Clara
We head down the hill without looking back. By the time they find out that I am not in the room they left me in, I will be a good distance from here. Unless they have a spare key to the door.
We go through the woods and when we are a long way from the hill, we reduce on our speed and start to find a way through. This place must be a long way from the town. It is only surrounded by woods. If these woods are connected to my Pack’s territory, then I will be able to find my way home.
I don’t want to go home yet. I want to go to Damien’s. From my Pack’s territory, I will be able to find my way to Damien’s house. Maybe there woods are connected to the woods around Damien’s territory. I really hope so.
If it is like that then I will be able to find Damien fast and stop him from going to that beast. I was desperately praying that he comes to rescue me when I was locked up in that monster house but now I am only praying that he doesn’t go. I wish he doesn’t even know about my kidnap and that I am missing.
We are now in the middle of the woods. We can’t see anything but trees. The woods aren’t that dark though. The moon is shinning brightly tonight.
“Where do we go now?” Emma asks.
I remember one important lesson during pack training when I had just found my wolf. The only way to find your way back to the pack is looking at the direction of the moon. The moon changes position each season of the year.
Which month is this? Because of all the heaviness of the thoughts in my head, it is so hard hard to even figure out which month we are in.
Yes, I remember now.
I look in the corresponding direction of the moon and determine where my Pack’s territory is. Now I just have to follow the direction of the moon. I am so grateful to Miss Carina for persuading me to join the pack warrior training back then.
I lead the way and Emma and Justin follow after me. My wolf starts to dig into her mind, following her instincts as we run through the woods.
When I detect the boundaries of my Pack’s territory, I rejoice internally for being able to do this. I think all those long hours of training have paid off.
We ran across the boundaries without going far into the territory. If I go home now, I won’t be able to warn Damien. Home will have to wait. I don’t want anyone to get on my way now.
From here, I can tell the direction to Damien’s house. We continue running through the woods. I can remember clearly when Damien took me to his house from these woods. When we reach the stream, the memories come flooding unfiltered back to my head.
I wonder if he came to check on me tonight. I don’t even know what time it is. I last checked the time before Damien left my room. It might be tomorrow, I mean it is past midnight. The sky getting lighter. I think the morning is approaching.
When I spot Damien’s house at a distance, I break into a run and dash to the door. Justin and Emma come panting behind me. It must have been a really long and tiresome run for them.
How do I know on the door? Crap! I am in my wolf form. What if I scare them? They hate wolves. Maybe they won’t be able to recognize me. I should transform back so that I can knock.
Justin just rings the door bell as if having noticed my situation. I note that Emma still has my clothes in her hands. I thought she would have lost them during all that running around the woods. I would have been able to borrow some from Damien’s closet.
Amber is the one who opens the door. Her eyes go wide when she sees my wolf and the the two behind me. Why is she who had to open the door? I think I am just used to Victoria opening the door for me with a beautiful smile on her face.
This is the exact opposite of the usual. Since that time when I found her trying to make out with my man, I haven’t felt secure around her. I don’t hate her, I just don’t have a good feeling about her.
A man who’s face I know ofcourse but I don’t know the name yet cones to the door. Maybe the others are out to feed, I tell myself. Maybe I should first transform.
“Clara is that you?” he inquires.
“Yes,” Justin replies. “She is just transformed into a wolf.”
“I see,” he says.
“If you are here, then…,” his eyes grow incredibly wide and he covers his mouth in shock. What? What? Then what? I scream inside my head.
“Damien. We need to inform them. How did you get here?” he asks while pacing about in front of us. What is happening? What about Damien? Shit! I should have transformed before. I feel so
“We escaped,” Emma replies.
“Who are you?” he asks, referring to Emma and Justin.
“We are in newly turned Vampires. Clara helped us escape from where we had been locked up,” Justin replies.
“Oh, my god! So this is true? Lazarus has been turning the humans and keeping them!” Amber exclaims.
I need to know what happened to Damien. Jeez… I am going to transform right now right here and I don’t care if I am seen naked.
That would be absurd. I walk away and stand behind a bush tree beside the patio. I transform into my human self and close my eyes. I pass my hand and Emma places my clothes there. I put them on quickly. Under normal circumstances, this would have been super awkward buy I don’t have the time to judge the situation.
I get away from the tree and walk back to Amber and the guy who’s name I don’t know. The questions have been boiling in my head and I haven’t been able to ask them in my wolf form.
“Where is Damien?” is the first thing I ask.
“He went to rescue you from Lazarus,” Amber replies.
“What? When? Why? I am not there,” is all that I can bring myself to say due to the overwhelming information.
“He doesn’t know that. It hasn’t been long since he left, but I think that he is already there,” the guy replies.
I feel the emptiness inside me on hearing that Damien has gone to get me.
“But it is a trap. They just want him to go there and get me on their own terms. They are up to no good. He is danger. I have to go back and save him,” I say.
“No, Clara. You can’t just go back after going through all the trouble of getting here. At least Damien will be at peace knowing that you are safe. You can’t put your life in danger again,” he says.
No. I can’t just stay there while Damien is out there in that hell because of me.
“Don’t worry. He is with Luther, Raul, Victoria and Katherine. He will be fine as long as they are with him. They will be able to protect each other. Just calm down,” he says while holding my shoulders. I look him in the eyes and he gives me a small smile.
“Come inside,” he says. I first look back at Emma and Justin and then nod. We all enter the house and the warmth welcomes me.
The house feels so empty without Damien and the the others. I miss Victoria and Katherine’s liveliness and lovely attitude. Amber is keeping her distance from me. I don’t blame her if she hates me. I know I ruined her fantasy if having Damien all to herself.
If he doesn’t survive whatever Lazarus’s plans are, none of us will be able to have him anyway. I don’t know what I would do with my life if I lose Damien. He is the main subject of my life right now. He is the only reason why I wake up with a smile on on my face hoping to see him before the day ends. He has become my reason to live.
“Where are the others? I mean the house is really quiet at this hour of the night,” I inquire.
“Orpheus has gone with Athan and Darren to inform the Council about the situation. Damien took Justin and the other three newly turned humans to Lazarus because he asked for them so inorder to let you go,” he replies.
Oh, god! The situation is this worse! So Damien took his new family members away so as to get me?
“You can’t expect me to just stay here resting while Damien is there having the worst time of his life for my sake,” I say while pacing about in the house.
“We have to do something. We have to inform him that I am not there,” I say.
“We don’t know where Lazarus is but we know where the headquarters of the council are. Amber, you can get there quicker. Tell Orpheus and the others that Clara managed to escape and she is here. Tell them that they only go with the aim of capturing Lazarus and getting all the victims that he has kept hostage,” he tells Amber. Amber nods.
Well, since I am out of the situation, I guess she wouldn’t mind helping. I know she cares a lot about Damien and has as much as I do and wouldn’t want him to get into any kind of danger.
“Okay,” she responds.
“Please be careful,” I tell her and she nods.
She then dashes to the door. Whoa! It is as if she is teleporting! How fast is she?
When she gets through the door, my fingers remain crossed. This is going to be the longest and worst time of waiting of my entire life. Hell! I wish all this was just a nightmare and I am going to wake up in Damien’s arms, buried in his embrace.
