The woman didn’t seem to mind and smiled, “It’s because I’m poor. I just have to stay in a place like this temporarily. Don’t worry, handsome, I’m here for you.”
“I-I’m still scared,” Leo looked terrified. “I heard there are fox demons in the world that specialize in sucking people’s souls. The way they leave their victims is terrifying.”
Leo and the woman took a step back from each other as he worriedly asked her, “You’re not a fox demon, are you?”
The woman’s expression changed slightly as she giggled sweetly and said, “Oh handsome boy, you really know how to joke around. There are no demons in this world.”
“You never know,” Leo stared at her with certainty. “You’re so beautiful; you must be some kind of fairy or demon.”
Normally this would be considered flattery during casual conversation but now it made the woman feel uneasy – she was sensitive to danger.
She took two steps back cautiously while looking at him suspiciously and asked him sternly, “Who are you!?”
“Guess,” Leo grinned.
His words and expression caused the woman’s face to turn ugly instantly – her once rosy cheeks turned pale blue especially her eyes which had narrowed into slits like cat eyes while long nails grew on her fingers.
The woman raised her right hand, lightning-fast, grabbing towards Leo’s neck. Before her claws could reach, an evil energy surged towards him.
Leo had been wary of her sudden attack and quickly retreated when he saw her change in expression. After fortifying himself with Spiritual Power, her claw seemed ineffective against him.
Failing to land a hit, the woman’s expression softened. She brushed the bangs on her forehead and smirked, “I thought Cultivators had gone extinct in this world. Turns out there’s still one left. Since you’ve come to your death willingly, don’t blame me for being ruthless!”
“Don’t speak too soon; later on, you might be begging for mercy,” Leo replied fearlessly.
The woman, proudly displaying her chest, charmingly laughed, “I’m afraid you won’t want to then.”
Leo chuckled, “Once I defeat you, I’ll have no reason to spare you!”
Leo took out an Earth Fire Talisman and activated it. Fiery flames erupted around his fists, shining brightly in the night. The heatwave swept towards the woman.
“Oh, a Level Three Talisman right from the start. Impressive strength,” the woman cautiously stepped back two paces.
With Spiritual Power surging through him, Leo lunged at the girl, fists striking. Even before reaching her, two fireballs shot towards her like meteors.
Against such demonic creatures, Leo’s approach was to end the battle quickly.
The fireballs were about to hit the woman when, suddenly, she vanished. As if teleporting, she appeared behind Leo.
The fireballs missed, and Leo’s fists swung in empty air. Landing on the ground, he quickly turned around.
The woman folded her arms, tossed her bangs, and calmly said, “Handsome, your Talismans are powerful, but your speed is lacking. If you want to hit me, you might need two more years of practice.”
Seemingly toying with him, the woman taunted him. Leo, no longer underestimating her, sneered, “Is that so? Then take this Thunderbolt Talisman!”
Another Talisman was activated, and a lightning bolt streaked across the night sky, aiming at where the woman stood.
Leo anticipated her evasion. As the Talisman activated, Spiritual Power locked onto her, predicting any direction she might dodge.
To the left!
Leo charged, but as he threw a punch, he realized the woman had somehow moved to the right.
Clearly, Leo’s prepared strike missed again.
“Hahaha, you’re too slow, little guy,” the girl mockingly looked at him, with a cat-and-mouse expression.
Leo was annoyed; being taunted wasn’t pleasant. He shouted, “Purple Radiance!”
A purple light flashed in the night, startling the girl. With a quick movement, she disappeared from her original position.
Purple Radiance had locked onto her, like a guided missile, pursuing her relentlessly.
The woman, realizing she couldn’t escape, moved her lips slightly, and a layer of black energy instantly surged on the surface of her body, forming a protective barrier.
In the next moment, Purple Radiance pierced into the black energy.
A bizarre scene unfolded as Purple Radiance passed through the black energy in front of the woman’s chest and exited through the black energy behind her, seemingly not hitting anything.
Indeed, what Leo had anticipated didn’t happen.
Leo grew angry, maneuvering Purple Radiance to weave through the black energy constantly.
To his surprise, it seemed like the woman vanished within the black energy.
As Leo pondered how to unravel this, a white tail appeared from the humanoid black energy.
Simultaneously, as the tail appeared, Purple Radiance seemed to be impacted by some force. Leo’s heart shook, and he quickly retracted it.
As Leo looked at the white tail, his expression turned serious.
This woman was not just a fox demon; she was a formidable one, as the appearance of the white tail indicated she had consumed the souls of many.
To gauge the strength of a fox demon, a clear indicator was the tail.
As the black energy dissipated, the woman’s figure revealed itself. Now, a white tail swayed behind her, adding a mysterious and alluring beauty.
The fox demon looked at him indifferently, arrogantly saying, “Little guy, if you kneel down and beg, maybe I’ll consider sparing you.”
Leo smiled and replied, “Is that so? You’re thinking too much.” With that, flames ignited on his fists once again.
“Heh, you brought this upon yourself. With your meager cultivation, you won’t even know how you’ll die later. Since you’re so clueless, I’ll make you disappear from this world.” The fox demon spoke, and another tail appeared behind her.
“Terror Mist!” The fox demon shouted. With two white tails swaying, a crimson mist suddenly enveloped the courtyard.
As Leo observed the red mist surrounding him, he sensed something was amiss but didn’t know how to break free. He could only protect himself with Spiritual Power and watch the situation unfold.
“Leo!” A woman’s voice suddenly echoed in his ears.
Leo was stunned; it was… it was Sophia’s voice!
Suddenly, a vision of Sophia in office attire appeared before him, looking at him with a gentle expression, her eyes filled with concern.
An illusion, it was an illusion!
Leo threw a punch, flames trailing, towards Sophia.
The fist struck her face, and Sophia instantly disappeared.
Indeed, an illusion. Leo remained calm, but the surrounding red mist grew denser, and even the figure of the fox demon vanished within the mist.
