He had indeed given him a way out. According to the employer’s request, he wanted Leo to suffer for forty-nine days, until his family was ruined and destroyed.
“Well, thank you so much,” Leo pretended to be grateful. “But, I have one thing that I don’t understand. We haven’t met before, have we? Why do you want to harm me?”
“I have no grievances or grudges against you of course. As for why I want to harm you, it’s simple – someone paid a lot of money for your life!” The beggar spoke in a deep voice.
“Can you reveal who wants my life? That way even if I leave, at least I won’t be confused,” Leo sighed with disappointment.
“It’s…” The beggar was about to say who was behind it all when suddenly he became alert. “Who did you offend? Don’t you know?”
The beggar secretly congratulated himself on his quick reaction; otherwise he would’ve spilled the beans about the employer – how could he easily reveal that information?
“I offended quite a few people and really don’t know; hoping you can enlighten me.”
“You better go back and think about it yourself. You have three days left to change your name and disappear from Langstel forever without leaving any trace behind; otherwise don’t blame me for being impolite.” The beggar spoke coldly.
“I also give you three minutes to tell me who is behind this or else things will get very ugly for you.”
Seeing that he couldn’t extract any information from the beggar, Leo who had been obediently nodding his head suddenly changed his expression as a cold smile appeared on his lips while speaking in an intimidating tone.
“Looking for death!” The beggar’s face twisted into an evil grin as he immediately took out two yellow talismans from his pocket and waved them in mid-air.
Two talisman papers shot towards Leo like bullets, but in mid-air, they suddenly transformed into two blazing fireballs, rushing towards Leo.
If hit by the fireballs, his face would undoubtedly be disfigured, but Leo stood still, showing no intention of dodging.
The beggar sneered, “Kid, you’re seeking death on your own accord, don’t blame me.”
As the two fireballs were about to hit Leo’s face, Leo waved his hand lightly, and the fireballs instantly disappeared.
The beggar’s expression changed, and he exclaimed, “You’ve got some skills!”
“You’re just too weak,” Leo said calmly.
The beggar gritted his teeth and pulled out another talisman paper from his pocket. He muttered a few words under his breath, then bit his finger, smearing the fresh blood onto the paper. With a push of his foot, he shot forward, flying towards Leo at high speed.
In the blink of an eye, the beggar reached Leo, and the talisman paper in his hand viciously pressed against Leo.
But in the next second, the beggar’s face suddenly changed. The Leo in front of him had vanished!
“Too slow,” a voice suddenly sounded behind the beggar.
The beggar swiftly turned around and found Leo standing behind him!
The beggar’s face turned pale, and in a panic, he pressed the talisman paper against Leo’s chest. However, Leo extended his hand and grabbed the beggar’s arm, folding it forcefully and making the talisman paper stick to the beggar’s own chest.
The beggar’s face went white, and he immediately chanted a spell. The talisman paper in his hand ignited and turned into nothingness.
The beggar was covered in cold sweat, his mind still reeling. If the talisman paper had stuck to his own chest, it would have left a fist-sized hole filled with blood.
While the beggar was secretly relieved, he suddenly felt a tremendous pain in his abdomen, as if he had been struck by an iron hammer. His body flew backward and landed on the ground with a thud, kneeling in pain.
With his head pressed against the ground, the beggar clutched his stomach tightly, his face contorted in agony, feeling as if his intestines were about to rupture.
“Speak up, the three minutes are up,” Leo said with a smile.
“I’ll talk, but you have to promise to spare me after I reveal everything,” the beggar gritted his teeth, enduring the pain.
The beggar, relying on his skills in occult arts, had been dominating society, with others respecting and fearing him. He had never bowed his head to anyone before.
But today, in front of Leo, he felt like a helpless child, utterly miserable.
With the help of esoteric arts, his abilities had surpassed those of ordinary people several times over, yet Leo’s speed was several times faster than his own!
He had never seen anyone move so swiftly, to the point of being inhuman!
“I promise, we had no grudges to begin with!” Leo nodded.
“It was the William family who paid me to deal with you.”
“The William family? Be more specific.”
The beggar gritted his teeth and said, “It was Antony!”
Leo nodded and said coldly, “Alright, you can go now. If you dare to cause trouble again, I’ll take your life!”
The beggar, enduring the pain, got up from the ground, glanced fearfully at Leo, and then quickly fled.
“Antony, it seems I’ve been too merciful by sparing you from becoming a eunuch…” Leo whispered to himself, making up his mind.
At nine o’clock in the evening, Leo drove to the Imperial Grandeur Club.
Ascending to the third floor, as he passed through a corridor, suddenly, a person emerged from the corner and bumped into Leo.
“What the hell, are you blind!?” the person cursed aloud.
Soon, several young men appeared behind the foul-mouthed person.
“Don’t you have eyes when you walk? You bumped into Mr. Spencer! Quickly kneel down and apologize!”
“I recognized who he was. He’s the biggest joke of Langstel, the useless son-in-law of the second-rate Henley family, Leo!”
“Leo, why aren’t you mooching off your mother-in-law? What are you doing at the Imperial Grandeur Club?”
“Haven’t you read the latest urban entertainment newspaper? This mooching king has already divorced Sophia and can’t mooch off anyone anymore!”
The young men looked at Leo with disdain, hurling various offensive words at him.
Leo simply looked coldly at the guy who bumped into him.
“Leo, do you remember me?” The guy who bumped into Leo arrogantly dug his nose and made a gesture of flicking boogers at Leo.
“Is your right hand healed?” Leo asked abruptly.
The person in front of him was none other than Mateo, who backed out of the wedding with Bethany during the last wedding Jessica attended.
Because of Mateo’s lustful intentions towards Sophia, Leo had stabbed Mateo’s right hand with a broken piece of a wooden table leg.
At this moment, there was a clearly visible wound on the back of Mateo’s right hand.
Whenever his right hand was mentioned, Mateo became furious.
They say time heals all wounds, but coupled with the fact that there were many people around him now, he wasn’t afraid of Leo at all.
Not only that, Mateo naively believed that today was his lucky day, running into Leo and giving him a chance for revenge.
“Brothers, a useless freeloading dog dares to boast in front of me. What do you think we should do?” Mateo turned to his companions, asking them with a serious tone.
His companions responded in unison, “Mr. Spencer, take him down!”
With the support of his buddies, Mateo became even more arrogant, looking at Leo with disdain. “Leo, I came to the Imperial Grandeur Club today to have a good time. I don’t want a useless person like you to ruin my mood.”
