As Mila emerged from the bathroom, she saw a drunken man stumbling towards her.
A plan formed in her mind and a sly smile crept onto her face.
As she brushed past the man, Mila purposely bumped into him with her body. She then quickly changed expression and slapped him across the face, shouting angrily, “Why did you touch me?”
The man was too drunk to understand what had just happened. He looked up at Mila and saw that she was attractive and dressed provocatively. He smirked and said, “Hey beautiful, how about you spend tonight with me? Name your price.”
“Get lost! Apologize to me now or else I won’t let this go,” threatened Mila.
“I don’t apologize to anyone. I never apologize,” replied the man still smirking as he ignored Mila’s threat.
“You hit me earlier so you have to make it up to me tonight in bed!”
The man grabbed hold of Mila’s hand as he spoke these words.
Mila panicked at this point and quickly pulled away from him while shouting out loud, “Don’t touch me! I’m Derrick’s girlfriend! Do you know who he is?”
Mila’s plan was to give Derrick a chance to be her hero by showing him her vulnerable side which would trigger his protective instincts.
“Derrick? Who the hell is that? Never heard of him before. You hit me earlier so if you don’t spend time with me tonight, then we’re not done here,” shouted back the man unimpressed by what Mila had said about Derrick.
Leo happened upon them just then as he walked out of the bathroom. The guy in front of Mila looked familiar but Leo couldn’t quite place where they’d met before.
“What’s going on here?” asked Leo approaching them both.
Mila created this opportunity for Derrick but seeing Leo interfere made her coldly say, “It’s none of your business! Get lost!”
She didn’t notice that the drunken guy had sobered up enough now that he recognized Leo.
“It’s okay,” shrugged Leo indifferently before walking into the bathroom without another word.
The intoxicated man secretly breathed a sigh of relief. The reason for his nervousness was that he was one of Bob’s henchmen, having not only encountered Leo before but also being aware of the unique relationship between Bob and Leo.
He was afraid that the woman he had offended might be a friend of Leo’s. However, it seemed now that this woman had a conflict with Leo. Since that was the case, he couldn’t let her go.
“Beauty, if you don’t cooperate, don’t blame me for using force,” the man threatened.
“Bring it on. Just wait, I’ll have my boyfriend come and deal with you,” Mila replied fearlessly, showing no concern about the intoxicated man’s threats.
“Sure, call your boyfriend over,” the drunken man replied without any concern for Mila’s threat.
Mila called Derrick and told him she was being harassed by a thug.
Despite his ties to the the Dorothy family, Derrick reluctantly left the private room to see what was going on. When he saw the drunken man, he wanted to slap Mila for getting him into trouble again. Just a few days ago, Derrick’s father had met Bob and this henchman in person. He knew that if they crossed paths with Bob again, it wouldn’t end well for them.
Although the Baldwin family held some power in Langstel as merchants, they were no match for someone like Bob who operated in a gray area of business dealings. As of late, Bob had been making significant strides in Langstel’s underworld scene. That was why Derrick’s father invited him out to dinner recently – he wanted to establish good relations with Bob before it was too late.
“Derrick! This thug tried assaulting me! Please help me get revenge!” Mila pleaded desperately while trying her best to look vulnerable and helpless at the same time.
The drunkard recognized Derrick immediately and laughed mockingly, “So your boyfriend is Mr. Baldwin?”
“Hmph! It’s too late now; you better kneel down and apologize or else I won’t let you go!” Mila boasted triumphantly.
“What happened exactly?” asked Derrick sternly as he turned towards her direction.
The drunkard explained, “Your girlfriend slapped me out of nowhere then accused me of harassing her.”
“That’s nonsense! You’re lying through your teeth; it was actually you who harassed me first!” retorted an indignant Mila who began crying pitifully while clutching onto Derrick’s arm tightly. “Derrick, please help me get revenge on this shameless jerk who molested me earlier.”
Derrick shook off her grip coldly before saying, “She isn’t my girlfriend; today’s incident has nothing whatsoever do with me.”
Mila turned pale after hearing those words from him, “What do you mean? I’ve liked you all this time… Are you really that heartless?”
“Mila… you’re on your own now,” replied an indifferent Derek before adding firmly. “This guy is one of Bob’s men; call your dad right away so that he can handle this situation properly. Otherwise, things will turn out badly for you.”
Mila stood there stunned when she realized that she had just picked a fight with one of Bob’s henchmen.
Even her father would have to be polite to Bob, let alone Mila.
“Hey beautiful, did you forget to check your horoscope before leaving the house today?” The drunken man laughed.
Mila’s legs went weak and she regretted deeply how she had managed to get involved with someone connected to Bob.
It was said that those who married into a family for money would have bad luck. It seemed like it was true!
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it.” Mila quickly apologized.
The drunken man sneered at Mila and didn’t believe her apology at all.
Leo came out of the bathroom just then.
Mila saw him as a savior and grabbed his hand for help. “Leo, I know you’re on good terms with the Browne family. Please help me!”
“You told me to leave earlier, now you want my help?” Leo said coldly.
“I’m sorry, I was wrong.”
“I can’t help you.” Leo shook off Mila’s hand and walked towards the private room. Mila looked desperate, turned around, and knelt in front of the intoxicated man, pleading, “Please don’t hold it against me. I didn’t mean to. I can give you money…”
The intoxicated man sneered inwardly; offending Leo was not something that could be resolved with money. Without mercy, he grabbed Mila by the hair and pulled her back into his private room.
In the private room, Bob and Chasel were puzzled when they saw their subordinate dragging a woman in. They asked, “What are you doing?”
The intoxicated man threw Mila to the side and walked up to Bob, whispering a few words in his ear. Bob, now understanding the situation, stood up and walked over to Mila, saying, “Make a call to your dad, let him come and save you.”
In another private room, Renee, noticing that Mila hadn’t returned for a long time, couldn’t help but ask, “Where’s Mila? Where did she go?”
“Miss Browne, Mila offended someone associated with Bob,” Derrick replied succinctly.
“Offended someone associated with Bob? What did she do?” Renee was completely puzzled. How could someone offend a big shot from the gray area just by going to the restroom?
Derrick briefly explained the situation he knew to Renee.
“Derrick, she has put in a lot of effort for you. Are you not even a little moved?” Renee asked.
