Shiloh stood up from behind the examination table and pointed at Leo. “He is not only Mr. Bloomer of Nameless Clinic, but also a specially appointed teacher at Traditional Medicine University.”
Curtis broke out in a cold sweat and cursed himself internally.
“Dr. Bloomer, I’m sorry I didn’t know it was you. Please forgive me for any offense caused,” Curtis quickly changed his tone to one of flattery, “I was deceived by the antique shop owner, but I’ll definitely buy a genuine one for you as compensation.”
Leo’s voice remained cold as he said, “You insulted Ms. Calder and her mother. Do you deserve to be beaten?”
“Yes! Yes!” Curtis immediately turned to Willow and said with pleading eyes, “Willow, I made a mistake. You’re an educated person; please don’t lower yourself to my level. Help me say something good about Dr. Bloomer so that he can treat your grandfather.”
“Grandfather? I’ve never had a grandfather or been treated like his granddaughter since childhood,” Willow felt like crying when she saw Curtis’ humble expression.
For years now, the Calder family had always treated her as an outsider with condescension without showing any concern towards her.
“Willow, things aren’t what you think they are; your grandfather actually likes you very much,” Curtis forced out a smile through gritted teeth while looking at Leo again with flattery in his eyes, “Mr. Bloomer, since you’re friends with Willow here, could you help treat my father?”
Leo sat down calmly and said, “I can treat your father if Ms. Calder agrees.”
It was clear that Leo would only help if Willow asked him to do so.
Curtis felt bitter inside but could only turn back towards Willow again, “Willow, please ask Mr. Bloomer for help.”
“The Calder family’s affairs have nothing to do with me,” Willow remained indifferent despite knowing what kind of person Curtis was.
“Don’t say it like that! You are part of the Calder family bloodline which will never change no matter what happens,” Curtis offered conditions he thought would make sure she agreed, “As long as Mr. Bloomer helps cure your grandpa’s illness, then I promise that you will be able to return back into the family.”
Willow sneered, “I’d rather sleep in a bridge than go back to that filthy place, the Calder family.”
Thinking about her and her mother’s experiences and the ugly faces of the Calder family, Willow felt nothing but disgust deep within.
“Willow, what do you want me to do to save your grandpa?” Curtis was frustrated by Willow’s stubbornness and asked through gritted teeth.
Willow wanted to refuse directly but remembered her mother’s regret before she passed away. She held back the words that were on the tip of her tongue.
She knew that what mattered most to her late mother was clearing up the malicious rumors spread by the Calder family about her.
After hesitating for a moment, Willow spoke coldly, “You make Reuben and his mistress bow down in front of my mother’s memorial tablet and apologize. Then clear my mother’s name. Only then will I ask Mr. Bloomer for help with curing that old man.”
“This…” Curtis looked troubled as he didn’t know how to answer immediately.
He knew his brother Reuben well enough not to expect him bowing down or apologizing anytime soon.
Moreover, Reuben’s wife was like a shrewd fighter jet; it would be impossible for them both even if they tried their best!
“Willow, this condition is too difficult for me,” said Curtis with an apologetic expression on his face. “Can’t you change it?”
“If you can’t fulfill it yourself,” replied Willow coldly, “then beg Mr. Bloomer yourself.”
Curtis felt helpless; he never expected Willow would be so unyielding!
At this point in time though there wasn’t any turning back from this situation; biting his teeth together tightly, he pulled out a bank card from his pocket handing it over towards Leo, “Mr. Bloomer, there are two million dollars inside this card as medical expenses…”
Leo cut him off mid-sentence saying impatiently, “Do I look like someone who needs money?”
Curtis took out another bank card from himself saying, “Five million!”
“Even if you gave me 100 million dollars, I wouldn’t treat him,” Leo said impatiently again.
Curtis couldn’t take it anymore; all of his suppressed emotions exploded outwards at once, “Fine! Leo! You’re so shameless even when given face! Langstel has more than one medicine practitioner anyway. If you don’t cure him, then I’ll find someone else who will!”
If not forced by big brother Reuben into coming here today, he wouldn’t have suffered such humiliation at all!
Willow, that deadbeat, got what she deserved when she was kicked out of the Calder family. And to think she had the nerve to expect my brother and sister-in-law to apologize to her – what a delusional idiot.
To Curtis, five million dollars could easily buy a much better doctor than Leo.
He took back his credit card and retrieved the fake jade Maitreya from the examination table before turning to Brayan with a stern expression. “Brayan, let’s go! I don’t believe we can’t find a famous doctor with money. This Nameless Clinic is garbage. Let’s get out of here!”
After venting their anger, Curtis and Brayan quickly left because they were still afraid that Leo might slap them again.
On their way back home in the car, Curtis was still fuming and cursing, “If it weren’t for my Dad, I wouldn’t have taken this crap! I would have slapped him across his face!”
His facial expressions were too exaggerated while he spoke which caused pain from being slapped earlier on top of it all; he quickly covered his face with his hand.
Suddenly his phone rang; it was Reuben calling.
“Brother, did you go to the Nameless Clinic? Did you see Mr. Bloomer?” Reuben asked directly over the phone.
Curtis wanted to tell him about what happened earlier but thought better of it and instead replied vaguely, “Don’t worry Reuben. I just arrived at the Clinic.”
Curtis had made up his mind to go to the Healnature Clinic and seek Dr. Rudolph’s help.
Curtis believed that Dr. Rudolph, who had a good reputation, would definitely be able to cure their father’s illness.
“Brother, time waits for no one. Hurry up over there, we can’t delay Dad’s condition.”
“Before I asked you to go to the Nameless Clinic, I had someone inquire at the Healnature Clinic about Dr. Rudolph. His response was clear: only the Nine Extreme Mystical Needles can cure Dad’s illness, and the doctor who knows the Nine Extreme Mystical Needles is Mr. Bloomer from the Nameless Clinic.”
At the end of his words, Reuben’s tone was filled with anticipation. Whether their father could be cured was crucial to the future of the Calder family.
“What?!”
Reuben’s words made Curtis’s heart skip a beat, and he quickly asked, “Brother, is it true that Dr. Rudolph from the Healnature Clinic can’t cure Dad?”
“Yes, I have already explained the details of Dad’s condition to Dr. Rudolph, and he cannot provide a cure. So if we want to save Dad, our only hope lies with Mr. Bloomer.”
