I then took a towel and went to clean the tables.
I started from table twenty to five to ninegeighteen and twelve. I mopped them clean and also recheck the arrangement of the chairs.
When everything was on place, i went back to the kitchen . Sophy was there putting her bag down on the chair.
“hi Riley, good morning ”
“good morning “I nodded on response.
“Are you done with the cleaning? ” I asked sophy.
She shook her head “Nop, not yet. I’ve just arrived. Are you done already? ” she asked me.
“Just finished. ” I show her the mop on my hand.
“Ohh you already finished? I will go then, we’ll talk after I finished that part ” she said taking mop on hand
“Sure ”
After that she went out of the kitchen. Now I was alone here.
I put the mopping towel away and sat on a chair there.
We are a lot of workers here, but I talk to others other than Jenny and Sophy. Sister Skyler was one of them but she isn’t here anymore. She must be planning for her marriage now.
A lot of co-workers were coming and going out of the kitchen. Our kitchen has a lot of workes inside the kitchen and it is so so big. It has many parts. The back side is for preparing for the foods like cutting green vegetables, cutting meat, chopping veggies, tomatoes and all the first step things for cooking foods. The second one is to take the order and make them. There are the main chefs of this kitchen. Here cooking the prepared items or process of preparing them as the order is done. But the third part who is right in front of the second layer of kitchen takes orders from us and order the chefs on the second layer. They are responsible for checking if the order is placed as it is said or not.
I’m at the right side of them. It is a long room along with lots of chairs. It is specifically made for us. It is separated by a glass wall from the kitchen but the good thing is we can see the kitchen part while they can’t see this area. This both don’t have a door but a big door frame like gateway to cane inside it.
I was bored without a single person to talk to. So I took out my phone. Much to my surprise there were so much unread messages from Jason.
“Let’s meet up ”
“Take a leave today”
“Hey are you there? ”
“Are we meeting today? ”
“OK I’ll come over there ”
“Leyson ”
“I’m coming ”
There were many messeges like this.. He was asking me to meet up and when I will be free. But at last he said he’ll came here.
He really was that impatient Jason that I used to know.
“Don’t come here Jason. I’ll be busy attending customers. I can’t give you more time. ” I replied him. Then I put the phone on the bag.
“Ding dong” as soon as I put my phone on the bag, it make a noise. I took it out and checked it.
“I’m already on my way Leyson. ” off course it was from Jason. He was not listening to me. He was on the way here. I was excited to see him but still I didn’t want to forgive him this easily.
“I won’t meet you Jason. I haven’t forgiven you yet. ” I wrote him the message and sent it to him.
It was soon delivered. It was not that I don’t wanted to see him but I really was upset with his behavior and didn’t want to forgive him this easily.
He see the message soon after its delivery. I was eagerly waiting for his answer.
One minutes passed.
Two minutes passed.
Three minutes passed.
I was looking at the phone screen waiting for his reply but he didn’t write back.
Maybe he got hurt… Maybe I have gone out of the line this time.
Should I say sorry or what ? But I want him to know that I’m angry with him.
I took a long and deep breath. Then I typed ” You have to work hard to get my and Cami’s forgiveness. ” I wrote and send it to him.
He instantly looked my message as soon as it is delivered.
Then at the top of the screen at a side of his name with green dot there was typing written on it. He was writing message for me.
Not long after his message popped up in my screen. I tapped his name and there his message was.
“Even if you don’t talk to me, I’ll be happy seeing you. ” there was a smiley emoji at the last part.
I have told him many times in the past not to me talk like this. It felt so akward and weird. I told him to take me only as his best friend but maybe he also can’t control his feelings.
I was never able to see him more then a friend . He is my secret holder, he knows me very well. He knows my weakness and strength too. But that’s it, I never develop a feeling for him. He is like a brother to me, I know it is safe with him, I know i love him but just not the way he do.
I feel bad that I’m hurting him, I felt bad that he is in love with me… A girl who don’t even feel anything for him. I want him to be happy , I want him to be loved. He deserves to be loved as the way he loves. Many things came on my head. And my head was totally messed up.
“Where is Cami? I looked for her in second and first floor but she is nowhere ” Sophy said as she entered the kitchen.
I put my mobile phone down and lift my head to look at her. She had a confused look on her face.
“What? Sorry, I didn’t listen? ” I asked her again.
“Where is Cami? ” she asked.
“She is sick ” I replied.
“What? What happened to her? ” she got a bit of exited at my words.
” Don’t worry, it’s just a little fever ” I said. She took a deep breath.
“Thank goodness, I was so worried ” she said putting her right hand on her hand.
“Did she saw a doctor? She must be alone right now that you are here. Why don’t you take a leave to take care of her? ” she suggested
“I tried to take a leave in the morning. I called our manager, he said she can take rest but it will be hard for others to handle two people’s absence. I mean he didn’t approved my leave. ” I told her summary of everything happened.
” He is right too. It’s damn busy on this resturant. It’s such a five star restaurant that we can’t even be late for a while in services, or they will start saying this and that. I hate this part of my job. ” she said pouting.
” let’s go back to work, I think people has started coming now ” I said.
“Yeah , let’s talk about it on the lunch ” she patted my shoulder . And i nodded at her.
I then put the mobile on the bag and went outside to attend the customers at the table.
There really were few people at my tables. I quickly went to attend them with glasses of water. This was a high end restaurant, and i bet our service is one of the best service at A city.
“Hello sir, Welcome to Star resturant ” I said to the person in front of me. I served them water. “Here is your menu, please give me your order ” I pushed the menu in front of them.
He looked at me. To my much surprise, he was Liam. And what shocked me was that he was here alone and at this table where I had my duty on. Because he usually sticks to his boss and he should be using his private room even if he is having lunch here, I thought inside my head.
“Hello Riley ” he smiled at me for the first time.
“Hello sir. ” I bowed a little to him .
“How are you doing? ” he asked me.
I was a little shocked that he was here. Now I feel like sun has risen from the west sure, he was talking to me about my well-being and that too smiling.
“I’m good sir.” I answered him uncomfortablely. I felt a little bit odd because he never took the initiative to even respond to my bows back then. He always have a stern look on his face.
He looked at my confused face and smiled.
“Please bring me these two items” he said showing some dishes from the menu.
I noted his order.
“Anything else sir? ” I asked him .
“No, this is it” he said smiling at me.
“Please wait for a while sir, I’ll get your order as soon as it is ready. ” I bowed to him.
Then I went towards the kitchen, all the way I was thinking what on earth had happened that cold attitude of that person is vanished and he was talking to me with a smile?
