Chapter 40 Clara is missing

Book:Fated for the Vampire Published:2024-5-1

Damien
I don’t know whether Clara escaped Lazarus’s clutches or they did something to her. Lazarus just won’t go straight to the point. If he hadn’t kept Clara hostage, I would already blown his teeth out of his mouth.
“Are you playing tricks on us, Lazarus? Why can’t you bring the girl? We brought what you asked for. Why can’t you fulfill the part of your deal?” Raul inquires.
“This is not over yet. You can’t expect to get the girl just because you have brought these turned humans with you. How do I know that this is going to end here? That you aren’t going to come after me when you get what you want?” he asks.
This is it! I have had enough.
In a split second, I pounce onto him, landing a jaw-cracking blow on his face. He flies backwards, hitting his back on the wall behind him with a yelp. Damn! I should have done that in the very beginning. I follow him there strangling his neck. I hit his head back onto the, hoping to crack his skull.
“Where is she!” I yell at him, feeling the adrenaline rush through my body like a drug. I want to beat him up until his whole body is too mushed up even for his Vampire ability to recover.
“Damien, stop! Beating him up won’t solve anything,” I hear Victoria telling me from behind.
Shit! It is getting too late. I don’t know how Clara is or even where she is. Chances are very slim that she might be in this place.
“We couldn’t find the girl,” two men come down from the stairs saying. Lazarus’s eyes widen and then land on me. The woman shoots a glare at the men and they both purse they lips apologetically.
Fuck!
Where did she go? Did she escape from them? I don’t know whether to feel relieved that she is out of there clutches or to worry that she could get herself into danger while out there.
“So she really isn’t here and you have no idea where she is. Did she escape from you? How careless are you?” I ask Lazarus who shakes out of my hold.
He straightens up his clothes and stands upright.
“She might have escaped from where I had put her but there is no way she will manage to get out of this house or the entire place. She is still under my possession,” he says.
“It won’t take us long to find her. My disciples are everywhere around the place. There is no way she is going to make it out of here alive,” he says with a smirk.
“If I were you, I would just let her go, Lazarus. We have brought what you asked for so just let her be. I will find her myself if you don’t have the ability to find her,” I tell him. I turn on my hill and nod to the others to head out and look for her.
“Not so fast, Damien. You aren’t going anywhere. This is not over yet,” Lazarus says and the door we came through closes in a split second. Are you kidding me right now?
This house is undoubtedly really old. Same applies to the door that he has closed to keep us in. Katherine walks boldly to the door and raises her fists. Just one punch and the door goes flying out of its frame, landing outside and crashing into pieces.
Lazarus must have forgotten that Katherine has
Potence – Supernatural strength and his door wasn’t as strong as he thought.
We dash through the door, leaving Lazarus standing transfixed where he is. Justin and the three others come with us. We surround the whole house and look for Clara. When I reach behind the house, I begin to trace Clara’s scent. I get closer until I find another door crashed on the ground. Did she break that?
There are other scents around the place. Maybe Lazarus’s disciples followed her. What if they get her and cause any harm to her. I don’t know what I would do to them if they dare land a finger on her. I have already gone through a lot of shit since yesterday and I am not going to let them have Clara again. I hope she is okay. I don’t mind if she runs back to her father’s home as long as she is okay there. That’s all that matters right now.
I go around to meet the others and tell them that, Clara went through the back way. I find them surrounded by Lazarus’s disciples.
Fuck! Where did all of these come from. I can tell that most of them are not bloodline Vampires. They are mainly turned humans but they look stronger than the newly turned.
Lazarus walks towards me and an evil smirk spreads across his lips.
“What did you think? I would let you go just like that? You have a price to pay Damien. Everytime I meet you, I loath you more and more. The girl might have left but that won’t stop me from having my revenge on you,” he tells me.
“What do you want? To fight me?” I ask him.
“No, to kill you,” he replies. ” If I kill you, then there will be a lot of rewards for me. No one will come between me and my plans, you will have died and that will be good enough,” he says.
“I knew you were not going to give up with a fight but I expected you to act as civilized as you claimed you are,” I tell him.
“Don’t talk nonsense right now Damien. You have brought this to yourself and your family. If you weren’t so stubborn and selfish, your family wouldn’t have suffered what is going to happen to them now,” he says.
“What are you going to do to them? Use those weak newly turned to fight bloodline Vampires? Are you that desperate?” I ask him.
“We have no grudge against your forced disciples. What is the use of having disciples who follow you against their own will? Are you that selfish?” I inquires from him. Lazarus, being as notorious as he is, he is never affected by words.
“Forget about the chitchat. Today is going to be the last time you will be opening that mouth of yours,” he says.
“You sound so confident for sure but one thing you should know is that I am not even a tiny bit of afraid of you Lazarus. I always win Lazarus and you very well know that. You don’t stand a chance against me. I am way stronger than you and my father was too. Just forget about ever getting what you always fantasize about because you are not worthy of being the leader of the Ventrue clan,” I tell him.
I know that I have tackled the ugly side of him. Actually, I have just added salt in the wound. His jaw clenches and he balls his fists. Maybe I was wrong about that part of him not being affected by words.
“I am going to shut that damn mouth forever. Let’s see how you will be boasting about your strength when you meet your father in hell!” he roars and then pounces onto me. I am steady when he reaches me. I grab him on landing and throw him away. He lands on the crashed door that I highly suspect was broken by Clara when she was escaping.
He gets up almost immediately and walks to me. I never prepared myself to fight when I came here but I know Lazarus would never give up without a fight. His disciples attack the others but they just end up flying about with damaged limbs. Aww! But we shouldn’t kill them. They are just under Lazarus’s influence.
“Stop it!” a strong voice halts all the chaos.
“I order you to stop all of this!” Mithras’ voice sounds again. Mithras!
We all turn at once and find a whole army of… the council? They managed to get them here. Orpheus, Athan, Darren stand beside Celeste, Mithras, Cassius and Amber? I thought I left Amber home. There are many vampires behind them. thought I left Amber home.
“Lazarus, you have been cornered. Just surrender now,” Celeste says.
Mithras first shoots me an angry glare before looking at the new force. He wasn’t expecting this, was he? He thought I was dumb enough to follow his conditions and not inform the council.
“Get them!” Celeste orders. In a blink of an eye, all of Lazarus disciples are tied up and held captive. Those are some super fast Vampires, I see.
Lazarus looks around him and realizes that he is really cornered. Where he is still assessing the situation, I throw him off his feet and he lands on the ground. I hold him from their and Katherine holds him tighter so that he has no way of moving an inch from the ground.
“There are some newly turned inside that house. You need to go get them,” I say. Mithras and Cassius go with the others into the house to look for them.
“Clara is missing. I need to go look for her,” I say as they tie Lazarus up.
“Clara is fine. You don’t have to worry about her. She’s safe,” Orpheus tells me.
“She is?” I ask. How does he know?
“She is at home. Amber came and informed us before we departed from the headquarters,” he replies.
“Home? When? How did she get there?” I inquire.
“She escaped from here. That’s all you need to know now. Just calm down,” he tells me.
Hearing that Clara is safe and she managed to reach home makes me feel at ease. I don’t know how she managed to but all that matters right now is that she is safe.
“I am going home right now,” I tell Orpheus.
“Okay, but we are going with you,” he replies.
“I don’t care as long as get home as soon as possible. The council will be able to handle the rest of the situation here,” I say and he nods. He goes to quickly inform the others. . All I want right now is to go home and hold her into a very tight embrace, and never let go.
