“Let’s have some food then” Mr. Gold said.
I got off the couch as everyone else did. We went to the dining table. The dining table was so large on itself. It was large candles in between table along with the small flower pots. It look like I have been in some royal palace. Mr. Gold sat on the middle one of the table at a side,
Liam sat at his right side and Frank was getting the food from the kitchen. I was standing there clueless when Mr. Gold hold my hand. I look at the hand tingling with his touch. He take my hand and led me to next seat at his left. He pulled the chair back and gestured me to sit there, it… it felt like I was some princess. I went in and sat at the chair and he went back to his seat.
Frank smilingly filled our plate with lots of dishes. Even though we were just four to eat there, there were more than ten types of dishes on the dining table. Appetizer and sweet dish for after food was also there. Was it the daily food routine for Mr. Gold? It was so… lavish… I wonder why would he want to stay beside my house when he had this big villa for himself. Why did he asked me to be his chef when he had such a chef who make this much of food for him daily? I used to make three or four items at the most. I lowered my head as I dig into the food.
Woah….. the food was so delicious. I looked at Frank and gave him a thumbs up. He smiled and nodded at me. i felt a burning gaze at me, I looked aside only to find Mr. Gold looking at me or rather staring at me. I felt akward so, I lowered my head and focused on the food instead.
“I think there is something with the western lake project, I need you tomorrow.” Liam said.
“Come to my study after the dinner, eat for now” Mr. Gold said to Liam.
He nodded and then we all eat our food in silence. As I was eating a piece of meat came and dropped in my plate, it was fish meat and the thorn was peeled out. I looked up to see Mr. Gold smiling at me. I felt a warm tickle through my whole body. I lowered my head with my cheeks blushing hot.
After the dinner, Mr. Gold asked Frank to make me some hot water and he went to the study followed by Liam closely behind. I felt a bit uneasy in my heart. I don’t know if it was fear overwhelming me or something else. But I felt a knot at my heart that twitched and twitched. I was looking at him and wishing for him to be by my side and somehow not left me alone. I clutched my hand tightly as I hope for something to happen that was almost impossible.
I lowered my head as I sat on the couch, suddenly a voice come from behind that keep me startled. “Come here” It was Mr. Gold’s , I looked back and he was looking at me. I pointed at myself and he nodded “Come with me” . I smiled and ran to him without much thought.
I reached the first step of the stairs and he reached out his hands for me. I gave my hand in his hand and looked at him. I felt so nice as if he was the only person I could trust, as if he was the safest spot for me. somehow in between my fears and panic, he was a place where I felt safe and calmed. And I was certain that I don’t want to leave him not now, not ever…
He pulled my hand and I came back to my senses. I looked at him and he was smiling at me. As i stand by his side, he looked to Frank “Get the hot water at the study. We will be there”
I looked at Frank and he was so polite. Mr. Gold led to the study. We entered the study and I was amazed to see such a huge room filled with files and books all over there. The room had a small table just as it was at his office back at the company. He asked me to sit on the couch while he went to the desk along with Liam and discussed about the project. I sat there looking around and all I could hear was some words like White family, take the workers in hand and all. I don’t know if it was only my over thinking or what but I felt like they were speaking in a small voice than usual.
In a while there was a knock at the door. “Mr. Gold, water…”It was Frank. Mr Gold nodded as he came inside. He handed me the water and walked outside. I took the water in hand and sat there. I had no intention of drinking the water because I really don’t like hot water. I felt as if it smells.
I was staring at when I felt someone right beside me. I look up to see that Mr. Gold was right in front of me. He was staring right at my hand. I looked at the water in my hand that I hadn’t drink at all and then looked up to him as I smiled weakly at him.
He took the water from my hand and sat beside me. “Drink it first” he put the cup of water in my mouth. I shook my head backing a little.
“it smells… I don’t like it” I said.
“Don’t behave as if you are a child. You know what us good for you don’t you? ” he scolded a bit.
I looked at him with tear welling eyes. It was not I was a kid or I was weak but my eyes got wet as soon as he made his tone a bit high. His eyes frowned as he looked at me. He caressed my hair softly as he said “I don’t mean to scare you OK? It’s all right. Just drink a little bit of water ” he again ger the water near to me. This time I didn’t refuse because I was afraid that he might make his tone high again.
I closed my eyes and sipped a bit of water. It was still smelly but I couldn’t say no to him. I gulped a bit and pushed it away with my hands.
“Do you want to go to bed? Are you sleepy? ” he asked me.
“I’m just bored” I said as I shook my head.
“Read books then, there is a big library next door” he said and he stopped. He looked at me and smiled weakly before saying “It’s okay, go there later.”he got off the couch and went to the table next to him. He opened a drawer and took out a book from there “Read this for now.” he passed me a book and went back to the his table.
I looked at the book and it seems to be a romance themed book. It had a cover with a beautiful girl and a guy in the cover. I looked at him and I felt a kind of tikle as I read the book’s name.
I started to study the book. It started on the snow with a girl… The book was so interesting as I read further. I loved the book so much that i forgot to look for the time . It keep me so into it that I really forgot where I was or what I was feeling a while ago.
I get back to reality as soon as someone patted on my shoulder. I looked up a bit scared. I felt relieved and soon as I saw it was Mr. Gold. He smiled at me.
“Let’s go to bed.” he said gently.
“Ok” I closed the book and got up. I looked around but didn’t see Liam at all. I was a bit confused when he spoke again “He is gone already. It’s been ten minutes he left the room ” he said.
Woah, ten minutes? Was i so much engrossed in the book? I thought to myself.
“Don’t think too much, let’s go to bed already.” He messes up my hair once again.. He really seems to like to mess up my hair Huh?
I put the book in my hands and walked along with him to the bedroom. He saw me carrying the book but he didn’t said anything.
