Turned out those capable, responsible men portrayed in movies did exist in real life.
Not far from this alley, there was a yellow Ferrari parked.
Lawrence, sitting in the driver’s seat, was in a good mood. He even hummed an unfamiliar tune.
Leo, you freeloading loser, daring to compete with me for a woman. Today, I’ll show you that losers will always be losers.
Glancing at his wristwatch, Lawrence thought it was about time. He sprayed some cologne on himself and then started the car, heading towards the location Pete had sent him.
Outside the alley, from a distance, he could see Rosemary’s car blocked by two other cars.
Lawrence, with one hand gripping the steering wheel, couldn’t help but smile with satisfaction. Pete had handled things properly, and he felt his investment in Pete was paying off.
Lawrence hit the gas pedal, and the Ferrari roared as he rushed towards the scene, then slammed on the brakes.
Getting out of the car, Lawrence yelled in Rosemary’s direction, “Rosemary, don’t be afraid, I’m here to rescue you!”
Once he reached them and saw the situation, he couldn’t help but be stunned.
How come all of Pete’s men were lying on the ground in agony? Where was Leo?
Rosemary didn’t seem surprised by Lawrence’s arrival. She asked coldly, “What brings you here?”
Lawrence subconsciously swallowed, unsure how to respond. The script had gone completely off track. He had prepared a bunch of lines but found himself unable to use any of them now.
It took him quite some time to come to his senses. Scratching the back of his head, he awkwardly said, “I, um, came here to rescue you…”
A look of contempt and disgust crossed Rosemary’s face. “Is that so? Unfortunately, you’re too late. Leo has already taken care of the bad guys.”
Leo… took care of them?
Suddenly, Lawrence felt like the ground was slipping out from under him. He went black for a moment, almost fainting.
“Oh, Mr. Lytton, you’re here,” Leo said, dragging a battered Pete with him.
Upon seeing Pete, Lawrence felt a thud in his heart. He maintained a forced smile and said, “I happened to pass by and saw that something was wrong. I ran over to help. Little did I know, you’ve already resolved everything, Leo. You’re quite impressive.”
Lawrence’s face appeared natural, but he was gripped by fear inside. He hadn’t expected Leo to be so formidable. The fact that Leo had taken down all the people Pete had brought with such ease was beyond his imagination.
“Mr. Lytton, your timing is perfect. I was just asking this guy who instructed him to do this. He falsely accused you, claiming you gave him money to harm me and then staged a hero-saving-the-damsel performance with you. How do you want to deal with him?” Leo said, tossing Pete in front of Lawrence.
Lawrence’s complexion changed dramatically, and in his panic, he kicked Pete twice and then cursed, “Nonsense! I don’t even know this piece of trash!”
“Mr. Lytton, this guy is a demon, please save me…” Pete, enduring the pain, clung to Lawrence’s leg, pleading incoherently.
Pete had experienced the immense pain Leo had inflicted on him earlier. It had nearly pushed him to the brink of a breakdown. Were it not for that, given his professional demeanor, he wouldn’t have given away Lawrence as quickly.
“You’re spouting nonsense; I don’t know you at all!” Lawrence’s face turned ashen. He used his foot to push Pete away, looking flustered.
“Lawrence, I can’t believe you’re this kind of person!” Rosemary looked at Lawrence with a murderous gaze.
Lawrence’s terrible acting made Rosemary not only disgusted but even more disgusted.
Leo had an almost smiling expression on his face. “Mr. Lytton, since you claim not to know this person, he is falsely accusing you. How about we call the police? When the police arrive, they will surely get to the bottom of this.”
Lawrence’s back was already drenched in cold sweat, and just the mention of calling the police made him shudder. If his old man found out about this, he’d skin him alive.
Lawrence stuttered, “I think there’s no need to involve the police. You and Rosemary are unharmed. Why don’t I take care of this matter?”
Leo reached out and patted Lawrence’s face. “Alright then. I’ll leave these people to Mr. Lytton. I hope you’ll make good choices in the future.”
Afterward, Leo called Rosemary to get into the car.
Initially unwilling, Rosemary only opened the car door after Leo signaled to her.
“Scumbag, don’t ever show your face in front of me again, or I won’t spare you.” Rosemary left Lawrence with a parting shot before shutting the car door and starting the vehicle.
Leo’s departure made Pete feel like he had come back from hell to the living world. He quickly got up from the ground and moved the cars.
As they left the alley, Rosemary said somewhat frustratedly, “Leo, you’re so capable. Why did you let Lawrence go?”
“I’ll certainly give him a memorable lesson, just not right now,” Leo replied calmly.
Rosemary turned to look at him curiously and asked, “Your skills are so impressive, just like in the movies. Where did you learn them?”
“I had a master who was a hermit when I was a child. I studied martial arts with him for over ten years,” Leo casually offered as an excuse. “Regarding the fire incident and what happened today events, please keep them confidential and don’t mention them to anyone.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll keep it a secret,” Rosemary felt secretly delighted. It was like a fan finding out their idol’s hidden secret. She definitely didn’t want to share it with anyone.
“Are you heading home now, or…” Leo began.
“My place is quite far. Don’t trouble yourself to drive me back. I’ll just get a taxi from here,” Leo said.
“Or, maybe I should drive you home,” Rosemary suddenly didn’t want to part ways with Leo so soon.
Leo had already unbuckled his seatbelt. “No need.”
“Alright then.” Rosemary pulled over to the side, feeling an unexpected sense of loss.
Rosemary suddenly found herself ridiculous. She knew Leo was married, and she used to despise men. Yet, now she wanted to spend more time with a married man. Was it just because Leo had saved her? Or had she unconsciously developed a fascination for the hero who rescued her?
After Leo had walked a distance and sent a location to Sophia, letting her know she could come pick him up, he waited for her.

Now, let’s switch to Jessica’s situation.
After shopping with her close girlfriends, Jessica injured her foot on the way back home, which turned her happy mood into a gloomy one. Back at home, she vented her frustration on Nora, scolding and bossing her around.
