Chapter 429: Just One Move

Book:The All-powerful Son-In-Law Published:2024-6-3

As Leo approached Evan within a two-meter radius, a massive fist swung down towards Leo. Jack and his entourage stood by, expecting Leo to be sent flying and spewing blood mid-air.
“Ahh!” A horrifying scream suddenly pierced the air. Even the disciples of the Extensive Martial Arts Training Center couldn’t bear to watch, believing this scream had come from Leo.
However, it was only Evan who knew what had truly happened. He had thought his powerful punch would easily obliterate Leo, but Leo had effortlessly lifted his hand, seizing Evan’s fist. Subsequently, a terrifying force emanated from Leo’s hand, and Evan felt his fingers shattering in pain. Unable to suppress his agony, he let out a miserable scream.
*Crack!* Another crisp sound of bones breaking followed. After Leo released his grip, Evan’s right arm hung limply at his side. Besides the excruciating pain, he couldn’t feel anything else.
*Thud!* The drama wasn’t over yet. With a swift kick from Leo, Evan’s body soared like a kite with a broken string, flying a considerable distance before crashing into a few wooden dummies and finally landing on the ground.
Evan, writhing in pain, raised his head to look at Leo with a fearful expression.
*Gush!* A mouthful of blood sprayed from Evan’s mouth.
A master’s move, one strike fatal!
Inside the Extensive Martial Arts Training Center, everyone except August was left in shock. The disciples couldn’t believe that the arrogant and powerful Evan had been defeated by Leo in a single move.
At this point, Evan was nearly as useless as a dead dog. His body spasmed intermittently, and blood occasionally oozed from his mouth.
“What just happened? How did Evan lose? Who is this young man who appeared out of nowhere?”
“It’s unbelievable. Evan, who was so strong, was defeated by a single strike, and he vomited blood!”
“It’s terrifying. Can someone tell me if what I saw was real, or did I experience an illusion?”
The people who had come with Jack couldn’t accept the situation either.
Leo stood proudly in the center, exuding an air of isolation as if he were a transcendent figure, disdainful of the rest of humanity.
Jack subconsciously swallowed and finally managed to speak, “August, I’m sorry, I’ve beaten you again.”
Looking at the expression of Jack’s face, uglier than if he had just eaten feces, August was in a good mood.
Jack, who had weathered many storms, only hesitated for a moment before angrily saying, “August, you are shameless! You’ve actually resorted to hiring outsiders to cheat.”
“Winifred, let’s speak with a clear conscience. Who’s cheating?” August retorted.
“Don’t think I don’t know. Your most powerful disciple at the Extensive Martial Arts Training Center is Theodore, who was just defeated by Evan. This guy, Leo, isn’t even from your Extensive Martial Arts Training Center!” Jack stared at August, his face filled with contempt. “You’ve won through cheating. Do you have no shame?”
“Winifred, don’t speak with a forked tongue,” August’s face displayed some embarrassment, but he remained defiant.
At that moment, Mr. Bill, the butler, exchanged a meaningful look with Theodore and the others and made a gesture. Theodore and the others quickly understood Mr. Bill’s intent, and they approached Leo, with Theodore at the forefront. They saluted Leo and shouted, “Master, it’s our incompetence that has brought shame upon you!”
This left not only Jack but also August dumbfounded.
But August quickly understood what had happened and couldn’t help but appreciate Mr. Bill’s response. Leo also understood Theodore and the others’ intention to recognize him as their master, so he decided to help them to the end of today.
With a stern expression, Leo looked at Theodore and the others and scolded them, “I’ve always reminded you that there are more capable people beyond our center. Now that you’ve taken a beating, I hope you’ll work harder and not be lazy. Get back to training!”
Theodore and the others obediently returned to the training room.
Watching this, Jack was grinding his teeth with hatred. “Winifred, I’ll admit defeat in today’s match, but we still have medical skills, chess, and other contests. Let’s see how those turn out.”
August chuckled, “Winifred, calm down. At your age, you shouldn’t get so worked up. If you have a heart attack or a stroke and leave us, my life will be missing a lot of fun.”
This remark infuriated Jack to the point where his blood boiled. He had no intention of engaging in further arguments with August. He brushed off his sleeve and huffed, “Don’t stand there like fools. Take Evan with us; we’re leaving!”
August intentionally shouted loudly, “Winifred, take it easy, you’re not getting any younger. Don’t let anger ruin your health.”
Evan had been hired by Jack at great expenses. He had hoped that Evan would defeat the martial arts experts of the Extensive Martial Arts Training Center and humiliate August. But he had never expected Leo to appear out of nowhere and defeat Evan with a single move. Jack couldn’t help but be furious.
In recent years, the Winifred Group had been thriving, showing signs of surpassing the Azure Group. Jack had wanted to use this momentum to outshine August in all aspects, but today, at least in terms of martial arts, Jack had not succeeded.
“Leo, I appreciate your help today,” August said with a smile once Jack had left.
Leo simply smiled calmly, “Mr. Browne, you’re welcome. It’s getting late, and since the trouble is resolved, I’ll take my leave.”
August knew that Leo had to pick up his wife from work, so he didn’t insist on keeping him.
Inside the business car, Jack was holding back his frustration. “That old man August, not even admitting to cheating! Afan, investigate this guy named Leo for me. I want to know who he is.”
Afan, the man Jack was speaking to, immediately responded, “Of course, sir.”
Jack then gave further instructions, “Also, immediately contact people in Langstel’s medical and chess circles. We can’t let August off so easily; we need to take the edge off his spirit to soothe my anger.”
Golden Leaf Shopping Plaza, underground parking lot.
After Sophia got into the car, she was excited. “Leo, do you know that Marico Kingsley is going to have a concert in Langstel?”
“You want to go see his concert?” Leo asked with a smile.
“Of course!” Sophia was brimming with enthusiasm. “And in a couple of days, there’s a small-scale Marico Kingsley fan meeting. I’d like you to come with me. Is that okay?”
“Of course, it’s okay,” Leo replied. He was willing to do anything to make Sophia happy.
Two days passed quickly.
After work, Leo drove with Sophia to the “Wind, Flower, Snow, Moon” building, where the Marico Kingsley fan meeting was being held.
