“Are you sure you want me to leave, Percival?” Leo emphasized the word “leave” while speaking.
Percival immediately understood Leo’s meaning, gritted his teeth, and nodded forcefully. “Yes, I’ll leave.”
He hadn’t expected Leo to catch him like this. If he left, wouldn’t the people at Leo & Rose Cosmetics laugh at him?
If word got out, Percival’s reputation would be ruined. But he didn’t dare refuse.
“Alright, Percival, you’re truly unique. Since you insist on taking an unconventional route, I won’t stop you. However, I hope you follow through with your words; otherwise, the consequences will be even more severe.”
As Leo spoke, he lightly slapped Percival’s back, and a silver needle immediately flew out from his chest.
Percival shuddered but didn’t feel the same piercing pain as before.
“Percival, please leave.” Leo stood up and made a gentlemanly gesture.
Rosemary couldn’t help but cover her mouth and burst into laughter. She finally realized that it was Leo’s doing.
Percival’s face turned pale. Remembering the excruciating pain from earlier, he gritted his teeth and crawled to the office door, then rolled himself out. It was a difficult task, but he did it to avoid further confrontation with Leo.
“Make way, everyone! Don’t obstruct Percival’s spectacular exit!” Leo walked out leisurely with his hands behind his back, calling out.
If Leo hadn’t shouted, not many people in the company would have noticed the situation in the meeting room. But as soon as he did, everyone came out of their offices.
Seeing Percival indeed rolling away, everyone couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
Percival’s face burned red, and he felt like dying. But intimidated by Leo’s methods, he struggled to reach the doorway, quickly got up, and ran away like a rabbit.
Rosemary finally suppressed her laughter and worriedly said, “Leo, a person like him will surely find a way to retaliate after being treated like this.”
“It’s alright. A small fry like him can be easily squashed by me.” Leo replied nonchalantly.
After leaving Leo & Rose Cosmetics, Leo headed straight for the Seven Stars Sword Sect. Regardless, he couldn’t neglect his cultivation.
In the evening of the next day, Chasel suddenly called.
“Mr. Bloomer, can you come to the clinic now? Miss Meredith has arrived,” Chasel said directly.
“Miss Meredith?” Leo paused for a moment, then realized it was Marina. “Why is she coming to the clinic so late?”
“I don’t know. She said she’s looking for you. Can you come back?” Chasel asked.
“Alright, let her wait. I’ll be there in an hour,” Leo said and hung up the phone.
At the same time, Leo felt a bit puzzled. Marina had already returned to the capital, so why did she suddenly appear in Langstel and come specifically to find him?
Could something have happened?
Since Marina had given Leo the Golden Dragon Silver Needle, they hadn’t met or had much contact. Leo knew very little about Marina.
After arriving at the clinic, Leo noticed a black commercial van parked outside, with a driver-like person standing beside it, smoking a cigarette.
Upon entering the clinic, Leo saw Marina and her maid Sandra sitting in the reception area, accompanied by Chasel.
“Dr. Bloomer!” Marina’s face brightened when she saw Leo and quickly stood up.
“Miss Meredith, why are you coming to the clinic at this late hour?” Leo asked.
“Dr. Bloomer, I have nowhere else to go, so I came to seek refuge with you. I hope you can accommodate me for a while,” Marina said, her slender and delicate eyebrows slightly furrowing, pleading.
“Miss Meredith, did something happen to you?” Leo asked, puzzled.
Before Marina could respond, Leo’s phone suddenly rang. It was a call from Baldwin.
“You must not tell him I’m here,” Marina hurriedly pleaded.
Leo was slightly taken aback. Marina’s request caught him off guard.
As far as Leo knew, Baldwin doted on his sister, so he couldn’t understand why Marina was so nervous upon receiving a call from him.
Nevertheless, Leo nodded and agreed. It was their family matter, and he didn’t want to pry.
Answering the call, Leo heard Baldwin’s anxious voice, “Leo, did my sister come to find you?”
“Isn’t your sister supposed to be at home? What happened? Is something wrong?” Leo asked in response.
“Don’t waste time. Just tell me if my sister came to find you,” Baldwin replied irritably.
“What do you think, Mr. Meredith? Do you think your sister would come to find me?” Leo countered.
“Well, there’s no way my sister would come to find you!” Baldwin said disdainfully before hanging up the phone.
“…” Leo was left speechless.
“Thank you, Dr. Bloomer,” Marina expressed her gratitude.
“Miss Meredith, what’s going on with you? Did you come straight from the capital?” Leo asked with concern.
“Um, can someone pay the fare?” the driver who had been smoking outside poked his head in and asked.
Marina blushed slightly, feeling embarrassed, and whispered, “I’m sorry, Dr. Bloomer. We didn’t bring any money when we came out. Could you please pay the fare for us?”
Leo smiled, took out money to pay the driver, and after the driver left, he chuckled and said to Marina, “You didn’t even bring money? Did you escape from somewhere?”
“Mmm,” Marina nodded unexpectedly.
“Escape?” Even Chasel was surprised. “Why would you escape when everything was fine?”
“Her father was forcing her to marry someone she doesn’t love,” Sandra spoke up for Marina when she hesitated to explain.
Runaway marriage?
Leo was slightly taken aback and finally understood why Marina didn’t want him to answer Baldwin’s call.
“I don’t like that person, so I ran away,” Marina lowered her head and bit her lip. “I didn’t know who else to turn to, but I suddenly thought of you, Dr. Bloomer, so I came to Langstel…”
“Dr. Bloomer, please let me and Miss Meredith stay with you for a while,” Sandra said urgently.
Before Leo could respond, Chasel quickly pulled him aside and whispered, “Mr. Bloomer, you can’t accommodate them. It’s inviting trouble.”
“Inviting trouble? Isn’t that exaggerated?” Leo asked, puzzled.
“Why is it exaggerated? Think about it, the Meredith family is a prominent family in the capital. The person she was supposed to marry into must be no ordinary individual. If you shelter Miss Meredith, it’s equivalent to offending two prominent families in the capital,” Chasel explained.
After speaking, Chasel added, “You really need to think carefully before acting.”
Leo understood what Chasel was getting at, but he didn’t care in the slightest.
He had already offended the Koken family and the werewolf clan, let alone prominent families in the capital.
“Chasel, why did we open this clinic in the first place?” Leo suddenly asked.
Chasel was taken aback and answered, “To help the people in need, of course.”
“If it’s to help the people in need, then I should help her. If she is captured by the Meredith family and forced to marry someone she doesn’t love, wouldn’t it be ruining her life?”
