Chapter 507: No Pain on a Full Stomach

The situation made Baldwin feel an impending sense of unease. He frowned and shared it with the blind Ryan.
Ryan’s face displayed mild surprise, but he quickly regained his composure and said, “It’s possible the effect of the cupping is more long-lasting. Just give it a bit more time.”
Over ten minutes passed, and Marina’s acupoint redness didn’t fade as expected; in fact, it grew darker.
“The color’s getting even redder, Dr. Burns. What’s going on?” Baldwin, becoming anxious, questioned Ryan with a somewhat accusatory tone.
Marina, seeing the alarming red marks on her arms, also started to panic. Although the redness wasn’t painful or itchy, the fact that it wasn’t fading was a potential beauty disaster for any girl.
Moreover, the marks seemed to be spreading.
Ryan found himself in uncharted territory, his forehead glistening with perspiration.
At that moment, he recalled Leo’s earlier mention of a “special constitution.” He muttered to himself, “Could it be that Leo was right? Is Miss Meredith a latent carrier of some unique constitution?”
Seeing Ryan’s anxious expression, Baldwin grew even more impatient. He exclaimed, “What should we do now? You need to figure this out, and fast!”
Baldwin was genuinely regretful now. He wished he had heeded Leo’s advice, but it was too late to change that now. All they could do was hope that the unusual red marks wouldn’t pose a life-threatening danger and that Ryan could come up with a solution.
Ryan had never faced a situation like this before, and he felt his forehead moistening with anxiety. “Mr. Meredith, I… I don’t know how to handle this situation…”
“Dr. Burns, you need to think hard. There has to be a solution,” Thomas urged, wiping his sweating brow.
Ryan was Thomas’s recommendation, and if anything happened to Marina after Ryan’s treatment, it would be hard for him to wash his hands of the matter.
Offending the Meredith family could jeopardize more than just their business partnership; it could lead to bankruptcy and imprisonment.
“Brother, I feel like my body’s getting cold and itchy.” As the red marks continued to spread, Marina became increasingly uncomfortable.
Baldwin was so distressed that he grabbed Ryan’s collar and shouted, “You promised my sister would be okay, so figure it out! If something happens to my sister, I’ll kill you!”
Ryan’s nerves were shattered, and his sunglasses fell to the ground, revealing two large, eerie scars over his eyes.
Harry immediately thought of Leo when he saw the situation and urgently suggested, “Mr. Meredith, I think it’s best if we bring Dr. Bloomer back. He was able to identify Miss Meredith’s special constitution earlier, so he should have a way to treat her.”
Upon hearing this, Baldwin released his grip on Ryan’s collar and quickly instructed, “Yes, Levi, and the Butler, go get Dr. Bloomer back right away!”
Levi nodded and, accompanied by the butler and their subordinates, headed straight to the Leo’s clinic.
While Ryan had treated Marina with cupping earlier, Levi had already learned about Leo’s situation due to the Meredith family’s extensive network and knew that he ran a traditional Chinese medicine clinic. Harry had invited him to treat Marina.
As for Leo, when he entered the clinic’s lobby, he couldn’t help but be surprised. The chilly air extended all the way into the lobby, and there was an elderly man in outdated military attire standing beside him. He appeared to be of similar age to Leo, had a head of silvery hair, and a slight hunch in his posture.
“That’s him,” Bevis pointed at Leo and told the man beside him.
The man gave Leo a surprised look and questioned, “Such a young traditional Chinese medicine practitioner?”
“He’s Leo. Not only is he skilled, but he’s also a remarkable doctor. You can trust him for treatment,” Bevis affirmed confidently.
Ever since Bevis was defeated by Leo and took over Bob’s underground fighting ring, he had learned a few things about Leo. He knew that the man they called the useless son-in-law was far from simple.
“Is there a doctor here? Please help my daughter,” a middle-aged woman hurried in with a young girl.
Leo noticed that the girl was clutching her stomach, her face twisted in pain, and her complexion pallid.
“I’m a doctor,” Leo quickly replied.
“Doctor, please, help my daughter. She suddenly started experiencing severe abdominal pain during class. I took her out of school to have her examined at the hospital, and they said it’s normal period pain. They gave us some medicine, but it didn’t alleviate her pain at all,” the middle-aged woman explained anxiously.
She only had one daughter, and she cherished her like a precious gem. Seeing her in such pain was deeply distressing.
Leo had them sit down and then smiled at the girl. “Little girl, are you hungry?”
This question left everyone in the lobby baffled. The girl was in pain; why was he asking about her appetite?
The girl nodded, even though her stomach hurt. Leo explained, “If you’re hungry, you should eat. Once you’ve had a full meal, your stomach won’t hurt anymore.”
This advice was met with skepticism from the onlookers, and the girl’s mother said, “Doctor, are you joking? What does being hungry have to do with stomach pain?”
The middle-aged woman had harbored doubts when she heard Leo say he was a doctor earlier. She had never seen such a young traditional Chinese medicine practitioner before, and she couldn’t help but find it dubious.
After saying her piece, the woman got up from her seat, pulling her daughter along with her, preparing to leave.
Leo didn’t mind the woman’s reaction. He continued to smile and said earnestly, “Medications all have their side effects. For children, it’s best to avoid them if possible. I’m not joking. If my treatment doesn’t work later, you can have the sign of our clinic smashed.”
Hearing Leo make such a bold promise using the clinic’s reputation as collateral, the woman hesitated and agreed, “Fine, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. What does my daughter need to eat?”
“It’s simple. Just boil two eggs in plain water,” Leo said. He then retrieved two specific medicinal herbs from a cabinet in the pharmacy. “There’s a small restaurant nearby. You can ask them to boil two plain water eggs for you, and while they’re boiling, add these two herbs to the water.”
