This way, not only could Jessica make Gordon proud, but she would also, invisibly, become a central figure in the Gunter family, bringing a strong sense of vanity and pleasure.
Jessica had once naively thought that after the fourth son Alex’s family visited the Cloud Dream Mountain villa, they would enthusiastically spread the news of Jessica moving into the top-tier wealthy district.
But reality told Jessica that these relatives of the Gunter family seemed to be completely unaware that they had moved into the Cloud Dream Mountain villa.
Here she was again, trailing behind, hearing praises for Joyce from the relatives.
“I really envy Joyce. She actually found someone like Donald Vogt. Her luck is simply incredible.”
“This isn’t just luck; it’s clearly strength. In my opinion, Joyce and Donald Vogt are a match made in heaven. They’re so loving; they can definitely grow old together.”
“From now on, I have to make my daughter learn from Joyce. Also, we need to use Sophia’s marriage as a negative example to educate her. Never find a man like Leo, a parasite on a woman!”
“Absolutely! Look at Donald Vogt, young, rich, successful. Leo, that kind of person isn’t even fit to carry his shoes. As a man, living as a parasite on a woman, if I were Leo, I would have hanged myself long ago. Living so miserably, it’s utterly meaningless.”
While the Gunter family relatives praised and mocked, Gordon, Joyce, and Donald Vogt had arrived at the entrance of the restaurant.
Just as the three were about to enter, the hostess suddenly reached out to stop them, wearing a professional smile, and said, “I’m sorry, but Lemon Grass restaurant has been completely booked out today and is temporarily closed to the public.”
This sentence felt like a needle stabbing into Joyce. She released Donald Vogt’s hand and, spitting with anger, shouted, “What did you say? Say it again!”
“Miss, Lemon Grass restaurant has been completely booked out and is not open to the public for the time being,” the hostess politely repeated.
Joyce couldn’t help but look at Donald Vogt.
Donald Vogt’s lips twitched a couple of times, and he coldly said, “I am a VIP customer of Lemon Grass, and I made a reservation in advance. Let us in for dining!”
The hostess replied politely, “Sir, I’m not targeting you. What I mean is that today, all VIP customers are not allowed to enter Lemon Grass for dining.”
“This matter was specifically instructed by the owner of our Lemon Grass restaurant. There will be extremely important guests dining at Lemon Grass today.”
Joyce couldn’t accept this. Hands on hips, spitting with anger, she said, “I don’t care about all that. Do you know who we are? Let me tell you, we, the Gunter family, chose your Lemon Grass for a family banquet because we held you in high regard. If you don’t let us in, I will complain to the mayor’s hotline!”
Seeing the two’s arrogant attitude, the hostess also became a little irritated and directly said, “Miss, we have no right to decide on matters instructed by the owner. Even if you call the governor’s hotline, I still can’t let you in.”
Donald Vogt’s mind stirred, and he asked, “As far as I know, the owner of your Lemon Grass is Mr. Lee Hemingway, right?”
“Yes,” the hostess nodded.
“I know Mr. Hemingway, and I will have business dealings with him soon. How about this, you inform your boss, tell him that Donald Vogt from Green Spring Real Estate is here to dine at Lemon Grass.” Although Donald Vogt spoke in a negotiating tone, he assumed a high-and-mighty posture.
He believed that as soon as the hostess heard the words “Green Spring Real Estate,” she would surely take him seriously.
To Donald Vogt’s surprise, the hostess didn’t buy into it at all and directly refused, saying, “Sir, I’m sorry. We are just employees and do not have the right to directly contact the big boss. You don’t need to waste time here.”
Joyce immediately exploded, rolling up her sleeves as if preparing to fight. “Get out of the way, good dog, or I’ll slap you. Believe it or not?”
The hostess, startled by Joyce’s fierce momentum, quickly shouted, “Security!”
Four burly security guards immediately walked out and stood side by side in front of Joyce, like door gods blocking the way.
The appearance of the security guards made Joyce take two steps back. She knew that if she forcefully barged in, the security guards would definitely use force.
Gordon, standing behind Joyce and Donald Vogt, couldn’t stand it anymore. He stepped forward, his face displeased, and asked in a deep voice, “What’s going on? Joyce, didn’t you say there was a reservation? Why aren’t they letting us in?”
Joyce, embarrassed and angry, explained, “Dad, didn’t you see? These gatekeepers said Lemon Grass has been booked out by some big shot and won’t let us in to eat.”
Upon hearing this, the captain of the security guards couldn’t help but coldly say, “Miss, please speak more civilized, or else don’t blame us for being impolite!”
Seeing the other side’s firm attitude and with such a large family waiting to eat, Gordon had to suppress his anger and politely said, “I think there must be a misunderstanding. We, the Gunter family, are holding a family banquet at Lemon Grass today, and it’s not early now. It’s not realistic for so many of us to go elsewhere. Please be accommodating and let us in for dinner.”
“We are not unreasonable people. Like my daughter said, we made a reservation in advance, and now we are being turned away. This kind of thing doesn’t make sense anywhere, right?”
In Gordon’s view, if the hard approach didn’t work, then try the soft one. Many times, being soft was more effective than being tough.
Seeing that Gordon was still reasonable, the hostess’s complexion improved slightly, and she politely refused, “Old sir, I understand your feelings, but today’s matter is an emergency notice from the big boss. If I let you in without authorization, I will be dismissed. I hope you understand.”
Paige, Alex, Ethan, and others couldn’t stand it any longer and walked forward.
“Hey, tell me, who booked out Lemon Grass?” Paige asked with her nose in the air.
The hostess replied, “The boss didn’t specify.”
Ethan couldn’t take it anymore and stepped forward, looking at the hostess. He sneered, “Regardless of who booked Lemon Grass, in front of our Gunter family, it’s nothing. I advise you to let us in for dinner; otherwise, you will bear the consequences!”
A security guard stepped forward two steps, staring fiercely at Ethan, and angrily said, “Kid, do you even know where you are? If you want to act recklessly here, first ask if my fist agrees!”
After the security guard spoke, he raised his huge fist and gestured in front of Ethan. Seeing the security guard’s large fist, Ethan involuntarily shrunk his neck and dared not say another word.
