. I shouted her name but she didn’t listen, I shouted again but it went unheard again. Seems like she’s lost in her own thoughts. I ran after her calling out her name but she wasn’t listening, she just kept walking and I followed her. She was going to the terrace and before I could understand anything she jumped off the terrace leaving me stunned. I lost my senses as I watched her jump off.
“Blaire” I shouted and ran down. She layed there on the ground as her head hit the ground. Her eyes were closed and face covered with blood. Tears rolled down my cheeks when I called out her name and she didn’t respond.
“Open your eyes Blaire”
“Blaire I love you, open your eyes. Talk to me please” I said with tears in my eyes.
I checked her veins the pulse rate hadn’t stopped but it was slow meaning she wasn’t dead. She could be saved. I quickly picked her up and ran towards the hospital. The people on the road gazed suspiciously at me for the speed I was running at. They might have found it abnormal but I don’t care. At the moment all I care about is Blaire.
“Where’s the doctor?” I shouted and the ward boy pointed in the left direction, where two doctors were standing, discussing something. I ran in their direction.
“Doctor please help, please save her” I said impatiently.
“It’s an emergency. We need to operate her. Nurse make the arrangements, quick” the doctor said, looking at Blaire’s condition.
After three hours the doctors finally came out of the operation theatre and looking at their faces, I had no courage to ask them about her condition.
“S.. she’s out of danger right?” I forced the words out, wanting to hear the good news but their faces said something else.
“She’s not. We’ve kept her on ventilator and we can’t say if there’s any chance for her survival. Her condition is critical” the doctor said and left.
“Can’t say if there’s any chance for her survival” the words kept ringing in my head. The images of my mom, dad and sister’s death flashed in front of my eyes. I’ve already lost my whole family now I can’t afford to lose Blaire.
I wiped away my tears. I’ll save her no matter what. Even if I have to do ‘that’, I’ll do it but I won’t let her leave me.
Firstly I dialed Ethie’s number which I got from Blaire’s phone and informed her about Blaire’s condition, she said they’re arriving to the earliest. It’ll take half an hour for them to reach. Cool, by that time I’ll do my job. Half an hour will be more than enough for me to bring her back to life. I stepped inside the ICU, where Blaire was kept. She was on ventilator, she lied there unconscious, having difficulty in breathing. I can’t watch her like this. I stroked her hair and whispered in her ears “You’ll be okay.” I peeled off the skin from my wrist, letting the blood out. I then removed the oxygen mask from her face and fed her my blood and then put on the mask again. “You’ll be fine” I whispered and kissed her forehead before leaving.
Her family came rushing in. “Where’s she?” asked her mom in a shaky voice.
“There” I said pointing in the ICU’s direction. I waited outside while they were all in. I watched her through the glass of the window. She was still unconscious and breathing heavily.
“How did this happen?” Ethie asked after coming out of the ICU.
“She lost her balance and fell from the terrace” I lied. I don’t want to tell anyone that it was a suicide. I don’t want her to appear a coward in everyone’s eyes.
“My sister” cried Ethie and fell with a thud on the chair. I’ve never seen Ethie or anyone from her family worried for her like they were today. Not even then, when I had brought her home when she had passed out in the library. If you would have shown some love and care towards her when she was fine then she would never have done this Ethie.
“Doctor”
“Nurse” shouted Blaire’s parents which made Ethie and me run inside. Blaire was struggling for breathe. She was finding it hard to survive. By the time, doctors and nurses arrived, Blaire was no more.
All her family members were present at her funeral, paying a visit to her one by one for one last time. All were crying and wanted to talk to her. She finally got the love she wanted when she was alive. I went near the coffin where Blaire was laying in a white dress. I know she’s not gone but it’s killing me to watch her like this. I stroked her hair and cupped her cheeks. “Why did you do this Blaire? What bothered you?”
“I know there’s some reason behind you taking your own life and I won’t spare the person behind this. I’m going to kill that person who forced you to take this step. This is my promise to you love”
It was the time for the world to bid her final goodbye and her coffin was carried and taken to bury.
‘.. For the first time she was loved,
For the first time she was cried for,
For the first time people wanted to talk to her,
For the first time she was wanted,
But it was too late
As her soul was gone
And coffin ready to be buried under the soil…’
