Damien
After checking on the new fellows that Clara brought with her, I head back to the living room to look for my girl. I am sure she is done eating so she must be somewhere around the house.
I crash into Victoria who seems to be a panicking mess. I ask her to calm down and talk to me but the words seem to be stuck in her throat.
“Tell me. What is the matter?” I ask her.
“Clara,” she responds.
“What about Clara?” I inquire.
“Fabian,” is all she says. Just the mention of his name and every cell of my body becomes alert.
“What has he done? What..” my questioning is cut short when I hear someone yelling outside.
“Don’t! Don’t even think about defending him! Who the hell does he think he is keeping my daughter like he as every right to do whatever he wants!”
That sounds like Fabian. I know that voice very well. Who is he shouting at? Clara? Oh my god! Clara!
I dash past Victoria to the door. I find Clara standing timidly infront of her father. How long has he been yelling at her? How did he even get here? Who told her that Clara is here?
Fabian’s eyes land on me and I can literally see the fire in his eyes. I knew this moment would come when I would have to face Fabian. but this happened way too soon. I want to treat him with respect since he is lucky enough to be Clara’s father but I won’t be able to control myself if he keeps yelling at her like that.
“There he is,” Fabian says while a disgusted frown on his face. Everyone’s eyes land on me, including Clara’s. She looks so scared. Is this how she always is infront of her father or is it just today?
“You! How dare you take my daughter and keep her in here like she is yours to keep?” Fabian asks me.
“I am not keeping her here. She is here on her own will and I am not keeping her hostage,” I respond.
“Shut up! I have hard enough of you Damien. You caused me enough trouble in the past. Everything has been going so well and I was living a peaceful life with my family until you decided to penetrate into my life like a pesky pest. What do you want from me now? What do you want with my daughter?” he says, his eyes as dark as obsidian.
“I don’t want anything from you, Fabian. You have already taken enough from me and I am not going to let you take Clara away from me,” I tell him in a firm determined voice. He sniggers and then narrows his eyes. I can sense his fury from where I am standing behind Clara. I notice his fists clenching tighter.
“Don’t even mention her name! You can only have her in your dreams. I am no such fool to let you have my daughter. You don’t deserve her and I care about her wellbeing that much to stop her from being with a worthless man like you!” Fabian says and curses.
“Father, no. Please don’t talk to Damien like that,” Clara pleads while joining her hands together as if praying.
“What? How dare you try to lecture me on what to say and what not to? You are probably naive about situation, Clara. You have no idea what he is capable of. You don’t know him. He is way worse than you can imagine. He is a demon in disguise,” he says.
“I know enough about him and he is neither of those things that you have said. He is a good man, father,” Clara says in my defense me Not! I can’t just let Fabian treat her like that even though he is her father. I stand in front of Clara like a shield from his harshness.
“This is between me and you, Fabian. Please don’t include Clara and divert your rudeness to her,” I tell him and his nose flares in fury.
“So you know that now after dragging my daughter into this. You have the nerve to even think about having my daughter after all that happened. Clara even got kidnapped because of you,” he says and my mouth goes agape.
Fabian knows what happened. How come? Did Lazarus really tell him about it? Was he that serious about involving him?
“Why was she kidnapped? As a bait to catch you. Your enemies are already targeting my daughter. You are already putting her in danger. You should know that you are a danger to her, to me to my family and to my entire pack. Just stay away from us and everything around and connected to us,” he says.
“That is impossible. I can’t stay away from Clara,” I tell him and he lands a sharp blow on my jaw, making me stagger out of balance.
“Father, no!” Clara cries out and holds my shoulders so that I don’t fall. Whoa! That really caught me off guard.
“I am giving you the last warning Damien! Don’t ever come near Clara or anyone else in my family or my pack. What if she got killed or hurt in anyway, I would have ruined you and your entire dear family. I have done it before and I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again,” he says.
“Father stop! I am fine okay. Just take me. Let’s go back home. Please don’t hurt him or his family. They haven’t done anything wrong,” Clara pleads, tears welling up in her eyes.
“Why are you defending him? Do you love him? What has he done to you? You barely even know him,” he inquires from her.
“Yes, I love him. He is my mate, father. I can’t leave him. You can’t separate us,” she responds in a firm and confident voice, shocking her father to an extent of his eyes nearly popping out of their sockets.
“What did you just say? Your mate?” he inquires with disbelief unfiltered in his voice.
“Yes, dad. He is my mate. He is the man who the moon goddess made for me. I am not going to let you treat him like this,” she tells him.
“So this is the mate you were telling me about. Was he really too busy to attend the ceremony that I invited him to or was he just here hiding in the shadows? Were you afraid to face me?” he asks, his eyes glued to mine. If looks were daggers, I would have lost my eyes already judging by the way Fabian’s eyes are boring through right now.
“He knew that you were going to react like this when he showed up so he didn’t want Jason’s party to get ruined,” Clara replies him.
“You also know that you ruin things wherever you go. You just met my daughter and you have already ruined our relationship. You have ruined everything we had and I am sure you have fed her with all the lies you could come up with so has to make me look evil in her eyes. That’s why she seems stick to you,” Fabian says.
“He didn’t do anything to me. We are meant to be together. I don’t care what happened between the two of you years ago, even before I was born. Maybe it is time for you to forget the past and move on because I don’t to be a victim of your enmity,” Clara says.
“Forget about the past? You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. I can never forgive Damien for what happened and the two of you will be able to be together over my dead body,” Fabian says and then looks at me again.
“You are not worthy of Clara and there is no way you are her mate. Do you even know what it means to be someone’s mate? This must be a complete mistake. Damien cannot be your mate!”
“He is, dad. Just accept the fact that fate has brought us together and there is nothing you can do about it,” she says.
“Reject him then! Tell him that you don’t want him at all and Reject him. I am sure the moon goddess is willing to give you a second chance. You will get a better mate who is more worthy than this heartless Vampire,” he tells her.
“I can’t Reject Damien because I love him. You can’t reject someone you love,” she tells.
“Then I don’t care about your silly love. You are coming with me back home and if you really care about this Vampire and his family, you will just do what I tell you,” Fabian says and then grabs Clara’s arm. She struggles to free herself from his hold but he is obviously way stronger than her.
“Let go of me. Ahh! You are hurting me,” Clara cries as Fabian drags her away from me.
“Just let her go! You are hurting her!” I shout at Fabian while trying to free Clara from his strong hold.
“If you are wise enough and have any sense left in you, you should just stay away from Clara and never interfere in my family issues. Don’t ever come near her and don’t even dream of having her when I am still alive. Even when I did, I am going to make sure my family and pack don’t let you rest!” he yells at me.
“Let’s go away from here!” he orders his army and they begin to go away into the woods. Clara doesn’t stop crying and struggling.
“Damien! No! I want to be with Damien!” she keeps crying but they all give her a deaf ear.
I remain where I am standing as I watch them take Clara away. I feel so helpless and useless right now, not being able to get Clara and save her from her ruthless father. He is her father and he has every right to take her away.
I am not her husband, even though marked her as mine, it doesn’t matter to Fabian. All that matters to him is that he hates me and he will never let me have Clara. He even told her to reject me. At that moment, I felt my dead heart shutter into a million pieces.
Luther approaches me and pays my back to comfort me. I don’t even know when he got her. I now realize that everyone is out here. I think they saw and heard everything.
I had just got Clara back and now she has been taken away from me. This time, I have no way of getting her back because I don’t have the right to claim her from her father. All this has happened do fast. Fabian has taken Clara away from me!
