“The offer? What about that? ” I acted innocent.
“I want to work with you. ” she said finally. I had done so much to hear this. And it was so meant to be happen. She was looking at me with a furrowed eyes.
“You have no choice ” I smirked and said to her. She seemed to be annoyed as her brows furrowed even more. But she composed herself.
“No but I have three conditions” she said as she gestured three from her fingers barely holding her little finger with her thumb preventing the fingers being four from three.
Now she was playing smart Huh…
“Conditions? why do I need to listen?”
“You will. ” she said so confidently as if she was the one who controls me. Well let’s listen what she had in her mind.
“Go ahead. ”
“After working one month for you in the office and as cook. I no longer have to work as cook anymore. ” Oh no more food you make? That’s a bit loss.
“Another? ”
“If I want to continue or resign the work, it’ll be totally my choice. You won’t have anything to do with it. ” You might not leave the job because no one will ever hire you again and Ivan assure you that. And yeah you won’t get this much payment anywhere else.
“Another? ”
“You don’t know me and I don’t know you at working hours and you don’t live next to my house. ” Well that was not expected one. I mean everone likes popular and powerful ones. Don’t they? It is not a big deal. Why would I ever tell anyone that I live next to her.
“It’s getting cold. Eat fast. ” I pointed at the good on her hand.
“So do you agree? ” she asked me with eyes twinkling with hope.
She might turn 18in another month, so she’ll be with me untill she turn. And i need some more time that she can accept it or master her abilities. If not at least know what she is capable of and how to live with that fact. I need some more time for that. I can’t let lost my control as soon as she can turn. What if something like the past things happen when she’s not even ready?
I remember the attacks she had gone through. Those wolves at the bottom of the mountain that scary rogue at dark alley and that witches. No I can’t let her risk.
“You can’t leave immediately… If you want to resign, you have to said it before at least a month.”
May be one month will be enough. Anyway this is just plan B, In plan A she won’t leave me untill she’s fine with new power.
She nodded. Wow, that’s a easy pisy.
“But I want a written agreement. ” she said. She really don’t believe me hmm. Well I can do that.
I nodded and look back at my breakfast. I was filling my mouth non stop. I didn’t look at her as I ate. She was also eating. While we both finished, I took my plate as well as hers and take them to the sink .
She then left my appartment. I was too bored when Liam called me.
“Hello?? ”
“Hey sir, are you coming to work today? ” he asked.
“Yeah, I’m thinking so. ”
“Ohh ok then. I’ll get your schedule ready for today. I have lots of meetings pending here. You have a great demans in market. ” Liam said.
“Don’t make any appointments at my first hour. ”
“Why? Please don’t refuse, there are so many people that need to meet you and they are literally blowing off my head. ”
“Seems like you are not able to handle it anymore ?”
“No no. I’ll just do as you say. I’ll go and just make it and yeah I’ll keep what you said in mind .”
“well then I’ll think about your substitute later. ”
“I don’t think you’ll need to… Hehe… ”
“Beep beep beep…” that damn Liam really hung up on me hmm.
I had still few hours before the office time. So I opened my laptop and did some of the works pending.
I didn’t realize when it was already office hours. I quickly got in my custom made suit and walk out of my house.
I stopped at Riley’s door and tried to look inside. I tried to feel her through the mate bond and it didn’t work. There, it don’t seem like she was here, she must be on the way to office.
I went inside the elevator and called my driver to take the car out of the parking lot. When i reach at the ground, my car was already outside waiting for me. I quickly hopped inside the car and moved to the office.
On the way, I called Liam.
“Yes sir, I have your day planned as you wanted it. Do you have any more needs to change it? ”
“Riley, she’ll be visiting the office today. Receive her and ask to wait for me in my office. ”
“What? Who? ”
I hung up the phone and put it down on my bag. When i reached there, I was half an hour late. When I was passing by, every employee were bowing to me to show their gratitude. I nodded at them as I moved towards my office.
Riley’s pov
As I was moving in all the memories were flooding back. The most important thing that came in my head was Anyee. I haven’t heard from her in ages. And i haven’t called her too. And what about Rick? Ohh i was so stupid to not talking to them this long. When I’m here I’m realising that I missed them a lot.
I went in and I don’t know what to do after going in. Should I go to my old place or what? Should I ask the receptionist? I wonder if Mr. Gold have said anything to her because she’ll immediately notice me if there was any order. But she looked confused why I was here. Let it be… She might don’t know anything.
I then do the stupiditest thing ever. Instead of talking to the reception, I called Anyee.
It took some time before she finally picked up my call.
“Hello.. ”
“Hyy Anyee. ”
“You know that I’m still alive? ”
“..”
“You know it’s office hours. And some mean girls won’t be happy to see me talking. Let me go to washroom. OK? ”
As she said these, my mind was filled with images of me being bullied. Those works that I did which wasn’t even my duty, that spill of coffee as they tripped me down and those rude comments.
“You don’t need to. I’ll just come to you. ”
“Wait what? Are… You? Where are you? ”
“I’m at golden. At the reception area. ”
“You. Are you really here? You just wait then I’ll come there”
Beep. Beep. Beep….
She hung up the phone. I stares at tbw phone screen for a while before slipping it on the bag. Then I waited for her nervously.
She came running and panting and sweating in a while. We ran to me and hugged me with a big , tight bear hug. I hugged her back with the same warmth.
“I missed you. ” she said.
“Well I’ve never forgotten you. ”
“Why are you here? I’m pretty sure you aren’t here for me. Right? ” she asked not letting go off my hand.
“Ohh, let’s go to that office first. ”
“You mean finance branch ?” she asked and I nodded.
She hold my hand and take her with me.
“Won’t you tell me the reason you are here ” she asked.
“I got a job here. ” I make my answe as short as it can be.
“Job? What kind of? I mean, I never heard for some vacant post being announced. ” She seem to be bit surprised but how was I suppose to answer that. I don’t even know if he had gave me some good position or what.
“Let’s go to the place where we used to work. ”
“Are you working at finance? That will be more awesome. ” she exclaimed with happiness.
I nodded because I really don’t know what I was in. He knew I was at finance before, so he might have me work in that place. I thought in my head.
“Let’s go first. ” I said to her.
When i reached there, there were lots of people, boys and girls.
“No chair or table are added here Riley. If you are here then you might be substitute to someone. May be someone was going to be fired. ” Anyee said looking at the working place.
I also scanned the room and she was right. No more cause or table added.
