It wasn’t Leo who rushed forward, but Chasel.
Chasel’s entry tilted the balance, and the thugs, who were once in control, found themselves screaming under Chasel’s control.
In just two or three minutes, over a dozen thugs were either lying on the ground, crying for mercy, or fleeing in fear, casting terrified glances at Chasel.
Onlookers were petrified, and one man, attempting to escape, tripped in a comical fashion due to his hands being bound behind his back.
Madame Godwin joined the fray, unleashing her fury on the man with punches and kicks, leaving him begging for mercy amidst cries.
After the beating, Madame Godwin lifted the man from the ground, exchanged a nod with Leo, and left, intending to deal with him back at the precinct, suspecting he held a hidden case.
Leo couldn’t help but feel sorry for the man; he chose the wrong adversary, daring to provoke Madame Godwin.
The male doctor from the Western clinic cowered by the door, witnessing Madame Godwin taking the man away. He dared not breathe, genuinely afraid she might take him too. Once Madame Godwin disappeared, the doctor sighed in relief, then turned to Leo, eyes filled with malice.
In the clinic, after a few moments of tea, Leo learned about Bonnie’s adoption from Marsh and Marian Reed. They ran a hotel, not overly wealthy but comfortably so. Due to health reasons, the Reeds couldn’t have children and, after various medical attempts, adopted Bonnie, confirmed as an orphan at the time. Chasel expressed gratitude, promising loyalty even in the face of adversity. Marian, looking at Bonnie affectionately, said, “Bonnie, in our hearts, you are our daughter. Although it’s only been three years, we are content.”
Tears welled up in Marian’s eyes. She looked at Bonnie tenderly, saying, “Bonnie, you must visit us often.”
Bonnie, sweet and sensible, held Marian’s hand, replying, “Mom, Dad, don’t be sad. I’ll always be your daughter, and I’ll come back to see you often.”
Leo, moved by the scene, decided to help fulfill the Reeds’ long-cherished wish for another child. “Marsh, Marian, do you still want more children?” Leo inquired.
Marsh quickly replied, “Of course, we do. Even with Bonnie, we’d like another child for her to have a companion, and to liven up our home.”
Leo nodded, “If you want another child, let me take your pulse.”
Marsh sighed, “Dr. Bloomer, it’s futile. We’ve been to Langstel’s major hospitals and clinics. Even with multiple attempts at IVF, perhaps it’s just not in my fate to have children.”
Marian couldn’t help but glare at Marsh, displeased with his pessimism. She extended her right hand and said, “Dr. Bloomer, I don’t believe in this nonsense. Please, take a look for me.”
Leo checked Marian’s pulse and examined her tongue coating. He said, “Marian, every time you and Marsh go for check-ups, do they only focus on the reproductive system?”
“Yes,” Marian nodded.
Marsh didn’t understand why Leo asked such a question. Infertility surely involved checking the reproductive system.
Leo continued, “Marian, your pulse is stringy and thin, your tongue is dark red with petechiae. These symptoms align with Traditional Chinese Medicine’s diagnosis of liver function stagnation. So, I conclude that your infertility is caused by liver issues.”
Leo’s words left Marsh and Marian momentarily stunned; it was the first time they heard that liver problems could lead to infertility.
“Marian, if I’m not mistaken, before your period, you often feel irritable, easily angered, with poor mental state. Additionally, your menstrual cycle is irregular, and sometimes you experience abdominal bloating and pain, correct?”
As Leo continued, Marian’s mouth opened wider. After Leo finished, she quickly nodded, “Dr. Bloomer, you’re amazing. Everything you said is spot on!”
Leo fetched paper and pen, swiftly wrote a prescription, then had Sarah prepare the herbs. He handed the prescription and medicine to Marian, saying, “Marian, take these three traditional herbs according to the instructions on the prescription. Continuous use for a month should resolve your issue.”
Marian rejoiced, eagerly taking the items. Excited, she said, “Dr. Bloomer, if your medicine helps me get pregnant… well, you’ll be our savior!”
Leo chuckled, waving it off, “No need. You’ve adopted Bonnie, sowing seeds of kindness; you deserve to reap the rewards.”
“Help, someone, please!!”
Suddenly, urgent cries for help echoed outside the clinic. Leo and the others hurriedly stood and walked to the clinic’s entrance.
They saw a somewhat balding man, sweating profusely and anxiously calling out. In his arms, he held an unconscious eight or nine-year-old boy.
“Doctor, please come out quickly, save my son!” Despite the urgency, the man seemed indecisive, torn between entering the Chinese medicine clinic or the Western clinic.
At that moment, a woman, an old man, and an old lady arrived, all panting and displaying anxiety. They were likely the boy’s mother, grandfather, and grandmother.
Leo urgently told the man, “Bring the child into the clinic; I’ll treat him!”
Hearing Leo’s words, the bald man was about to rush into the hospital with the child in his arms, but the male doctor of the Western medicine clinic ran over and stopped him: “Are you crazy! ? The child has such a serious problem, how can the traditional Chinese medicine museum cure, go to my clinic!”
The balding man, seeming to trust Western medicine more, gritted his teeth, turned, and rushed towards the Western clinic with his son.
The doctor from the Western clinic learned that the child’s unconsciousness was due to gas poisoning. Following the treatment protocol for gas poisoning, he began treating the boy.
Fortunately, the child’s poisoning wasn’t severe. After receiving intravenous fluids, he should recover consciousness quickly.
