Chapter 489: Crashing In

“Mom, you’re right about the logic, but you can’t make a show of being rich when we can’t afford to lend them fifty thousand now, can you?” Sophia had a frustrated expression on her face.
Leo suddenly chimed in, “Sophia, now that your mom has spoken, there’s no going back. We’ll lend fifty thousand to Uncle Alex.”
Sophia was taken aback by Leo’s unexpected support for her mother. Jessica, too, was surprised. She couldn’t help but give Leo a deep look. At this moment, her son-in-law, whom she had always considered worthless, not only didn’t annoy her but even appeared somewhat agreeable.
“Leo, about the money…” Jessica managed to refrain from uttering the word ‘worthless.’
“Leave the money matter to me. I should be able to raise fifty thousand by tomorrow,” Leo confidently stated.
Sophia found herself at a loss for words regarding Leo’s behavior, so she decided not to dwell on the matter and went to the kitchen.
After Sophia left, Jessica couldn’t resist lowering her voice and asking, “Leo, why are you helping me?”
“Quite simple. I Dr. Davy’t want you to worry about this matter and trouble Sophia,” Leo’s voice remained calm and indifferent. After speaking, he walked toward the kitchen to help Nora prepare dinner.
Although Jessica couldn’t help but feel uneasy about Leo’s words, she surprisingly couldn’t muster any anger. The fifty thousand that had been a headache for her had been effortlessly resolved.
“It seems my guess was right. Leo, this cheeky fellow, has been secretly hiding quite a bit of money. I need to find a way to figure out just how much money he has,” Jessica mused. She was now feeling quite relieved and, after seeing off Alex’s family, she planned to investigate Leo’s finances and ensure that he would be more responsible. Even if she couldn’t manage his money herself, having Sophia oversee it would be a good option. In Jessica’s view, a son-in-law having a lot of money was not only troublesome but also dangerous.
In the kitchen, Nora was preparing the final dish.
“Mr. Bloomer, Sophia, the kitchen’s getting smoky. Would you mind waiting outside for a moment? We’ll eat as soon as this dish is ready,” Nora said to Leo and Sophia while cooking.
Sophia replied with a smile, “Nora, no problem. We have some time to spare. We’ll wait for your cooking.”
“Alright, Mr. Bloomer, Sophia, I’m not sure if you’ll like the meal I’ve prepared,” Nora asked.
“It’s delicious,” Sophia playfully smiled. “Just as good as the meals Leo makes.”
“Is that so? Mr. Bloomer, you can cook?” Nora was a bit surprised but quickly realized that Leo, being an in-law, was probably responsible for household chores before she arrived.
“Leo, how about giving Nora a taste of your culinary skills?” Sophia suggested with anticipation. She genuinely missed Leo’s cooking. In her opinion, Leo’s cooking skills rivaled those of chefs in top-notch restaurants. Recently, she hadn’t had the chance to savor his homemade dishes, and she felt a longing for them.
Sophia thought that her heart and stomach had already been captured by Leo.
Leo rolled up his sleeves and said, “Sure, let’s add an extra dish today.”
A smile appeared on Nora’s face. At this moment, she felt the warmth and coziness of family.

After dropping Sophia off at work, Leo headed to the Nameless Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic to see patients.
In a little while, Grace Davy would be able to walk normally, and Dr. Davy would be able to take her out for a trip. During this period, Dr. Davy mostly ran the clinic, and Leo played a role similar to a negligent owner.
Leo had just seen a couple of patients when several business cars suddenly pulled up outside the Nameless Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic.
The car doors opened, and over a dozen robust young men emerged. Led by a narrow-eyed young man, they confidently rushed into the clinic.
Their abrupt entrance startled the patients waiting in the lobby. Leo, hearing the commotion, came out of the consultation room.
Upon seeing the narrow-eyed young man leading the group, Leo was slightly taken aback. This was the guy responsible for the car accident involving Darren Hansom’s daughter. Leo hadn’t expected him to find his way to his clinic.
Sarah, who was assisting in the lobby, understood that trouble was brewing with the arrival of this group. Politely, she said, “I’m sorry, we’ve already assigned all the patient slots for today. Please come early tomorrow if you need to see a doctor.”
“See a doctor?” The narrow-eyed young man sneered and advanced toward Sarah, ignoring the others. “Little girl, do I look like I’m here to see a doctor?”
Sarah involuntarily took a few steps back, asking, “This is a traditional Chinese medicine clinic. Why are you here if not for medical treatment?”
The narrow-eyed young man let out a disdainful laugh and flipped his hair. “The clinic’s owner moved my car and even hit me in an altercation on a road not long ago. I’m here to ask him if he knows the consequences of angering me.”
Sarah was baffled by the young man’s words, failing to understand what he meant.
“Get lost!” the narrow-eyed young man shouted, and without acknowledging the others, he fixed his gaze on Leo and sauntered toward him.
“Kid, recognize who I am? Do you think you can mess with me without consequences?” As the narrow-eyed young man spoke, his companions closed in on Leo.
They looked at Leo with disdain, thinking that they had to deal with a big shot today, but it turned out to be a clinic doctor. In their eyes, any one of them could easily handle Leo.
A sly smile crept onto Leo’s lips. This guy was really asking for trouble, coming all the way to the Nameless Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic.
“This is a workplace. If you have something to discuss, let’s go outside,” Leo said, gesturing for Dr. Davy to take over patient care.
“Discuss outside? Why would I?” The narrow-eyed young man wore a condescending expression, and he kicked over a few chairs, declaring, “I came here today to smash your clinic!”
The companions of the narrow-eyed young man began rolling up their sleeves, ready to act once their leader gave the order.
“Listen up, you punks. Do you know where you are, and do you know who I am?” Scar, who had been working in the backyard, came out carrying an iron shovel, letting his presence and his reputation as a figure in the underworld be felt.
“Heh, I thought we had a real contender here. Turns out it’s the famous Scar,” the narrow-eyed young man sneered, showing no signs of fear on his face.
