Chasel immediately understood Leo’s thoughts and sighed lightly, unsure of what to say. He naturally had sympathy and wanted to take in Marina, but he was more afraid that her arrival would bring trouble.
He was well aware of the methods used by the major families in the capital.
“What’s wrong, Chasel? Are you scared too?” Leo smiled and deliberately provoked him.
“Scared my ass! I’ve died several times, what do I have to be afraid of!?” Chasel angrily retorted, then turned to Marina and said, “Miss Meredith, Dr. Bloomer has promised that as long as you’re willing, you can stay here. No one can take you away!”
Leo smiled with satisfaction. He loved seeing Chasel’s passionate spirit.
“Thank you.” Even though Marina had a calm personality, she couldn’t help but tear up at this moment. When she was at her most helpless and lost, Leo took her in, and she was naturally moved beyond words.
Leo took Marina and Sandra to the backyard and assigned rooms for both of them, settling them down.
After two or three days, Marina and Sandra got used to life here. What they didn’t know was that the Meredith family in the capital had turned everything upside down in their search for them. After all, the wedding was approaching, and if Marina was not present, the Meredith family would be unable to explain it to the groom’s family.
After Baldwin called Leo, he excluded Leo from the search, so naturally they couldn’t find her sister.
On that day, Leo was treating a patient in the clinic when Marina and Sandra came to the consultation room from the backyard.
“Dr. Bloomer, is there anything we can help with?” Marina felt it wasn’t right for them to just eat and do nothing here, so she wanted to help in the clinic.
“Miss Meredith, you are guests, how can we let you help?” Chasel waved his hand.
“Chasel, let Miss Meredith sort the herbs in the pharmacy.” Leo understood Marina’s thoughts and didn’t refuse her in order to make her feel better.
“Okay, then come with me to sort the herbs in the pharmacy.” Chasel smiled.
At that moment, a well-dressed young man walked into the clinic. He scanned the entire clinic and then asked, “Excuse me, which one of you is Mr. Bloomer?”
“I am.” Leo walked out of the consultation room.
Upon hearing the address “Mr. Bloomer,” Leo was slightly taken aback, as most people who came here called him Dr. Bloomer.
“Mr. Bloomer, nice to meet you. I am Albie Powell, the general manager of Everglow Beauty Company in the capital. I came here specifically to discuss cooperation with you.” The young man introduced himself.
He spoke politely and smiled sincerely, but everyone in the clinic could feel his arrogance.
“Discuss cooperation? This is a clinic. You should go to Leo & Rose Cosmetics.” Leo replied.
“I know you are the real boss behind Leo & Rose Cosmetics, so I came directly to you.” Albie smiled, but his eyes gleamed with a certain arrogance.
Leo led Albie into the reception room and asked, “What kind of cooperation do you want to discuss?”
“I want to obtain the permission to use the trademark of Leo & Rose Cosmetics.” Albie took out the contract as he spoke and pushed it directly in front of Leo, seemingly certain that Leo would sign the contract.
“Use our trademark to sell your products?” Leo raised an eyebrow.
“Yes, we will pay you a trademark usage fee. In addition to the fixed annual fee of one thousand dollars, we will also give you ten percent of the profits.” Albie said with a smile.
Their company’s products had decent sales in the capital, but they were far from matching Leo & Rose Cosmetics. If they could use the Leo & Rose Cosmetics brand, their annual revenue would at least quadruple.
“Mr. Powell, I think you have misunderstood. I’m not a beggar.” Leo sneered and pushed the contract back.
The most valuable asset of Leo & Rose Cosmetics was its brand. Albie wanting to buy the brand with such a small amount of money was simply absurd.
“Mr. Bloomer, I advise you to reconsider. The Powell family in the capital, I don’t know if you’ve heard of them.” Albie still had a smile on his face, but there was a clear chill in his tone.
“I have never heard of them, nor do I want to hear about them.” Leo said calmly.
This statement made Albie lose his composure. He slammed the table and stood up, saying coldly, “Leo, don’t overestimate yourself. Just because you can sit here with me doesn’t mean you can consider yourself on equal footing with me!”
“Let me tell you, in the eyes of the Powell family, you mean nothing! With just a word from me, your branch in the capital won’t be able to operate anymore. Don’t think Baldwin can protect you. Let me tell you, not just Baldwin, even the entire Meredith family, we don’t care about them!”
Marina, who was about to go to the pharmacy, listened attentively outside the reception room when she heard that Albie was from the capital. In her memory, she seemed to have met Albie at a social gathering before. He had even asked her for a business card, which she didn’t give him.
Initially, hearing Albie’s arrogance made Marina feel somewhat angry. But when she heard him belittling the Meredith family, she couldn’t help but laugh.
She knew about the Powell family. They were nothing more than a second-rate family in the capital. It was obvious that Albie was taking advantage of Leo’s lack of understanding of the capital’s situation to intentionally intimidate him.
Marina said to Sandra beside her, “Sandra, let’s go in and see this Mr. Powell who doesn’t care about the Meredith family.”
“Miss, if we go in, won’t it expose our whereabouts?” Sandra worriedly said.
“Don’t worry, I’ll just scare him a bit and make sure he doesn’t recognize me after seeing me.”
Sandra then walked into the reception room with Marina.
“Mr. Powell, do you still remember me?” Marina saw Albie and maintained her calm expression, speaking in a neutral tone.
Albie was slightly taken aback upon hearing her words. He looked up and instantly turned pale, trembling as he said, “Miss Meredith!?”
“Oh, you still recognize me. You don’t care about the entire Meredith family, so why do you recognize me?” Marina asked casually.
“Oh my, Miss Meredith, I, I’m doomed!” Albie quickly stood up from his seat, trembling in fear.
Seeing Marina’s displeased expression, he slapped himself across the face.
Albie now wished for death. Originally, he wanted to show off and intimidate Leo, taking advantage of his lack of knowledge about the capital’s situation. But he never expected that the young lady of the Meredith family would be here.
In fact, the reverse was true for his earlier statement. It was the Meredith family that didn’t care about the Powell family at all.
As long as the Meredith family was willing, with a little effort, they could make the Powell family unable to survive in the capital.
So when he saw Marina, he was naturally terrified. If Marina conveyed his words to Baldwin, he would probably end up dead on the street in no time.
“Miss Meredith, I’m doomed. Please spare me.” Albie, seeing that Marina hadn’t reacted yet, knelt down with a thud.
