Chapter 696: Heading to Lonely Goose Mountain

Book:The All-powerful Son-In-Law Published:2024-6-3

Though reason advised Rodney to be cautious, his proud emotions wouldn’t allow him to swallow the bitter pill: “This matter absolutely can’t be settled like this!”
“Master White, it’s too late to deal with that man now; he’s already entered the boarding gate,” Carter grumbled, pointing in the direction where Leo had disappeared.
Rodney turned to look and indeed couldn’t see Leo anymore.
“Rodney, sir, revenge is a dish best served cold. Let’s temporarily let him go. Once we figure out his background, we can deal with him later,” Mr. Robins spoke in a deep voice.
With things at this point, Rodney could only temporarily suppress his anger. He squinted his eyes and said, “If that bastard has no background, I’ll make him understand the consequences of acting arrogant in front of me!”
“Carter, check the seat; see if that kid used glue or something,” Rodney instructed Carter.
Carter walked to the seat where Leo had let Rodney sit, carefully inspected it, even ran his hand over it, but found no glue or any adhesive.
“Master White, no glue, and nothing sticky,” Carter reported.
Rodney, with a puzzled expression, approached to inspect. Indeed, there was nothing on the seat, just a smooth plastic surface.
“Mr. Robins, do you know the reason?” Rodney inquired.
Mr. Robins shook his head, “I also can’t figure it out.”
“Humph, no matter what tricks that man played, I’ll make him regret it!” Rodney gritted his teeth and said hatefully.
The stud earring youth raised his hand, checked the time, and said, “Master White, time is running out; let’s board.”
“Board my foot! First, find a place for me to change my pants!” Rodney glared at the stud earring youth.
Since Leo and Madame Godwin didn’t book their tickets together, they didn’t sit in adjacent seats after boarding.
Leo found his seat, next to an old man wearing traditional Chinese clothing and glasses, giving off a scholarly vibe.
Sitting next to Madame Godwin was an older woman.
Coincidentally, this older woman and the old man next to Leo happened to be a couple. Due to their children booking their tickets at different times, they didn’t end up sitting together.
Upon learning that Leo and Madame Godwin knew each other, the older woman voluntarily exchanged seats with Leo. In the end, Leo and Madame Godwin sat next to each other.
“Madame Godwin, do you think this is the fate?” Leo joked.
Madame Godwin rolled her eyes and replied, “Being seated next to a beautiful lady isn’t fate; it’s your good luck!”
Three minutes before the cabin door closed, Rodney’s group finally appeared on the plane.
In the aisle, when Rodney saw Leo, he gave him a cold glare.
Although accustomed to being arrogant, Rodney knew that the plane wasn’t the best place to pick trouble. He had to endure for now and go to his seat.
Leo naturally saw Rodney but chose to selectively ignore him.
Having dealt with too many second-generation rich, Leo couldn’t be bothered.
On the plane, there was a beautiful policewoman to chat with, making time pass quickly.
Three hours later, the plane landed at Beijing North International Airport.
After walking out of the exit hall, Madame Godwin took out her phone and turned it on.
Right on time, her mother called: “Dear, have you arrived?”
“Mom, I’ve arrived,” Madame Godwin replied briefly.
“Dear, Mom has something important to tell you. Do you still remember your Grandpa Tony? His beloved grandson has returned from studying abroad, coinciding with your grandfather’s big birthday celebration. You two can take this opportunity to meet,” Madame Godwin’s mother sounded hopeful.
“Mom, why are you bringing this up again? You know my job is special, and besides, I’m not interested in dating right now.”
“What does dating have to do with your job? You’re not getting any younger; it’s time to consider settling down. That boy really likes you a lot. Last time, you beat him up; shouldn’t you apologize when you meet him?”
“Mom, I’ve told you, I have no feelings for him!”
“Feelings can be cultivated slowly. He not only looks handsome but is also a top-tier student from a prestigious foreign university. How is he not a match for you, you stubborn girl?”
Trying to reason with her mother left the usually assertive Madame Godwin feeling powerless. Seeing Leo’s strange smile, she could only make a few perfunctory remarks before ending the call.
“What are you laughing at?” Madame Godwin frowned.
“Before, you told me you came to to celebrate your grandfather’s birthday. Turns out it’s for a blind date,” Leo teased.
Madame Godwin rolled her eyes, “Blind date my foot. This lady is naturally beautiful; people lining up to pursue me can go around the Earth. Why would I need a blind date? Where are you going now?”
“Sorry, can’t tell you right now,” Leo shook his head.
The Lynd family was a potential threat; since a feud had been ignited, Leo chose to strike first for the safety of those around him.
Madame Godwin, aware of Leo’s capabilities, guessed, “You’re definitely here to cause trouble, right?”
“Not to cause trouble, but to resolve it. To ensure I can sleep peacefully in the future,” Leo corrected.
Madame Godwin, knowing more about Beijing North than Leo, kindly advised, “Leo, this city is the capital, a treasure trove. I won’t dissuade you, just a reminder: be cautious in whatever you do.”
Leo smiled and replied, “Thanks for the warning, Officer Beautiful. I’ll be fine.”
“In that case, I won’t bother you. After you handle your matters, give me a call. I’ll take you around, treat you to some good food.”
“Deal.”
Leo watched as Madame Godwin boarded the airport shuttle, then hailed a taxi for himself.
As Leo got into the taxi, Rodney, Carter, and others walked out from the exit.
A luxury Mercedes immediately pulled over by Rodney’s side, and the door opened automatically.
Once inside, Rodney instructed, “Follow the taxi in front.”
“Yes, sir,” the driver replied respectfully.
Enduring it until now, Rodney decided to endure a bit longer. He wanted the driver to tail Leo, curious about Leo’s background before deciding how to deal with him.
In the taxi, the driver asked, “Buddy, where to?”
“Lonely Goose Mountain,” Leo mentioned a location.
“Lonely Goose Mountain? Are you going there for tourism? It’s not a place you can enter casually. I heard some distinguished big families live in that area,” the taxi driver remarked.
“You don’t need to worry; just take me there.”
Lonely Goose Mountain was on the outskirts of Beijing North. After an hour’s drive, the taxi finally approached lush green mountains, with luxurious mansions sitting several kilometers apart.
