After a hard-fought battle, they had managed to defeat the fearsome Komodo Giant Lizards guarding the Luminescent Blood Fruits. However, the three Luminescent Blood Fruits had been snatched by the girl in purple attire.
The imposing aura from the elder flared, and he threatened, “Young lady, hand over the Luminescent Blood Fruits, or else, we’ll take your life!”
The girl in purple attire, with her enchanting eyes, batted her eyelashes and said, “You people are so petty. I just plucked three Luminescent Blood Fruits. Is it necessary to chase me relentlessly?” She reached into her pocket and took out three infant-sized, blood-red fruits.
Upon seeing the fruits in her hand, the young man’s eyes widened, fixating on them.
The girl in purple attire looked at Leo and smiled, saying, “Hey, Bro, thanks for treating me to rabbit meat. I’ll give you one Luminescent Blood Fruit.” With that, she tossed a Luminescent Blood Fruit to Leo.
She turned to Master Jennifer and continued, “Miss, you’re quite beautiful. I’ll give you one too.” She threw another Luminescent Blood Fruit to Master Jennifer.
The girl’s behavior left both the young man and the elder utterly dumbfounded. What’s more, after distributing the Luminescent Blood Fruits, she munched on the remaining one like it was just another piece of fruit. She alternated bites between rabbit meat and the fruit, savoring each mouthful.
Leo, following her lead, ate a piece of rabbit meat and then a bite of Luminescent Blood Fruit. The taste was indeed exceptional.
After a brief shock, the young man clenched his fists and yelled in frustration, “You… stop!”
The girl in purple attire and Leo continued to enjoy their meal without interruption. Soon, both Luminescent Blood Fruits had disappeared into their stomachs.
The young man, driven to the brink by the sight of two Luminescent Blood Fruits being consumed right before his eyes, was on the verge of losing his temper. To obtain these three Luminescent Blood Fruits, he had lost two of his companions, and he had also been struck by the giant lizard’s tail. Now, his chest ached slightly.
“Black Elder, apprehend them!” he shouted furiously.
“Yes, Young Master!” The elderly man nodded slightly and made his black robe sway. With a step of his toe, he transformed into a shadowy figure and extended his bony, withered fingers to grab the girl in purple attire.
With a change in her expression, the girl in purple attire retreated rapidly after her toe touched the ground.
As the elder was about to seize the girl, a flash of cold light streaked through the night. A short sword thrust toward the palm of the elder’s outstretched hand.
The elder’s expression changed, and he quickly stopped in his tracks, gathering his inner energy in his palm, attempting to block the sword.
However, the attack of the short sword was exceedingly fierce, breaking through the inner energy defense of the elder and slicing through his thumb and index finger.
Looking at the elder’s right hand, the area around his palm had been cut, and crimson blood dripped down his wrist.
The elder hurriedly used his inner energy to stop the bleeding. Meanwhile, he gazed at Master Jennifer with a shocked and angry expression. “Seven Stars Sword Technique… You’re from Seven Stars Sword Sect, aren’t you?”
“Seven Stars Sword Sect?” The young man’s eyebrows furrowed as he inspected Master Jennifer and his eyes gleamed with a hint of a different light. He said in a deep voice, “You must be the newly appointed Sect Master of Seven Stars Sword Sect, Master Jennifer, right?”
Fiery Blaze Sect had recently learned about the situation with Seven Stars Sword Sect. The former Sect Master, Jeff, had been killed, and Master Jennifer, who had been held captive by Jeff and Janet for four years, had taken over.
The woman before them, in terms of appearance, age, and martial prowess, closely matched the information they had received.
Master Jennifer nodded and replied, “Yes, it’s me.”
With this confirmation, the young man’s expression shifted, and he gave a specific martial artist’s respectful salute. He said, “I’m Brian Bush, son of the Sect Leader of Fiery Blaze Sect.”
Upon hearing Brian introduce himself, Master Jennifer remained her usual cool self, coldly observing him without saying a word.
Brian didn’t want to provoke a conflict with Master Jennifer. He continued, “Master Jennifer, today’s matter has nothing to do with you two. We just want to apprehend this girl.”
Although Fiery Blaze Sect was more powerful than Seven Stars Sword Sect, the black-robed elder accompanying Brian was only an intermediate-grade Grand Martial Master. Even with Brian’s own abilities, it was uncertain if they could challenge Master Jennifer.
Furthermore, Master Jennifer had an unidentified man by her side, and Brian had to proceed with caution.
Leo, having shaken the core of the Luminescent Blood Fruit in his hand, spoke with a smile, “How can you say it has nothing to do with us? Are you blind? Didn’t you see me eating this fruit?”
Fiery Blaze Sect and Seven Stars Sword Sect were both third-rate martial sects, and Leo knew that they had a history of conflict. Consequently, he had no fondness for this Brian. He wasn’t about to offer him a warm response.
In response to Leo’s sarcasm, Brian’s face darkened.
However, Brian considered Leo his peer in age and believed he was just an ordinary disciple of Seven Stars Sword Sect. Engaging in verbal conflict with an ordinary sect member would be beneath his dignity.
Brian merely shot Leo a glare and then turned his gaze back to Master Jennifer. He asked, “Master Jennifer, your silence… does it mean you intend to meddle in this matter?”
The three Luminescent Blood Fruits were extremely precious spiritual herbs, and they originally belonged to him. Now, two of them had been consumed right before his eyes, and Brian couldn’t swallow his anger.
With a cold gaze, Master Jennifer nodded, saying, “That’s right.”
Upon hearing that Leo and Master Jennifer were willing to help her, the girl in purple giggled. “Thanks, little brother and little sister.”
Afterward, she leisurely sat down by the campfire, savoring the Luminescent Blood Fruit and nibbling on rabbit meat. Her enjoyment was evident.
Brian clenched his fists slowly. However, he wasn’t prepared to challenge Master Jennifer without absolute certainty. He spoke with a threatening tone, “Master Jennifer, since you’ve made your choice, be prepared to pay the price. When you reach East Town, Fiery Blaze Sect will surely demand an account for those three Luminescent Blood Fruits.”
Brian said this because his father, Darcy Bush, the current sect master of Fiery Blaze Sect, had already arrived in East Town. Darcy Bush had reached the pinnacle of intermediate-grade Grand Martial Master, only a step away from entering the realm of Martial General. Their purpose in coming to East Town was to exchange or purchase elixirs and medicinal herbs in the martial market, to assist Darcy Bush in breaking through to the realm of Martial General.
Once they achieved this breakthrough, Fiery Blaze Sect would have the strength to eliminate Seven Stars Sword Sect.
“We’ll meet again,” Brian added a parting cliché and turned away.
Seeing them about to leave after making their threats, Leo suddenly spoke up, “You’re not going anywhere!”
Brian’s body stiffened, and he slowly turned back, fixing a cold, piercing gaze on Leo. “What did you say?”
