Chapter 954 Ass in the Lion’s Skin

Book:The All-powerful Son-In-Law Published:2024-6-3

“Listen carefully, I want you to kill Leo!”
“Ah? Miss Koken, this…” Jessica hesitated, not knowing how to respond.
Maniwa’s eyes flashed with a cold light. “What? Are you unwilling or do you want to defy my orders?”
“No, Miss Koken, I can’t even defeat Leo, let alone kill him.”
Jessica had been taught a lesson by Leo, so she knew how skilled he was. Moreover, now that Leo had divorced Sophia, there was no chance to make a move. She might even end up being killed herself.
“I don’t care about the process, I only want the result. Whatever method you think of, I just want to see Leo dead!” Maniwa’s tone turned cold. “Of course, you can refuse, and I can turn you into a lifeless corpse right now.”
“Miss Koken, I promise you, I will definitely kill that freeloader!” Fearful of death, Jessica quickly agreed.
“You have one month at most. If Leo is still alive after one month, then you can go and die. Now go!”
Jessica quickly got up from the ground and hurriedly left as if escaping for her life.
It wasn’t until she entered the elevator that Jessica’s heart finally settled down, and she couldn’t help wiping the cold sweat from her forehead.
Jessica felt frustrated and uncomfortable. The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. If it weren’t for that worthless Leo, that Orientia woman wouldn’t have caused trouble for her!
After the anger subsided, Jessica began to ponder in her mind how to kill Leo.
The situation was clear now. If Leo didn’t die, that dreadful Orientia woman would kill Jessica.
In the room, Yuriko couldn’t help but ask, “Miss Koken, do you really believe that woman can kill Leo?”
Maniwa’s face revealed a deep and inscrutable expression as she replied with a question, “Yuriko, do you know how to play Go?”
“Yes,” Yuriko replied.
“Well, then you should know that a seemingly insignificant chess piece can sometimes have a great impact,” Maniwa said, implying something.
Yuriko nodded as if she had understood something.

Golden Leaf Shopping Plaza, Ginger Building, second floor, Sophia Cosmetics, the office of the general manager.
Since divorcing Leo, Sophia had devoted all her energy to work.
“Ms. Henley, the general manager is not in the office. Please come another day…”
Outside the office, the voice of the secretary, Rylee Osborne, could be heard. Then a woman broke through Rylee’s obstruction and swaggered into the office.
When Fanny saw Sophia in the office, she glared at Rylee and said angrily, “You servant, you dared to deceive me. I see you don’t want to work here anymore!”
Secretary Rylee looked embarrassed and sought help with her eyes, looking towards Sophia.
“Rylee, please leave first,” Sophia signaled Rylee with her eyes.
Rylee agreed and exited the office.
“Fanny, did you take the wrong medicine? You came to my company causing a scene?” Sophia had no good feelings towards Fanny, who grew up with Bruno.
Fanny crossed her arms and coldly said, “Sophia, put away your act in front of me! Also, please make it clear that the company you manage is just a subsidiary of the Henley’s Corp!”
“So what if it’s a subsidiary? Sophia Cosmetics operates independently, responsible for its own profits and losses. You have no right to come here and lecture me!” Sophia retorted, not backing down.
Fanny walked a few steps in the office, looking around, and then leisurely said, “I came here today to tell you something. After unanimous discussion at the board of directors, I have been promoted to the vice-chairman of the Henley’s Corp!”
“Vice-chairman?” Sophia’s mouth curved with a mocking smile.
“That’s right. From now on, besides Bruno, I am the boss in the Henley’s Corp!”
Fanny acted as if she held all the power.
“The responsibilities of a vice-chairman, I guess you’re not clear about them. I came here specifically to explain to you. Listen carefully,” Fanny raised her voice, “My responsibility is to inspect all the subsidiaries under the Henley’s Corp, supervise their operations according to the requirements of the group company, and ensure the normal operation of the subsidiaries.”
“Fanny, let me reiterate. Grandfather laid down the rule when he was alive that Sophia Cosmetics operates independently and is not subject to the control of the group company. So, don’t use the title of vice-chairman to suppress me!” Sophia scoffed.
Fanny sneered, “Sophia, oh Sophia, it’s been so many years since grandfather passed away, and you still hold on to that outdated rule? Let me tell you, things have changed. The Henley’s Corp is evolving, and it’s time you adapt to the new reality.”
“Fanny, stop talking nonsense and get out of here!” Sophia didn’t want to waste any more words and ordered her to leave.
Fanny stood with her hands on her hips, looking like she was daring Sophia to do something. “Sophia, Leo that useless dog has already divorced you. No one can support you anymore. Do you believe me when I say I can make you roll off your position as general manager?”
“I really don’t believe that,” Sophia said coldly, looking at Fanny’s bluff.
In fact, Fanny didn’t dare do anything to Sophia. She changed her tone and said, “Sophia, I’m not here today to argue with you. As the vice chairman of the board of directors, I have to warn you that if I find any illegal activities in Sophia Cosmetics, there will be no mercy!”
“Are you done talking? If so then hurry up and leave before I call security to throw you out!”
Fanny pointed a finger at Sophia angrily and threatened, “Your good days are numbered soon enough. When that time comes, hope that your pride won’t make it hard for yourself.”
After leaving behind those harsh words, Fanny stormed out of the office.
Rylee walked in from outside apologetically saying, “Sorry, Sophia, I couldn’t stop her.”
“It’s not your fault; she is just a petty person who thinks highly of herself.” As for Fanny’s threat, Sophie didn’t take it seriously.
At 6:30 pm, Sophie dragged herself back home exhausted. Jessica sat on the living room sofa with a complicated expression on her face-fearful, jumbled, and bewildered. When she heard the sound of opening door, she turned around and saw Sophie walking in from outside.
The complicated expression disappeared, replaced by an unreal smile. Jessica stood up from the sofa, welcoming Sophie over.
“Mom, I don’t want dinner tonight.” Saying this, Sophie prepared herself upstairs for rest.
“Wait.” Jessica quickly grabbed Sophie’s hand, wearing a concerned look, “My dear daughter, you’ve lost weight, and look haggard. I feel sorry for what happened. What is bothering you?”
Jessica’s unusual behavior made Sophie show an astonished expression on her face.
