“Fabian, it’s been two or three years since we last met. I can’t believe you’re on Winifred’s side; it breaks my heart,” August half-jokingly said.
“August, everyone knows you’re generous. I’m just an audience today, not a participant,” Fabian Alick replied.
Fabian Alick’s presence made Dr. Abraham a bit flustered, but he quickly greeted him with a smile, “Mr. Alick, hello.”
As they exchanged playful banter, Hamilton Robert grew impatient, saying, “Mr. Winifred, you’ve brought so many people from the Medical Association. You’re not here for a casual chat, are you?”
Jack felt annoyed by Hamilton Robert’s words, but out of respect for Hamilton Robert’s position and medical expertise, he held back his temper. After all, in today’s medical competition, Hamilton Robert was the key player.
With a frown, Fabian Alick scolded, “Hamilton, what’s with your tone when speaking to Mr. Winifred?”
Jack laughed openly, saying, “Fabian, it’s alright. Young folks don’t like chit-chat. I completely understand.”
Then, he turned to August and asked, “August, no more small talk. Are you ready?”
August smirked, “How are we going to conduct this medical competition?”
Jack grinned mysteriously, “Very simple, a real-life scenario!”
“Real-life scenario?” August hesitated for a moment. “This is a martial arts center, not a hospital. How do we do a real-life scenario?”
Jack was well-prepared and clapped his hands, signaling the entrance of two people being carried in on stretchers. Each stretcher held a patient.
This scene caught August off guard. Jack was going to great lengths to win; he was using real patients as experimental subjects.
“Winifred, what do you mean by this?” August asked coldly.
Jack, however, nonchalantly replied, “Don’t worry, these two on the stretchers are patients I brought from the hospital. They have rare illnesses. We will conduct our competition on them. Whoever can cure their rare diseases wins.”
August hesitated.
Jack taunted, “What’s the matter, August? Are you feeling a bit afraid?”
“Ridiculous! When have I ever been afraid? Bring it on!”
Jack immediately signaled to Hamilton Robert, saying, “Dr. Robert, please take a look at the patients first and determine their illnesses.”
“Wait!” Mr. Bill, who stood beside August, suddenly called out.
Jack looked puzzled and turned to Mr. Bill.
“Mr. Winifred, these two patients are the ones you brought. If your people treat them first, there might be suspicions of cheating, don’t you think?” Mr. Bill boldly stated.
Jack seemed unfazed by Mr. Bill’s words and turned to Hamilton Robert, saying, “Dr. Robert, they suspect us.”
Hamilton Robert coldly responded, “In that case, let them examine the patients first or let Dr. Abraham and this Dr. Alick take the lead.”
Fabian Alick quickly assured, “August, I can vouch that these two patients were obtained from the hospital, and they don’t know Winifred. Furthermore, these patients have extremely complicated conditions.”
With Fabian Alick’s reassurance, August waved his hand and said, “Mr. Bill, let Dr. Abraham and Dr. Alick have their competition. If they can cure the patients, it’s a commendable deed.”
Mr. Bill stepped aside, and Dr. Abraham stepped forward.
“Dr. Abraham, please proceed,” Hamilton Robert said with great poise.
To be honest, Dr. Abraham was unaware that he was participating in a competition against Fabian Alick’s chief disciple. If he had known, he probably wouldn’t have come. Now, he had to proceed. He nervously walked to the stretchers, crouched down, and began to diagnose the patients.
Seeing Dr. Abraham’s nervousness, Fabian Alick couldn’t help but laugh and said, “Dr. Abraham, just treat it as a regular diagnosis. Don’t be too nervous. Perform normally.”
Since the moment Fabian Alick saw Dr. Abraham, he believed that August had already lost.
Dr. Abraham examined the patients for a while, and his brows furrowed deeply. He couldn’t help but mutter under his breath, “This is so strange. What kind of illness is this?”
Seeing Dr. Abraham’s uncertain expression, Jack knew he couldn’t make a diagnosis. He looked at August and sneered, “August, it seems the doctor you brought, Dr. Abraham, is at a loss. Dr. Robert, it’s your turn.”
Hamiltion Robert had an arrogant look on his face as he approached the patients, observed, and then confidently declared, “The patient is suffering from severe skin disease, which led to shock.”
Fabian Alick nodded with a smile, and Jack triumphantly said, “Haha, August, are you ready to surrender yet?”
“Who’s this useless guy, not very skilled in medicine, causing trouble?” Suddenly, a man’s voice rang out.
Everyone turned in the direction of the voice and saw Leo walking in through the entrance.
“Leo!” Leo’s arrival brought a smirk to August’s lips.
August knew that Leo’s presence would likely turn the unfavorable situation around.
After a brief pause, Hamiltion Robert got up from the ground, took a few glances at Leo, and scoffed, “I wondered who it was. It turns out to be Langstel’s renowned freeloader.”
Fabian Alick couldn’t resist a sarcastic comment, “An expert in free-loading was invited here. What a character you are, August.”
“A freeloader, instead of enjoying an easy life at home, has come here to make a fool of himself. Truly pitiful!” Hamiltion Robert continued to taunt arrogantly.
Leo countered, “Eating a free meal by using one’s skills is much better than certain mediocre doctors who recklessly treat patients.”
This statement nearly pushed Hamiltion Robert over the edge. Being called a mediocre doctor by a freeloader was an immense humiliation for him.
As Hamiltion Robert’s mentor, Fabian Alick also seethed with anger.
To Fabian Alick, being called a mediocre doctor by a freeloader was a direct insult to his reputation in Langstel’s medical community. He had been regarded as an unrivaled authority, and there had never been anyone bold enough to insult him.
“Young man, you’ve slandered me! If you don’t apologize and admit your mistake, I’ll sue you for defamation!” Fabian Alick angrily pointed at Leo.
Leo, looking at Fabian Alick with a disdainful expression, retorted, “You know just a smidgen about medicine, yet you have the audacity to claim you’re a medical giant. With your character, if I were you, I’d find a crooked tree to hang myself.”
Leo’s words left everyone stunned. Actually saying that the Medical Association’s president, Fabian Alick, only knows a bit of medicine, this young man’s mind must be damaged, right?
Fabian Alick was driven to the brink of insanity by Leo’s words, and he yelled hysterically, “Leo Bloomer, you freeloading scum. Do you have any medical knowledge? How dare you slander me like this!”
Ignoring Fabian Alick’s furious outburst, Leo turned his gaze toward Hamiltion Robert and pointed to the patient on the ground, saying, “You just diagnosed this patient with shock due to a skin disease, didn’t you?”
