Leo extended his right hand once again, massaging Chasel’s back for a moment before carefully removing the silver needles that were inserted into his spine.
“Mr. Gold, try moving your body now,” Leo said with a smile once all the needles were removed.
Chasel straightened his back and realized the pain was gone. An excited expression crossed his usually composed face. “Dr. Bloomer, is my hunchback problem really fixed?”
Leo nodded. “It’s mostly resolved, but you’ll need a month of herbal medicine for further recovery. Also, try to avoid strenuous activities for a week.”
“Thank you, Dr. Bloomer!” Chasel stood up from the chair and offered a sincere bow. Chasel, a man of few words, believed that this was the best way to express his gratitude.
“Leo, your medical skills are truly outstanding. You’ve practically saved my old friend’s life,” Bevis chimed in, genuinely delighted. But then he remembered something. “By the way, my old platoon leader doesn’t want to work in the boxing world anymore. Can you help him find a job? He came to Langstel alone mainly to search for his daughter. A job with modest pay and accommodation would be ideal.”
After some consideration, Leo offered, “If Mr. Gold doesn’t mind, he can work here at my clinic. We need an assistant, and room and board will be provided. We can discuss the terms of employment.”
This was a great opportunity, and Chasel didn’t hesitate to accept. He promptly nodded and said, “Dr. Bloomer, thank you for offering me a job. And please, don’t call me Mr. Gold anymore. Just call me Chasel.”
However, their conversation was interrupted by an abrupt shout from outside. “Dr. Bloomer, come out with us right now!”
Leo turned to look out the window, spotting three Mercedes-Benz vehicles parked outside. Over a dozen people were emerging from the cars.
The leader of the group was Levi, Baldwin’s personal bodyguard. When he saw Leo, anger flashed in his eyes. He was upset because Leo had injured his subordinates and messed up the task that Baldwin had assigned him.
Leo had a rough idea of why these people were here but nonchalantly responded, “Sorry, I’m occupied. Can’t you see there are patients here?”
Bevis and Chasel exchanged a glance, understanding that these unwelcome guests meant trouble.
Bevis, however, wasn’t worried about Leo. He knew Leo’s combat skills were off the charts, and these people might be martial artists, but they were no match for Leo.
Seeing Leo’s dismissive attitude, Levi coldly warned, “Dr. Bloomer, I suggest you don’t make things difficult for us. It won’t look good for you if you get hurt.”
Levi had already decided that he would take Leo to Baldwin even if he had to restrain him. When Leo hurt his men and left the hotel lobby, he had initiated an investigation into Leo through the Meredith family’s network.
Levi had almost entirely uncovered Leo’s background.
Levi knew that the guy in front of him had an ordinary background, no significant connections, and the only thing that might catch people’s attention was his marriage to the Henley family four years ago, where he got a beautiful wife.
Apart from that, he owned this clinic.
A character like this wasn’t even worth mentioning in front of the Meredith family.
Despite his disdain for Leo, Levi chose to be cautious, considering that this guy had remarkable combat skills, as evidenced by the injuries he inflicted on Levi’s men.
Leo couldn’t be bothered to pay attention to the arrogant Levi. He responded coldly, “I suggest you go back to wherever you came from. Otherwise, I’ll make you walk in standing and leave lying down.”
Levi sneered, “Dr. Bloomer, I know you’re skilled, but I, Levi, am not incapable. I’d like to spar with you.”
After saying this, Levi removed his suit and tossed it to one of his subordinates. He then challenged Leo, raising his voice, “I don’t want to overwhelm you with numbers. If I win, you must come with me. How about it?”
Leo understood that sometimes the only way to deal with these bothersome folks was with his fists. He was about to accept the challenge when Chasel spoke up, his voice deep, “A guy like you who doesn’t know his place doesn’t deserve Dr. Bloomer’s attention. I’ll fight you.”
As Chasel turned towards Levi, his post-combat aura surged out. As he flexed his muscles, the injuries on his upper body became even more menacing. Additionally, the sunlight outside cast a faint golden glow on his tanned skin, making him look almost like a bronze statue, instilling a sense of dread in onlookers.
They understood that every scar on his tanned skin was a testament to his strength, and each scar represented a life. They also knew that this man had not escaped the clutches of death just once or twice.
Levi, with a watchful eye on Chasel, asked with a hint of apprehension, “Did you serve in the military?”
“What do you think?” Chasel responded with icy arrogance.
Leo couldn’t help but remind him, “Chasel, as I mentioned, you shouldn’t engage in strenuous activities right now.”
Chasel, oozing dominance, retorted, “No need for intense exercise to deal with someone who lacks self-awareness. Just a warm-up is all it takes.” Despite leaving the military several years ago, his skills were still intact.
Bevis calmly said, “Leo, don’t worry. My old friend hasn’t had much action in a long time. Let him have a go.”
Bevis was well aware of Chasel’s combat prowess. Chasel had, after all, infiltrated the Wolf Division’s headquarters in Myanmar with a tactical knife and managed to come back alive.
“If you want to fight in Dr. Bloomer’s place, I’ll grant your request,” Levi said with a cold snort. He forcefully thrust his right foot forward and charged directly at Chasel.
Chasel hadn’t fought since he developed the hunchback. Now that it was fixed, and with someone willing to spar, he couldn’t help but show some excitement on his face. Seeing Levi’s attack, he didn’t dodge but blocked Levi’s kicking leg with his raised arm. At the same time, he delivered a right punch to Levi’s chest.
