Chapter 26 Getting Loose

Book:Fated for the Vampire Published:2024-5-1

Damien
Tonight we are taking Logan out of the house for a feeding session. He will get weaker if he spends a lot of time without feeding. I also need to feed. So it will be better out there than being in here wishing Clara was still here with me.
The streets are as lively as always. All nocturnal creatures are now awake. There is a good number of Vampires and werewolves in this part of the country. I think we are way more than the humans.
Logan walks beside me. Orpheus, Luther and Victoria came along. Raul, Amber and Katherine went to a bar. The others decided to remain at home since Vampires can go days without feeding.
When we spot an easy victim for him, Orpheus helps us corner him.
“Okay. When you bite him, in your mind, you have to count up to five seconds. Don’t go past that or else you will end up killing him. Understood?” I tell him and he nods. We stand aside and watch him as he devours his first victim.
We wait for exactly five seconds and he pulls out his fangs. Wow, he is going to be a fast learner.
“I like this boy,” Luther whispers to me.
“Yeah, he is quite a fast learner,” Victoria says.
After roaming around the streets, we have all feed. I think I will be able to last for some good days before feeding the next time.
Not wanting to go back home and think about being with Clara, I chose to go to the club where Raul, Katherine and Amber went. I am not a fun of alcohol, but I think I should get loose tonight. I am sure Clara is having a good time at the party. I should also try to have a nice time.
Luther decides to go back home with the boy. He is not that big a fun of clubbing either. Victoria and Orpheus decide to come along.
“Be careful, baby,” I hear Luther whispering to Victoria and then kissing her on the lips. Victoria wraps her hands around his neck and their supposed to be a peck ends up being a long loud kiss. Thanks to our Vampire senses, there is no secrecy despite the darkness.
“Guys, get a room,” Orpheus complains and I can’t help but laugh. I notice a smile on Logan’s face. Luther and Victoria stand apart, each one of them grinning at each other like teenagers. Yeah, that is the power of the bond you share with your partner. I wonder how mine is doing.
“When Luther and Logan leave, we head to the bar. There is some quite loud music playing in the systems. One would think the roof is going to blow off.
I don’t like very loud places because my Auspex abilities seem multiply the loudness of the sound. When we spot Raul, we walk over to him.
“Guys, you came!” Raul shouts when he sees us.
“Ofcourse we had no better things to do right now,” Victoria says and rolls her eyes.
“Where is Luther?” Raul asks us.
“He went back home with Logan,”I reply.
“Who’s Logan?” Amber asks.
“The new boy,” Victoria replies.
“Oh, I hadn’t known his name yet,” Amber says.
“I know, me too,” Katherine says.
“He is a very quiet boy. I hope he gets jolly with time,” Victoria says.
“That will be great for him if he gets close to the family. He will adapt quickly,” Orpheus says.
We all sit down together on the same table. We order for our drinks which they bring in large quantities.
“That’s why I love this place,” Raul says, referring to the quantity of the drinks served.
“The music is so loud,” I complain, feeling really uncomfortable.
“I can go tell the guy on the systems. He is a good friend of mine,” Raul offers.
“You should do that before my ears start bleeding,” I respond.
“I will be right back,” Raul says and gets up from his chair. After some time, the volume of the music reduces. I give out a deep sigh of relief.
I am still on my first glass of my drink. I miss Clara so much, I don’t even feel so good. I shouldn’t have taken in that shit of alcohol into my body, especially after feeding. I am not used to this shit! I could tolerate a glass of wine but not pure alcohol.
I just sit there watching the human girls shake their bodies vigorously on the dance floor. There are also some old women and a good number of old men.
“I am going down there to the dance floor and give some of those guys some company,” Orpheus says while getting up from his chair.
“Are you serious?” Victoria asks him with a raised eyebrow.
“Yes, why not? I am a single guy,” Orpheus replies with a shrug of his shoulders.
“Let him be,” Raul says as he walks back to the table. Victoria just shrugs and sips on her drink.
“Let him enjoy his single life while it lasts,” Katherine says with a smirk and then creeps her hand on the table, ending up threading her fingers through his.
“Amber, you are single too. Why don’t you go out on the dance floor and enjoy the night?” Raul tells Amber who frowns her face in annoyance.
“I don’t want to,” she says.
“Come on. Get loose. You shouldn’t just sit there and let the night go to waste,” Raul tries to convince her but she still waves her off.
“Okay, it’s your choice. How about we go and have fun?” he says while looking at Katherine with adoring eyes.
“That would be great,” Katherine responds m The two finish their drinks and then head to the dance floor.
“Those guys are so unbelievable!” Victoria says when they disappear into the dancing crowd.
“They are just trying to have fun. I don’t find any problem in that,” I say while spinning my glass lazily on the table. I couldn’t even get halfway through my drink.
“I wish Luther didn’t have to go back home. I miss him already,” Victoria says while leaning back against her chair. She huffs and closes her eyes.
“I am thinking about having children,” Victoria says out of the blue. The bored look on my face immediately disappears and I stare wide eyed at her. Amber also looks really surprised.
“Are you serious?” Amber asks her, the shock clear in her voice.
“Yes, why not? I mean we have never had children in that mansion. I think kids will bring some joy and liveliness in the house. Besides, I will not get bored anymore when I have a baby to consume my time,” she replies.
“You are right. You guys have been together for some good time. I think it would be better if you start planning for the future of your relationship,” I tell her.
“Have you already talked to Luther about it?” Amber inquires from her.
“He was the first one to bring up the topic of having children but we never went ahead to discuss it further. I am going to talk him into it,” she replies.
“You should,” I tell her.
In my head, I begin wondering if Clara and I would ever have children of our own. I have never thought of having kids before until now. I wonder what our children would look like. I am sure Clara would be a great mother.
After some time, I can’t stand being in the bar anymore. Raul, Orpheus and Katherine haven’t come back yet.
“Is there someone else wants to go home?” I inquire from Victoria and Amber.
“Yes, I am getting so bored here,” Victoria replies.
“Orpheus and the others don’t seem to be ready to go home yet,” Amber says.
“Let me go tell them that we are leaving and ask them if they want to come along,” Victoria says while getting up from her chair.
I am left alone on the table with Amber. We haven’t had any personal conversation since that night she came into my room and left when she was mad at me. I look at her and find her eyes fixed on me. The silence between us feels really awkward despite the music still playing in the background. I know I should begin a conversation, but why do I feel really weird.
I have lived with Amber for a really long time. She has always made advances to me in the past and I always let her down and we always moved on. Why do I feel like she is now avoiding me? Is it because of Clara?
I am saved from starting up a conversation by Victoria’s return.
“They want to stay much longer. I think we should go on our own,” she says. Amber and I get up from our seats and we head out of the bar.
When I reach home, I start wondering if the engagement party is already over. I hope Clara had a great time. Did Fabian bother her about me not showing up?
I really miss her. It is taking every ounce of me not to sneak into Fabian’s house and look for her. If the party is already over, she must be in her room now. I could wait for her there until she comes in.
I was with her with her this morning but I don’t think I will be able to last the entire night without seeing her. I really miss her a lot.
