Upon hearing Curtis’ words, Willow was somewhat surprised. At first, she thought it was just a coincidence that she ran into him.
“You’re looking for me?” Willow stopped in her tracks and turned around to give Curtis a cold look, seeming somewhat incredulous.
“Yeah, I’m looking for you,” Curtis said with a smile. “I’m here to bring compensation from the family. Here’s a card with one million dollars on it. Take it.”
Willow glanced at the bank card in Curtis’ hand and sarcastically replied, “When did the family become so generous? One million dollars is quite a sum of money. Can it buy all the suffering my mother and I have endured over the years?”
“I don’t know if you think we’re cheap or if you are just naturally cheap yourselves!”
Curtis frowned at Willow’s words and felt displeased.
In fact, he had already anticipated that dealing with Willow would be difficult before he came here today but he didn’t expect her to be this difficult.
He rolled his eyes then pretended to sigh sadly as he said softly, “Actually… your grandfather has been missing you very much lately and has been blaming himself for what happened back then.”
“So he sent me over here to invite you back into the family because he misses you too much. He’s even fallen ill because of how much pain this has caused him… It’s really tragic…”
Curtis spoke as though even himself could not help but feel moved by his own words but little did he know that instead of being touched by them, Willow burst out laughing as if she had heard something incredibly funny.
“That might work on three-year-olds but unfortunately, when I left home, I was already older than three! I know how my grandfather treated my mother and myself! He is an inhumane person! How dare you say that he would miss me?!”
Willow sneered mockingly at Curtis who looked taken aback by her reaction.
When Willow left the family years ago, she was already seven or eight years old; being an early bloomer made her more mature than most children her age, which also meant that she remembered more things than others did too.
She could never forget how her grandfather drove them out while pointing at her mother calling her names like ‘whore’. That face of his was filled with extreme malice which made it one of the most terrifying faces under heaven.
“Willow ah… I am not lying to you,” said Curtis hurriedly after regaining his composure slightly. “If you don’t believe me, go ask Brayan yourself; your grandpa really misses you so badly that it made him sick.”
Brayan immediately nodded and said, “Yes, Miss, Mr. Calder is really sick and it’s serious. He has been mentioning you lately and wants to see you…”
“Okay, enough with the lies. What do you want from me?” Willow interrupted Brayan coldly.
They both knew that they were just beating around the bush and Willow didn’t believe that the old man from the Calder family actually wanted to see her.
“There’s nothing else. We just want to bring you back to the family so that you can see your grandfather for one last time,” Curtis said with a sigh in between his words. His eyes turned red in an instant and he was impressed by his own acting skills.
If he ever pursued a career in acting, he might even win an Oscar.
“Of course, it would be even better if you could bring Leo from your school along with you to visit your grandfather,” Curtis added as he finally revealed his true intentions.
Although the business of the Calder family was not small in Giaport, their partners were limited to only two or three people in Langstel who didn’t even know Leo according to Curtis’ inquiries.
After much investigation, they found out that Leo was teaching at Langstel Traditional Medicine University while Willow worked there too and they had a good relationship outside of work as well.
Therefore, Curtis had set his sights on Willow hoping she could persuade Leo into going back with her to Giaport for her grandfather’s treatment.
With Willow’s intelligence, how could she not understand Curtis’s intentions? She sneered and said, “Oh, so you’re here to plead for Leo. It seems the old folk of the family doesn’t have many days left to live.”
Willow had always been kind to others and never used hurtful words, but when it came to the heartless scum of the Calder family, she felt that no words could be too malicious.
“How dare you speak like that! You’re being blasphemous! You’ll be struck by divine punishment!” Curtis shouted angrily.
“Yes, I am being blasphemous! If there is a just god, then he should strike the Calder family!” Willow coldly retorted before ignoring Curtis and walking away.
“Willow, Willow, listen to me, I treat you well… sort of… not bad… well, at least not bad to you, right?” Curtis hurriedly caught up with her.
“If you keep following me, I’ll call for help!” Willow glanced at him and loudly declared, “Catch the pervert! He’s molesting me!”
“You… this…” Curtis quickly took a step back, scared. After all, this wasn’t Giaport, and he couldn’t be too audacious. If he were really caught with the charge of harassment, it would be troublesome.
Watching Willow go further away, Curtis spat on the ground in disgust and muttered, “What a piece of trash, not knowing shame. Just like your damn mother, a worthless whore!”
“Mr. Calder, if she doesn’t help, this matter will be difficult. It seems like Leo doesn’t easily take appointments,” Brayan said helplessly.
“I don’t believe it. Even without her, I can handle it!” Curtis said hatefully. “He won’t take appointments? I’ll throw money at him until he does! Is there anyone in this world who doesn’t love money!?”
After leaving the residential area, Willow felt a heavy burden in her heart, suffocating her. Painful memories from the past kept flooding back, tearing her apart.
If she hadn’t been kicked out of the Calder family, her mother wouldn’t have died so soon.
The rest of her life would be devoid of her mother’s companionship.
She swore an irreconcilable hatred towards the Calder family!

Refong Group headquarters, a twenty-story building.
Even though it was already 9 PM, the entire building was still brightly lit.
“Ah, since joining this company, the salary may be higher, but the overtime is excessive.”
“Yeah, those Orientia foreigners don’t treat us like human beings. It’s been two weeks since I had dinner with my daughter.”
“Just accept it. That’s how it is with companies from Orientia-endless overtime. Besides, some people can’t even get in. If they don’t work overtime, they’ll be fired.”
Complaints from white-collar workers echoed in the office area.
“Ah, I wish there would be a power outage!”
“I wish too, but it’s impossible. In this city, the power never goes out all year round…”
Click!
Just then, the entire building suddenly plunged into darkness.
“Wow, the power actually went out!”
The whole building fell silent for a moment before erupting into a strong cheer.
With the power outage, they couldn’t possibly continue working overtime.
“Hmph, a bunch of lazy pigs!”
On the 18th floor, in the CEO’s office cubicle, a man of Orientian descent with a small tuft of black beard under his nose shifted his gaze away from the tablet on the side. He snorted disdainfully.
At that moment, he was lying on top of a woman, engaged in an indescribable act.
