Chapter 57 The Big Day

Book:Dancing With Fate Published:2024-5-1

Today is the big day, it is one of those days, one of those moments that you just know is going to change your life forever. Change does not come easy, I have never been known as someone that sits well with change. It is not that I don’t embrace it, it is just one of my least pleasurable experiences.
The entire house is a buzz this morning. My mom is desperately running after an overexcited Ava to calm her down. The boys are all in the kitchen having their coffee, not the least bit fazed by all the commotion in the house. And me, I am trying to be useful somewhere but not succeeding.
Ava ~”Be careful! You are going to break that thing. Don’t carry it like that.”
Mary ~”Ava sweety please come sit down. The guys know what they are doing.”
Ava ~”Oh god mom look how he is carrying that mirror, does it look like he knows what he is doing?”
Mary ~”Sweety there is nothing wrong with the way he is carrying it.”
Ava ~”For his sake I hope he does not break that thing, he will have more than seven years bad luck.”
Trayton ~”Mom is she being bossy again?”
Mary ~”No more like giving herself a heart attack. If it was not for you, she’d be moving all these things herself.”
Trayton ~”I still don’t understand why we could not just buy new things for the new house.”
Ava ~”Because these things have got memories.”
Trayton ~”We can make new memories.”
Ava ~”Why don’t you go make a memory in the kitchen and make me coffee? The truck is leaving in an hour.”
Trayton ~”She is definitely being bossy. Lucky her hands look like balloons so she can’t smack me, well at least not hard anyway.”
Ava ~”Trayton.”
Trayton ~”Yes baby girl?”
Ava ~”You better run because I can still kick your ass.”
Trayton ~”I’d love to see you run your wobbly bum after me.”
Ava ~”Trayton.”
Trayton ~”Yes baby your ass is not wobbly.”
Trayton ~”It is just fat.”
SMACK
Trayton ~”Goddammit I thought your hands were sore.”
Ava ~”So did I, maybe they just wanted to smack your wise trap shut? No please go make me coffee.”
Trayton ~”Do you really think it is wise to have caffeine? You are already so energized as it is.”
Ava ~”Then I will go fetch one of those energy drinks that Damian drinks.”
Trayton ~”Ok, ok, I will go make you coffee then but on one condition.”
Ava ~”And that is?”
Trayton ~”At least sit down while you bossing everyone around.”
I leave mom and Ava in the lounge while they show the movers which of the furniture stays and what goes. I meet up with the guys in the kitchen.
Kenton ~”She is real feisty this morning. If she was not pregnant then I’d say it is all your fault.”
Dominic ~”It is his fault, he made her that way.”
Trayton ~”Last time I checked you needed two people for sex. And anyway she was feisty even before I met her.”
Dominic ~”I can remember the first time we met her at the club, what was it she said?”
Trayton ~”Which one? The one where she asked which one of you and Joseph were going to fuck her friend in the bathroom.”
Dominic ~”No, I still think the best one was where she said you had two chances with her. Slim to fuck all and look where you two are today.”
Trayton ~”Hahaha I forgot about that one. She sure as hell made it hard for me but fuck look where we are. Two beautiful baby bugs on the way in our own new home.”
Kenton ~”Now you must just get her ass married. Have you guys set a date yet?”
Trayton ~”I want to marry before she gives birth but she does not want to look fat in a wedding dress.”
Damian ~”I think a pregnant woman in a wedding dress would look hot.”
Trayton ~”What do you know about pregnant women in wedding dresses?”
Damian ~”My sister got married when she was seven months and I thought she looked hot.”
Dominic ~”Shit man, how can you think your sister looks hot.”
Damian ~”Not like that you fucking idiot.”
Dominic ~”What did I say about calling me an idiot?”
Damian ~”And what did I say about caring a shit?”
Gunner ~”You two going to get into each other’s hair again.”
Damian ~”He has been on me since last night.”
Gunner ~”Because you fucking idiot took his chick into the bathroom.”
Damian ~”It is not my fault she liked me more.”
Dominic ~”Because you took your damn shirt off.”
Damian ~”She asked me to, it’s not my fault I look better with my clothes off.”
Trayton ~”How the fuck do you know what he looks with his clothes off?”
Kenton ~”I don’t think you should ask the question to something I don’t think you want the answer.”
Ava ~”They saw each other in bathing suits. You both are damn stupid.”
Trayton ~”I thought you were busy with the movers?”
Ava ~”And I thought you were busy making coffee. You are five buff grown men talking about a pregnant woman in a wedding dress. Do you have any idea how disturbing that sounds?”
Mary ~”I don’t think it is disturbing, I think you boys have grown up.”
Kenton ~”Talk about grown up, I need to go help Kaylin move her stuff over here.”
Ava ~”And the truck is loaded, we can also get going now.”
Trayton ~”Yes, Jackson will meet us there in an hour.”
Ava ~”I really wish that you did not have to work but I guess when you working for a Mafia Boss then you always have to be available.”
Trayton ~”It won’t be for long, he has to come check up on Gunner and Damian anyway.”
Ava ~”Fine, let’s get going then.”
As I step out the front door, there is a little bit of me that feels like it is dying. This has been my home for six years now, there are so many memories here, so many things that I am leaving behind. This was a place where I laughed and I place where I cried. This is where I fell in love for the first time and almost fell out of love too. This is where I proposed and found out that I was going to become a father.
Here is also were I discovered that friends can be your enemies and that family can be reunited. I lost a lot during my six years here but I also gained a lot too. I might be leaving a home behind but some of the most important people in my life will still be here. My only hope is that they can build this as their home now. My baby and I have a new home to go to where I am sure we are going to make a lot of new memories.
Ava ~”Baby we are here!”
Trayton ~”You ready for this baby girl?”
Ava ~”Yes come, come let’s go. I want to go inside. I want to look what it looks like one more time before they bring the furniture in.”
Trayton ~”My god baby, it is only walls.”
Ava ~”It is our walls. Now come one, let’s go.”
The four of us step out the car in the giant driveway of our new home. Of all the places we thought that this would be the best one. It did take a lot of rock paper scissors and eventually pulling straws but we ended picking this one.
That first grey house we look at, that one, well that one look like my grandma with ten poodles could live there. It was kind of old fashioned and dull. That last one with all those enormous windows, my mom so kindly pointed out that there was way too much glass around with two little babies. Which she was right. So this one it was, the Mexican style one. There is more than enough room for all four of us and for the new editions joining us soon.
Trayton ~”Baby I would carry you over the threshold but you are too heavy.”
Ava ~”It’s fine I wouldn’t trust you to carry me even if I weren’t pregnant.”
Trayton ~”And why is that?”
Ava ~”Because those big hands don’t know how to handle something as delicate as me.”
Trayton ~”Hahaha you delicate?”
Ava ~”Then what am I?”
Trayton ~”A beautiful diamond that is rough around the edges.”
Ava ~”I know of someone that is going to be rough around his…”
Before she can complete her words, my lips are covering hers. They seem even softer since the last time I can remember, they taste like sweet strawberries and the pink lip gloss she likes so much. Her lips brush mine, not innocently, like a tease but hot, fiery, passionate and demanding. My senses have been seduced and I can no longer think straight. She is starting to wake an animal inside that has a hunger for her.
Trayton ~”Baby are you doing it on purpose?”
Ava ~”Maybe.”
Trayton ~”Maybe that’s mean don’t you think? You know we can’t.”
Ava ~”But I can.”
Trayton ~”What do you mean?”
Ava ~”I will show you once they have a bed in that room.”
Trayton ~”Gunner, where the fuck are those movers? Let them get this shit in.”
Gunner ~”Yes boss.”
Trayton ~”And Gunner, don’t point a gun at their head. All you have to do is ask.”
Gunner ~”Yes boss.”
Gunner runs off to get them to start offloading the truck. As he disappears down the driveway, there is a big black SUV coming up the driveway, by the pace it is moving it can only be that idiot Matt that is driving.
Trayton ~”Baby girl Jackson is here, you okay if I head to the back with him for a while. We just going to discuss business.”
Ava ~”Of course baby.”
Trayton ~”Do you want Damian to stay with you?”
Ava ~”Yes please, I don’t want to be alone between so many strange looking faces.”
Jackson ~”I feel hurt, are you calling me a strange looking face?”
Ava ~”Hey Jackson.”
Jackson ~”Hey girl, how is the babies?”
Ava ~”They are taking too long to start moving now.”
Jackson ~”They probably already do but you don’t even notice.”
Ava ~”What do you mean they probably already do?”
Jackson ~”That is where you will have to ask Kayley. I just read it in a book somewhere.”
Trayton ~”I have not read it in any of my books.”
Jackson ~”You are reading the wrong books then.”
Ava ~”I think he just pretends to read them.”
Trayton ~”I am going to remember that the next time you want something from the fridge.”
Ava ~”Talking about fridge, I am hungry. You boys enjoy business talk which I think is just an excuse to sit and drink whiskey.”
We all head through the garden to the back entertainment area. There is a built-in bar by the side of the pool. I grab a bottle from the fridge and serve us each a glass of whiskey. Gunner and Matthew head off to make sure nobody disturbs us while I take seat on the barstool across from Jackson.
Jackson ~”You know why I am here.”
Trayton ~”Yes. Just to make clear that he is not with that girl anymore and that he was never the father?”
Jackson ~”Yes. So when can you do it?”
